There's something about the limited edition 7-fin tip... Does anyone else end up with lighter ABV than usual, but the load is still thoroughly extracted ? Is it the enhanced convection ?
I think the reason for lighter avb with the new 7 fin tips is because the caps don't fit nearly as tightly as the regular 5 fin tips allowing more air flow which in turn brings temperature down quicker. I have emailed George and team about this because every cap I have falls straight off of the new 7 fin tip when upside down. Its like the new 7 fin tips have a smaller outside diameter - is anybody else having this issue?

Does squeezing the caps off round help (I don’t have an LE, was sent an OG 4th Gen,
boy do I love to bitch ) ?

Well my own question is what caps are you pairing them with?
They don't come as part of vapcap. I find the caps you get from the parts section to be on the looser side. I never mix my parts with the OMNI, because I treat that like a vapcap that was designed to work together.

The 7 fins have less fin area to grip with as well. So I solved my local problem by swapping the M caps with the new. The 7 fin gets the M's cap. The M is more restrictive, so it is a bit of a plus.

However, A bad fitting cap will mess with the heat timing and the clicks. And accidental combustion. Often I've been fooled and on the 3rd heatup, have combustion occur. Almost sense it is about to happen.

+1 on that hypothesis. Warmer vapor for me as well. Lighter ABV might mean less conduction?

Getting a Ti spinning MP and the 7 fin LE is a fun combo. :D

@stark1 - I had to do that to make the cap stay on but that solution only provided another problem. My dd is a Blackwood onmi with the 5 Fin tip and I have the condenser fully extended as I like thick vapor with little added air. After doing the cap pinch to make it fit on the new 7 Fin tip there is way too much air flow even with the carb closed - each toke is like setting the omni to minimum extension. I then run the spent avb from the 7 fin tip through my 5 fin tip and get 2 more heat cycles out of it!
@CuckFumbustion - I own 9 caps and tried them all and none of them stay on the new 7 fin tip when upside down and start sliding off as soon as you tip the vapcap downwards.

Smokey, have you played (experiment) with cutting off air intake from the carb hole entirely
(yes, you did)—the F (un/rustration) of playing with new toys, huh?

Or perhaps a thin inner metal shim..., or a thin circle crimp near the cap top...

It’s all in the “play”

@stark1 - no I haven't because in my view I shouldn't have to. Surely DV should make sure the caps fit the tips and vice versa before they start selling them. Don't misunderstand me, I think George and team do an amazing job but it cannot be too difficult to machine parts that fit properly especially when it is all done 'in-house', they know the measurements and tolerances and imo just need to take a little more time with the R & D on these integral components instead of rushing to complete them just to keep up with demand. I would have happily waited a month or two more for a tip that doesn't have fitment issues.
On the flip side - I also received a gen 4 7 fin tip that is perfect in every way and I think it should be re-introduced if at all possible.

I avoid squeezing the cap as a thing. It doesn't to seem to solve the dimension problem, if the cap is too small along the entire cylinder. Plus the heating problems might persist. but IDK. YMMV. I have bent the fin to help it stay on in some cases. So @stark1, am I to understand you got a 7 fin 4th gen as a substitute? Would you want an LE if they offered again? I am trying generate interest, if it helps get you closer to getting one.

That's my first test as well. I would examine the very edge of the tip as well.
It does lean towards a QC prob, from the sounds of it. Now being an LE, would you want it replaced with a non-LE? Would you wait for them to say generate a few to make good?

Especially on parts that rely on friction to stay in place. I had to sort this out with my cap order and they sent a replacement. Then I hear about the problems with the LE caps, then your 7 fin LE.

It would be nice just to buy some new caps and store them without considering IF they might fit old or new caps. We are special buyers who are buying on the component level, so I test them anyway and give Dynavap feedback ASAP so they can find and fix it early. :peace:

Thank you, Cucky, I yam quite :D with my OG 4th.

Was wondering if on future LE tips it might be an option to buy matching cap/tip combo
as a premium. Seems to be a developing bifurcation.

I have contacted Dynavap about the issue(s) and I am sure they will find a solution. The LE caps I received were ever so slightly loser on my gen 5 tip but not enough to affect performance in any way unlike the new gen 6 7 fin tip.

I've bent my first 2 caps but not the next 2 which I use, and all work fine. I chose a previously unused cap (from a $20 M) to pair with my 7-fin. While quite loose at first, a few careful heatings or sessions seem to provide just enough friction without needing to bend. The cap is a THIN metal; I'm pretty sure high temperatures give it some temporary malleability, though I could be wrong. My application and removal process of caps always involves a slight pinch ("DYNAVAP" is between my thumb and index or middle finger) to keep scraping/scratching to the absolute minimum.

The LE 7-fin does get the cool-downclick remarkably fast; I couldn't say if it's pro or con yet. I don't know if the extraction is nevertheless as thorough as my 5th Gen (further testing required), or if too quick of an airflow doesn't allow for enough cooking... pertinent factors may be the widened airpath, loose cap, or low mass of the tip preventing it from holding as much heat. I do like it a lot but don't yet know if it will replace my 5th Gen as my main device.

I don't mean to sin, but GOD DAMN am I jealous of some of you getting the 4th Gen tips! Not that I'm unhappy to have these newer beauties.

Home from an amazing few days celebrating the birth of my fourth grandchild. My trusty VC's were there for me, but I really got a new appreciation for the Ti Omni XL. So easy to handle, even in a car at night, or walking the dog in town amongst strangers. Just a beast of a solution for vaping in a discreet, effective manner. Worked this AM, now relaxing after 7.....yes 7 hits off of a fully packed bowl with a @Pipes Portside as the heat source. If you're on the fence about investing big in a VC, start here.

And now, I'm going to nail my skull to the couch with a little SV3 session..........

You know what the vapcaps are great for? Topping up between sv3 hits!

So how to air travel with my Vapcap? Its not the cap I fear but the lighter and butane. Maybe I just have to leave my new friend behind. Any tips on travel with torches?

I went heavy and bought a bunch of gear on the 2017 4/20 sale. I am susceptible to PPs like that, lol. It was either that or spend even longer than I did obsessively browsing my purchase options, lol.

Gave one of the Ms away. The other M and my Omni-XL each now live in a Portside. I clean them with fire and both are still on the original screens and O rings.

No travel with torches, even empty. Buy a cheapo at destination and discard. I just travel with a cartridge pen, with a side of e-juice for cover. In my toiletries, never an issue.

If you're really worried then just disassemble it. With the lighters completely empty them and keep them in your carry on.

Totally the same here.

Butane is a no really, just get some at your destination.

Torch/lighters aren't allowed as they're considered a weapon on flights.. But empty ones in the hold will be fine, if it's in your hand luggage you might have it taken.. I've had the anomi flint lighter looked at by security, but it was empty and i said it wasn't a jet lighter...

As for the vapcap, just clean and split it into pieces around your bag/packing...

Are you sure about them being allowed in luggage? I was under the impression that jet torches were completely banned on planes.

Not if they can't be use - like a unfilled lighter. But could differ from line to line.

How about an IH on a plane?
I don't think that's a good idea for carry on or even in checked baggage, it could get your luggage flagged for search. We already have to empty out all electronics from bags when they pass through security. E-smokes aren't even allowed on planes along with some other battery powered electronics. I can only imagine the questions that would arise.

"Whats this thing? Why is it disguised as something else? What does it do?"

Maybe I'm just paranoid about the TSA and their bad reputation, but it's not something I would do.

minimum worst case is they take your expensive induction heater.
