Night 2 was more mixed results... @Baron23 i think you are on to something with stretching the coils. I am getting some weird temperature fluctuations. One hit it’s drops 20 degrees and the next it’s 20 degrees over the set point. Then I set it down on the post and it drops again. I almost have to hold it off the post for a bit to normalize. I tried both my auber cool and my NV coil with XLR adapter and had same results.

The WE holds the most promise to be the best NV product for me, but so far feels like the least refined...

Hoping we can engage in some discussion @NewVape710 and help evolve the WE some

If the WE had a built in cap, with say 6 holes, there would be no draw restriction but enough slow down for the air to be superheated and not lose temp as quick due to the ambient air being so insanely free flowing. Almost as if the air has an 'air lock' or bit of double glazing to keep ALL the hot air from escaping either up thru the holes, or by being exchanged too fast due to the extreme free flowing nature. The cap could be permanently attached.

Again, draw restriction, IMHO, would NOT be noticeable but efficiency would go up.

I aint no scientisk, but this seemed to what I found while spending months playing with a 6 hole carbcap on the SH.

I think I might have mentioned this before ;)

I get similar results, but things stabilize after a little while. Judging by the color change in my WE, it looks like the top gets much more heat than the bottom. It takes a little while to get there, but I think once the entire unit reaches temp, the WE is much more predictable in use.

I just came back to make sure I was clear that I genuinely wasnt being snarky towards anyone about the WE thing.

Im just a bit of a broken record at all times. Genuine OCD/autism diagnosis and a bunch of other co morbid conditions that make me a bit difficult to be around :D

EDIT: And I wasnt meaning to aim that at you, @okc0mputer! Today is one of those days where I shouldnt be allowed access to the internet! :)

Hey @emmdeemo can’t speak for anyone else but you didn’t come across as snarky on my side of the screen. You’re always upfront and honest with your opinion and I wouldn’t have it any other way. You’re not mean or nasty, you come across as a genial bloke to me. Hell, you pretty much run the FP welcome wagon.

Being you and using that gargantuan brain has been responsible for a lot of considerable input and insight that you’ve contributed to the betterment of the Flowerpot range over the years. Not my opinion, anyone who’s read the thread knows that this is true. Plus you make me laugh.

EDIT for OT inclusion: FP RULES!!!

Just some pics of the titanium changing color from the past week of usage. The last pic shows the bottom of the head, which is gold and light purple instead of the dark purple and blue top. Pretty cool. Nothing really to clean but the screen lets plant material into the water. The double weave screen would most likely solve that issue but I just don't like the way it hits. One of the best things about the weedeater is the really free airflow, and I don't want to sacrifice that for the sake of cleaner water.

I didn't think you were being snarky at all. I do appreciate your concern for other users though

One hit it’s drops 20 degrees and the next it’s 20 degrees over the set point.

I made some space between my coils wraps, and I still get a temp drop with the first hit on a non preheated bowl. The bowl robs some of the heat, and it overshoots to compensate. This happened on other models too.

I can't say whether loosening the coil helps in terms of performance quite yet, but it feels much more solid in hand.

I agree. For some reason the head just feels better with a tightened coil regardless of performance.

I had meant to post this pic previously. Just an idea for anyone who has one of the newvape flowerpot stand/debowlers.

I don't find the spike particularly useful, so I just placed a cork over it.
It's much better for tapping out a spent bowl now.

What temps are you running for that color? Really nice. Mine is just starting to turn gold but I haven't used it a ton...

Tonight it will get put thru it's paces...

So far I am getting the dark ring on the outside again, like the vrod...:hmm: Not at all what I wanted. Hopefully it's just because I'm at too high of a temp, since heat transfer has improved? I have no idea.

Started at 720 - dropping down by 10f every bowl.

The first few nights of use were at pretty high temps - about 775 (but I was outdoors and compensating for low temp and wind). Once I was back in my normal vape station, I started at 600 and worked up to 650. It won't produce huge clouds at this temp, but you will get 3-4 decent hits. At 675 I can get some real big rips, but I personally can't handle the big clouds and always cough a lot after.

Awesome... I think 685 is where I will settle... got a very even roast finally at this temp.

Spreading the coil seemed to have increased heat transfer by a good bit, then

Are you guys using the glass bowl or Ti? I can’t get any visible vapor on the glass bowl much below 750 or so

I am using the glass bowl NV sells. I haven't had to go above 740 with the weedeater yet.

Have you guys tried auto tuning your PID?

Yes, but not since adding the space.... let me do that now and then update

edit: 685~ still seems right to me.

Ti with the normal screen

I've considered it but everything seems to be working pretty well without it. The NV video on auto tuning really didn't make me feel it was a necessity. Am I wrong?

UPDATE
I went ahead and auto tuned the controller. It speeds up the time to set temp, but doesn't make a difference in use. So basically I still need to wait a little bit before I get max performance. I'm going to get a temp gun to see the difference between the coil temp and the FP exterior.

Mainly the showerhead piece on top of my unit has this awful looking white film on it:(:(:(. Idk what it is or where it came from but 99%ISO does not do anything. Does anyone else have this or have any recommendations on how to get it off?

@thekayo Did you turn your controller up very high? Like 1,000f? Or torch the head or something?

I’ve seen one other person with a similar problem who bought the ShowerHead used I believe, so I don’t think we found out exactly where it came from.

He did manage to get it clean, but I don’t remember what he used on it. You might have to search the thread - maybe try “titanium dioxide” which is what most people thought it was.

It has never been past 777f. Never been torched. However until recently it was turned on for a very long time without turning it off so that may be the case. I was kind of a slave to the thc so it never turned off. But now after my break it is only on a few times a week.

I have found the previous guys solution. His looked alot worse than mine and was on top and he used dish soap and hot water to get it off. I am a little worried about using dish soap though as I do not want any to bind to my Dab surface or something. @NewVape710 @newvape918 do you guys have any recommendations for me? Thanks so much for the help everyone!

EDIT* My high ass forgot that I use dish soap on all my pots and still eat off those so im sure it will not kill me. It seemed to help a bit. But what helped the most was scraping it off with my finger nail lol. I got a decent amount of it off but It would be nice to soak it in something to remove it from the nooks and crannies.

Do you think its something simple, like hard water buildup? Here in AZ the tap water is really hard and would definitely leave residue similar to that. Of course this only applies if the head has ever been exposed to water...

It may be honestly My head has touched Water. I always make sure to Iso it after but its possible. I am from BC though so we have probably the cleanest tap water in the world.

It’s not about how clean the water is, it’s about the mineral content. I don’t know how that is in BC, but here it’s pretty high. That’s one of the reasons if I rinse with water at all I also put it back in iso so I just have to let that evaporate off cleanly rather than letting the water leave minerals behind.

If it was that though, I’d *probably* expect to see water spot shaped deposits where it collected as the water evaporated.
