They lowered the price 20 bucks for the holiday with free shipping so 249.00 right now. Got an email exactly at midnight about a site wide sale so I checked. Really thinking of pulling the trigger on this one.

You know, I gotta say the 1st impressions for this vape are really good, & I'd be lying if I said I didn't get that instant VAS rush of adrenaline. But for the life-of-me, I just can't get passed that this tiny portable is, to me, way overpriced for such a simplistic &, dare I say, inexpensive design, regardless of the it's health-conscious components. And when I say this, be aware that I'm one of the ones that spent the $295 on the Ghost MV-1. So I'm 95% sure I'm out, but will find it interesting to follow this thread & hear other purchasers' comments. Now if I win a worthwhile lottery, I'd be in. :D

Want to add that some hours ago, l went to the Arizer website & they made a mistake on their pricing. Did anyone else see it? The ArGo was listed at $329 I believe, on sale for $299. My jaw went
jawsdown.gif
. I see now that they corrected it.

Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates!

I do believe the $299 Canadian price is correct. The winter sale has started and all the vaporizers are on sale.

... I've even put spare parts in my shopping cart. But do I just buy it now? Actually I wanted to wait for a kind of GH 2, but this will take some time. Difficult. I love changeable 18650 batteries. Hm...

Right, quite small. But does it suffer from the same problem as the DaVinci IQ, which gets apparently uncomfortably hot to hold?

This was also an issue with pen-style conduction vapes having a metal body (ex: X-Max V2 etc) Maybe the plastic parts used here are the key?

Although I only used it once so far it did not get close to being too hot to hold. It gets warm but not even close to wear I had to put it down.

The other amazing thing is that the vapor was still pretty cool considering how short the vape path is.

Holy shit dude...Grasshopper 2?! They can barely ship out accessories on time. Even when the GH 2 is announced it'll be years before it actually ships based on their history.

I love my hopper but I wouldn't hold my breath for the GH2.

So which is more powerful, the Solo 2 or this ArGo?

I's say Solo II hands down, I have both. This is to be expected, I think, Solo II is carrying twice the battery power to work with (two of the same 18650s ArGo has only one of).

Right, quite small. But does it suffer from the same problem as the DaVinci IQ, which gets apparently uncomfortably hot to hold?

Not to hot to deal with, like say the OG DiVinci was, IMO. But awkward. Most of the heat comes from the corner lower right (where the oven is) so that side gets hot up to about mid way. If you hold it with that part against your hand it doesn't work well. If you turn it over, so the hot part is under your fingers (which hold onto the top half which is fine you're fine (facing away from you right handed). Or hold it in your left hand instead so the display faces you but again, you can naturally grip it in cool areas.

I think this is, at least in part, from clever choice of case materials. The bottom half (where it seems the heat is generated) is an insulator, 'holding in' the heat and slowing it's transfer away. However, any heat that does manage to get conducted up hits the cooler metal where the heat is rapidly stripped away, spread through the metal part to take full advantage of lots of surface area to dissipate the heat away with no significant temperature rise. First cousin to the way some kitchen pots and pan handles are made. Limit conduction with long and thin paths through low conductivity materials then 'trap' what gets through and whisk it away so the surface there stays cool.

Clever them. Again.

I've just ordered one. I think I first heard about the device the day before yesterday. I don't usually make up my mind that fast. I hope I'm satisfied in the end. But I've been looking for a mobile device for a while now. Again and again the replaceable battery was missing. It was there with the GH, but the GH does not always work, and you have to change the batteries far too often.
You can't be so spontaneous with the Argo because of the preheating phase, but I don't think that should be a problem.

Personally I dont own a ArGo but I own a solo2, and I find I can be pretty darn spontaneous with it imo but I often times tend to lose track of time especially when Im using my solo2, haha. I often times will not even have my stem packed before the device is heated up and I usually vape on the hotter side (392f+) unless Ive only got indica and its before 5-6pm.

I get that the GH heats up alot faster than that, and thats what youre used to just throwing in my .02

Another (IMO fun) idea for your consideration, ease of cleaning the stems?

My 'first stem' was getting pretty fouled, enough so that different strains were now not so different in fact. So I put it 'bowl up' on one of the unused posts in the dishwasher (the ones that normally keep plates separated) and ran the normal dishes.

Works great! Came out squeaky clean with almost no effort on my part. Reclaim is sadly out of the question........

Conduction or Convection, I just prefer not to have my herb sitting in a hot oven in between sessions losing any goodness. If I can pull a capsule or a tube easily to avert any loss of goodness (LoG) without burning the shit out of my hands great!

The ArGo strikes me as a vape where pulling the tube in between sessions might advert any LoG? I am sure many will say I should just finish the load. All I can say is I do not like to waste any material.

Have a shopping cart sitting in another tab with an ArGo in the cart.. VAS support needed! Respect! YaMon

You won't be disappointed.

The battery life so far is unreal, especially in comparison to the GH.

Yes, pulling the working stem out of a hot Solo/Air to stop vapor and 'save the rest' is a common and successful technique. You should plan on a 'dry' hit (you won't get much) after you do, the cold air rapidly cools the load below magic temperature.

The stem end remains hot, you've got plenty of 'handle', but you need a plan on a safe place to put it for a few minutes. It might be OK in some cases to just pull the stem up to clear the seal (maybe 3/4 inch?) and let it rest on the seal in the upright ArGo to cool? Or maybe a glass tube/vial or a piece of Silicone tube you can slip it into?

I often 'come back' to Solo/Air loads, but gave up pulling them as I decided that almost no taste was left and the THC isn't lost just cooling in place. Your call, but yes it's easy to do and lots of folks have tried, many I assume still do?

Merry Christmas to all. Tonight's the night.......

Can anyone tell me how many amps the 18650 batteries should have?

I don't follow the question. The Amp Hour rating is 3.4 (3400 mAh), with 3350 typcial for new ones, 3200 guaranteed. The maximum current rating (not that we use the maximum here) is something like six Amps, 12 Amps in a few second pulse (followed by cooling).

If I guessed wrong about what current you're talking about, please try rephrasing the question? Otherwise, perhaps you can find it on the Maker's data sheet?

Thank you, yes, I wanted to know which batteries are suitable for the performance (max. discharge current).

You're welcome. Your call.

FWIW the only 'battery' (since we're only using one, it's technically a cell) I can recommend is the one the factory uses. Among other issues is fit, the door barely closes on the factory cell, a mm longer and the latch won't hold the door shut I believe.

Regarding that NCR18650B as used in ArGo I ran an interesting (to me at least) test. I ran it down to the bottom (until the ArGo shut down), it took about 2 hours to recharge 1700mAh (I have a rig to measure this over time) when my 'gadget' cut it off at 4.00 Volts, what the display said was 85% charged. Bypassing the Gadget charged to 4.15 Volts where ArGo cut charging declaring 100% in the window. This added another 460mAh.

This means ArGo us 'using' 2160mAh of the '3400' available. This is similar to what Air does, with Air I using about 1200mAh or a bit more of the theoretical 2200 'available'.

Such 'derating' is common. For instance, typically high performance 18650s (very similar to what we're using) are used at about 1/3 'nameplate rating' due to the abuse of heat and heavy loads when used to make battery packs for electric cars.

Anyway, for anyone else interested in the energy usage details, that's as much as I know thus far. It looks a whole lot like an Air with a 'new type' 18650 (the NCR18650B) to me when it comes to using power to make vapor. A solid vape with good ancestors it seems.

Regards to all.

A client of mine just picked up a new Tesla. They are advised to stop charging at 85% and to get the battery on a charge around 15-20% remaining.

You can program the Tesla charger to cut the power at any % of battery - giving the owner a lot of control for the longevity of their cells.

Thought it was cool - and that it mirrors the battery advice in all the Arizer threads.

Very cool, great to have them giving advice to customers to save them money when they could do otherwise?

Just last night, while looking for NCR18650B specs I went to our good friends at Obtronic:
https://www.orbtronic.com/batteries-chargers/panasonic-3400mah-18650-li-ion-battery-cell-ncr18650b

Notice, please, the second "Important" bullet point near the bottom:
"Charge fully to 4.2V before first use."

Another key point in my routine rant about battery management. Seems this advice is 'boiler plate' with Li-ion calls with Obtronic.

As far as who's to blame about all this, I put it on @ataxian (of course). He made a commend 'back when' about battery life that got me to thinking and 'reading up' on things.

Thanks for the additional confirmation. For sure Tesla uses enough 18650s to speak with some authority?

They sure do, and so do all the other electric and hybred cars (and soon trucks) going. It's not only a standardization thing but heat concerns demand the bulk be broken up and air moved through the pack for convection cooling so the pack doesn't melt and burst into flames as you try to outrun the cops.

At one point, years ago, Thermovape was stalled out when Tesla 'bought up' every high performance 18650 available. Orders were cancelled, I had to bring one of the samples I'd been Beta Testing at the time back to them. It was, of course, the best performing of that group and my favorite...... But that was pretty amazing to me, TV spent some time with Panasonic's customer list looking or 'just a few' with no luck. Tesla had 'cleaned out' even the small distributors.

Supply and demand. Which is, I think, why Tesla is investing so much money in their own battery plant. Henry Ford would be proud.

Merry Christmas to all. Not white here, but mighty close this morning.

@OF I knew nothing about batteries until you posted information about them.
I had a NIGHT CAP last night with my OLD SOLO that wont die? (GIZMO)

I would get a ARGO but it's like WILLIE NELSON and his GUITAR TRIGGER! (my SOLO)
I'm bad for a companies bottom line, however I love my SOLO and will change the BATTERY PACK when needed.

If I was just getting into VAPORIZING the ARGO will be in my ROTATION.

I have got so many VAPORIZER'S as it is.

Get a ARGO if it fit's your LIFE!

I should get one just to have it. (love the size)

Do they have gong's for it yet? I might try one if it had this ability, and I am sure many others feel this way too.

There is nothing official, but you could easily fit the ArGo stem into one of @Ratchett 's Delta3DStudios nearly universal water pipe adapters

I would suggest the medium size (small would also work, not sure about large) and just putting it on the draw end of your ArGo stem.

I would order quickly before the rest of the community finds out this is an option.

For reference, here is an Arizer Solo II stem stuffed into the small nearly universal water pipe adapter. I wouldn't suggest using it as such, but it fits.

29bdgux.jpg

I don't own a medium or large. But my Solo stem is fatter than your ArGo so it will, probably, most likely, should, with a little effort, maybe fit.

Naw, sorry, ain't buying it. Your not going to skate out of this that easy.

You might not have known a lot about batteries but you knew enough to ask the right question, the one that got me to thinking/investigating what was up. I don't even recall what you said. Maybe something innocent like 'what do we do when the battery fails?'? Got me to thinking why do some battery packs in laptops, cell phones and so on fail faster than others. Curiosity took over from there.

Without your input it would not be. It's your fault.
