What's the point of the XL series? Just longer stem for cooler vapor?
Vapor quality is very hard to differentiate from one Vapcap to another IMO. All the models are great vaporizers and offer a smooth cool vapor.

The XLS models are 17mm longer than the regular length Vapcaps. They use an XL condenser which will accommodate any 62mm stem, straight or VonG and a 17mm mp. The overall length of an XLS model is 109mm compared to the regular length Vapcapd at 92mm long.

That 17mm difference between the regular length and the XLS length may seem insignificant. But if you have large male hands, if you prefer a King Sized cigarette to a regular, if you are not nimble fingered, if you plan to share with people who have large hands, then an XLS model is for you.

An XLS will fit your hand better and you may find that it is easier to twirl while heating. If you plan to share your Vapcap in a session, the longer XLS may be easier to pass to another and avoid burnt fingers grabbing the hot tip.

From what I've gathered before, none of the consumer-grade butane is really that pure (pretty much all of them have impurities, no matter what they claim), so I think any can should do, as long as it isn't some super cheap sketchy one.

I'd go ahead and buy that one, since it's probably equivalent to most out there.
Just a data point from my own experience. The first year I had a butane torch fired vape (Lotus) I tried to use cheap Ronson (red cap) butane, and I had 3 or 4 torches get clogged, lose reliability or completely fail. Since changing to better butane, first Vector and then the Premium Collibri, I have lost no torches and had none become unreliable (other than from purely mechanical failures). I think the higher pressure or higher volume valve of the Torch lighters are more sensitive to impurities in the butane. YMMV but this has been my experience.
A single failed lighter more than pays for the increased cost of premium butane.

Has anyone used Bernzomatic brand butane fuel from Home Depot? Its only $5 for the big can

I am talking about for the Dynavap branded 3 flame torch "Vertigo"

Bernzomatic_butane_BF55.png
I bought some Bernzo a few months ago and used it in my dual scorch torch and it ruined it. The flame never stops fluttering, it won't even fire without being turned up twice as high as it used to work, it is really upsetting to me as that was my favorite torch. Could just have been a one-off kind of thing, but I gave it away after that. I've run dozens of tanks of quality butane through it trying to see if that would fix it, but I eventually gave up

I understand that, but 400ml Ronson here in Brazil costs ~R$16 (~U$5) while the only "pure" butane I could find is Xikar Purofine which costs ~R$100 (~U$32).

I'll probably get the Xikar later (I got one can of Ronson before knowing it was crap, so I'll use it to the end), but I can't help but wonder that maybe replacing torches would be cheaper than using the premium butane.
It might be cheaper in your position in Brazil. Dunno know. All I do know is use of cheaper butane correlates to shorter torch lighter jet life. I couldn't tell you which direction is more economical for you in Brazil.

Cheers

Yep. And it must be very frustrating to have a torch ruined, even a cheap one.

I'll probably give the Ronson away and get the Xikar, I think that butane is good enough, right?

That's an interesting data point. Here's mine:

I've been using the same single flame butane torch (one of the small "gun-shaped" ones, I'm unsure of the brand name) for the past 8 or 9 years. I've used all kinds in butane in it, usually very cheap cans, and it still works as good as the day I bought it. I figured the butane kind didn't matter, but maybe it's just my torch that handles impurities surprisingly well.

Where are you UK/European vapcap-ers sourcing your VapCaps from? I've been intrigued for a while and to add an M to my humble arsenal seems like a no brainer! Finding one in the UK however, isn't that easy and postage/customs on a US package just makes it a little less attractive.

@paddysc there are no customs charges on parcels from dynavap because the parcels are sent listed as having low value. This may be a problem if you had to reclaim a parcel via insurance but they rarely go missing in transit and I have a feeling dynavap would help reimburse you somehow if it did happen.

Also they arrive in the UK in around a week.

Source: just received my first package from them and I live in the UK

I can confirm @VanCough's experience, my Omni arrived without customs charges.

Also at the moment DynaVap are offering free shipping so nows the time to grab an M if you want one.

@VapeFiend.com (www.vapefiend.co.uk) sells some DynaVap products but I don't think they have the M model yet.

+1 on avoiding the cheap butane. Have had similar experiences as many noted here. Lighter quality/cost seems to have much less to do with it than butane quality.

I've got some cheapo lighters (and decent ones) that go and go with decent butane. Have had issues with both cheapos and decent lighters with crappy (Benzo, Ronson, Zippo) butane.

Speaking of lightning...

Looks like the Ti Omnivaps will only be back in production toward the end of the month, as their focus is on the M right now (Source).

If anyone (like me) managed to get an order through after they showed as being out of stock, don't expect it to ship out for at least a week or two. I personally don't mind the wait, I'm just happy to have gotten it at the sale price even if it takes a while to get it.

OK, if I order the "M" is there anything (spare parts), I need to include in my order?

To be extra safe you should include:

High-temp titanium o-ring kit

SS Condenser o-ring kit

1 pack of either SS CCD Screens or Ti CCD Screens

Fat mouthpiece if you want to use your M with a glass piece.

I also highly recommend getting either a Dynastash or at least a Dynamagnet to glue to the plastic doob tube.

Can someone re-post the "butane impurities chart" that was posted previously. I searched and cannot find. It was maybe 10 days ago so back about 150 pages ;)
And where can that go permanently, for easy to find viewing?

Resource created here:

The quality of the butane

The quality of the butane relates to how well filtered it is, the higher the quality the less contaminants are left to clog up the lighter jets during use.

Below is a table of the residual PPM contaminants in butane by brand, the lower the PPM the less contaminants there are to clog up your lighter.

Notice how much the PPM jumps when you get to 'Ronson', this is why it is best to avoid low quality fuel like 'Ronson'.

The above table was captured from a Skunk Pharm Research article about BHO

*Mercaptans are odorants added to the butane to assist in its detection.

The correct technique for using the butane to refill a lighter

lighter_refill1.jpg

Step 1.
First locate the refill nozzle and flame adjustment screw (photo 1).

Step 2. Drain all existing fuel from the lighter using a pen, small screwdriver, or some other small pointed object by depressing the fuel refill nozzle (photo 2). I have found that turning the lighter right-side-up (with refill nozzle pointing toward the ground) helps get the last bit of air out.

Step 3. Turn the flame adjustment screw all the way clockwise to shut off all fuel flow (photo 3). You should see a plus (+) or minus (-) sign near the adjustment screw, which corresponds to open and shut, respectively.

Step 4. With the fuel refill nozzle on your lighter pointing up, press the can of fuel straight down into the nozzle. Be patient, a lighter does not become refilled in 2 seconds. Take your time. It will take 15-seconds or so to fill the lighter chamber. DO NOT pump the fuel can into the lighter. On some of the less expensive lighters, this could cause the tank to rupture.

Step 5. After refilling, let the lighter rest until it reaches room temperature. The fuel is cold when refilling and will expand as it reaches normal temperatures. You can also wrap your hand around the lighter to allow your hand temperature to warm the fuel.

Step 6. Turn the flame adjustment screw ½-turn counter clockwise(toward the + position) and try to light the lighter. Keep turning the screw open in small increments until the lighter lights and is at the desired flame height. Make minor adjustments as necessary.

I just noticed I got an email from Eric at Dynavap at 3:02 this morning. 2 actually, but one was a dupe. ;) George has crew that like working overnight. I have this feeling that DynaVap is a great place to work.

So, I added to my order. (What a shock) I made a mistake when I did it and repeated the first part of the order along with what I added. Oops. And I wasn't even buzzed.

I emailed Eric back and called (OCD is what it is) and got George on the phone. I think George is having a good time, what could be better.

If DynaVap were a little closer I might head over there for a job. :)

Added: Just FYI, I have had a better experience with the premium Collibri than the chart above would suggest, but YMMV.
