Mine came today and I believe it is a bad unit. The two halves don't meet properly it's really obvious to the eye.

I did however take the whole thing apart and put it back together with the easy loading tray and it's super super simple.

Seems well-made and durable but there are some finish issues.

The length and looseness of the mouthpiece seems most problematic.

@Haze Vaporizers can you PM me I couldn't figure out how to PM you about process to resolve issue.

I have a great picture of the uneven gap but can't upload it without a URL does anybody know a way to upload pictures here
Try it out..don’t just judge on what you think is a seal issue because of what you read on here..mine looked little uneven when I looked..but it’s not gonna be absolutely perfect..we gotta put into perspective what this unit is..it’s 2 half’s that come apart and one of them rotates as well. Mine works really good. Try it out.

There is a bit of give in the unit. You can squeeze it together tighter than it sits on its own. That doesn’t dictate a bad seal from what I understand

The mouthpiece I would likely keep a spare of. If I am out and about I’d hate to lose it

@Volteric how were your bowls? Can you provide any insight on how the vaping process was for you?

I’m having fantastic success with it. I’m using the lowest setting and getting lovely verdant wafts. As I go, I bump the temp up to complete. It is straightforward. Press button 3 times to turn on, hold button until green, inhale. Let off button. Blow. I thought first it required technique but it’s very point and click.

Lowest setting eh. Now I’m jealous. I want one real bad. I am going to wait till the mass production begins. I vape at 180c-200c. On my Dual V3 I rarely go to setting 3 or 2. I normally only stay around 1. I’m a low vaper. Mind you I get some nice cloud at low settings. Glad to see the square will do the same thing. I didn’t like the look of the Dual V3 when I first saw it. It grew on me. The square, I instantly liked the look of.

Overall I am very pleased with my purchase. Especially for a sub-$200 entry!

Feedback from people who feel their unit has no issues would be appreciated.

Is anyone having this issue?

For all bowls, when the unit is turned and clicks into place the two halfs are not aligned (not the gap). In order for them and the air path to be aligned, I have to then move it into alignment. There is also quite a bit of play that would cause my unit to need to be manually lined up after moderate handling.

I'm curious whether this is an issue with mine or is part of the design.

Hi, first post, first foray into this scene, oldy moldy guy. greets!

So I got my Pro unit (mid-March pre-order) last night and would like to know if anyone else is experiencing some of the same quality issues mine has. Since it's clear this active community can offer really excellent advise, I figured I would try jumping in. fwiw, I am completely rooting for Haze for their transparency and creativity, only wishing for a better production run (and hopefully replacement). I sent a customer service message late last night and am waiting on their instructions.

First, the power button doesn't move at all; completely rigid. In fact, the unit was ON as such when I opened the box, flashing slowly amber. Kind of a showstopper right there. Anyone else get this?

Dings and paint touch-ups are next. I mean it makes the unit look used for some time already. This doesn't look normal.

The oven coating material isn't even. Should that be a concern you think, or is it baked on at a high enough temp that heating won't cause flaking or anything freakish?

The housing cutout for the USB-C port isn't aligned properly. Here I'm only worried about ensuring a solid cable connection, but the connector slightly bumps against the housing.

Obviously I need to return it, but for comparison's sake, does this resonate with what you folks are receiving?

Cheers

Was hoping to lend first impressions w/ my square this weekend, but it arrived d.o.a

Much of what your grievances are = mine, save the amber glow. That's crazy! Haze is in touch and taking steps to correct. Will keep the thread abreast. Jealous of all the lucky users. Empathizing w/ the lemonheads

For those curious after that stream it took 20 minutes of being on the charger for the unit to show it was charging. Then it charged for 35 to 45 minutes before going green.

Don't give up hope if it doesn't immediately charge.

Very kind of you making this video. More videos like yours can help the new and existing owners. Thank you for your time! Hope you enjoy it as we enjoy seeing you vaping

Talk to the Beard
Shared my square with a couple of friends yesterday, both Haze dual owners and one with a FF2 and Ghost, and they thought it was the best portable convection vape they've ever used.

We all noted - and I say this again - convection vapes taste and perform very differently than conduction. For me at least, I don't notice any heat or harshness using a convection vape, so I don't feel the need to "regulate" my intake like I do with conduction vapes. So we all took nice long easy hits all the way to the vibration, no coughing, plenty of clouds (but not giant coughing clouds), and fantastic flavor. We all felt the flavor was as good or better than the Ghost, which we use frequently. We counted out 11 good hits before it got wispy.

We examined the ABV and it looked evenly vaped, nothing black or green, lighter than the Dual (as expected), but darker than the Ghost.

I mentioned that my Square bowl #1 seemed to work better than the other 3 bowls, so my friend with a micro hex set checked all the screws and found one about 1.5 turns loose. Tightened it up and I think it's aligning perfectly now. I'll test that out later.

So then the issue of efficiency came up. I normally fit .1g into a Dual can, and the Ghost is about half that. The Square takes a full .2g, lightly packed, regular grind. So the question was - did we get our .2g's worth in that session? The Ghost only gets maybe 3-4 good hits out of a tiny bowl, and a single Dual can works well for 3 ppl, but we all felt the Square did give more bang than the others. Stronger, cleaner, like convection should be. But those giant bowls...(I know, Haze is working on micro-dosing)

Overall impression was very positive. Everyone liked the look and feel of it. Very solid, very smooth mechanism. Mouthpience seemed too easy to lose and not very tight fitting, but it did work well, never even got warm. Probably too big for your pocket, so we deemed it "transportable". You can pack almost a full gram into it, very self-contained. Very stylish and unique, just like the Dual in that regard.

Working with the Square last couple of days, I've started appreciating how easy it is to load up and use. Will it replace my Dual for daily use? Not sure yet...still testing

@Solomon - thanks for the feedback. All sounds really good.

I would like to say that my experience with the MV-1 is a bit different. First, for me a full crucible is in the .1 g range for sure and I get more good visible draws than you indicate.

Maybe there is a reason in the MV-1s assembly, heat sink, or usage that would explain this and perhaps also explain the light color of your MV-1 AVB.

Sorry, minor hijack, back to the Square :rockon:

@paytonpenn Did you have a completely dead unit from the unboxing or did it have some charge before the initial charge (the 20min jumpstart)? I did all sorts of trouble shooting with the supplied charging block, configuring the USB-c backwards and forwards and the data cable on the computer with no such luck. There's no sign of life from the unit. No lights, no power...completely lifeless. Thought there would be some sort of delay with the charger, so let it sit for 30 min or so. I'll be sending it in with a day's turn around inspection according to Haze.

Edit: just now watching your Youtube livestream Square demo and it's  the Chewy (?) grinder looks like the perfect size for the pods and diggin' your lounge-hop grooves ! I put the unit back on the charger just in case it decides to perform before sending it in. It's difficult watching your highly successful results without being able to hit mine, but i'm Ghosting nevertheless. :peace:

@Haze Vaporizers Would it be possible to post on here a picture of a unit with a bad seal? Some arrows pointing and what not. That would probably help almost every user on here instead of them guessing.
Or even pictures of an OK aligned one as it seems even if it’s is misaligned it can work? Seems odd.

So a total of 1 hour to charge. Is this considered fast?

What kinda time frame does it’s closest rival take to charge normally?

That's exactly what did, didn't give up, and now the charger seems to be working. It really does charge fast.

Hopefully it continues to charge properly, sometimes it flashes red right away, sometimes it takes a little coaxing, but seems to be improving. I admit this doesn't make much sense.

Square is really growing on me, now that I have my grind right and know the temps that work best, it's much easier to get consistent results.

It's also really fun to use. Don't give up on yours people, it's worth it. I am going to need a deep clean sooner than I thought.

Wow...not charging consistently is NOT one of the possible issues I would anticipate. Is Haze saying anything about situations where it wasn't charging but 1/2 later is suddenly starts. I think that's what I have read above, right?

We are getting some of these items back to examine. Most likely it is the charger block but we will make sure.

Everything new...Parts, suppliers, vendors...we just need to ensure that all customers will get the best of what we offer. Working hard at it.

That’s why I think the future upgrade path is the perfect solution. Haze gets to bring in some revenue while get these out there to get more feedback. While acknowledging that things will continue to improve and there is no buyer’s remorse do getting in early. Perfect win/win
