Thank you for your suggestions...but ...I've been a friend of Mary Jane for over 50 years...I've used devices you couldn't imagine...I know how to adjust my lips...and trust me this GH bites (gets hot) at mid temp...i will try a lower setting....They supply a silicone mouthpiece for a reason....It's just a hassle to have to put it on and take it off......don't get me wrong I do like the GH..it does deliver a one two punch....It is working fine and doing what it is supposed to be doing.....I've been lucky and never experienced a warranty problem with any of my devices....Mighty, Crafty, FF2, Pax2....

Hi! Let me ring in to say welcome and that it seems a lot of us here have taken some time to get used to the Hopper. A minute to learn, a lifetime to master? Not quite, but many have, at some point, used that, "I've been doing it wrong!" exclamation.
Lots of us have the depth of experience that you do. My initial reactions were along the same lines are yours re; heat in mouthpiece. Without talking at all about technique I will predict an adjustment to your method that may surprise or even please you. While I still acknowledge the heat, I also have found that I can usually handle it, at least as long as it's not successive hits on high temp.
So my overall suggestion is to give it some time, even a little patience.
Sometimes I'll use the condom, though more typically as a water adapter!
I also have and love a Mighty. I find the flavors coming out of the Hopper to be superior through the whole temp range, but especially first couple of hits in the midrange. And because it will vape a given quantity in fewer hits (convection efficiency) the actual effect can be stronger with even less material, imo.

Just got my Hopper today! I ordered it on November 17 and was told to expect a December delivery.

It's like a portable E-nano! freaking awesome! As an added bonus the condom works great with my travel master 2000 (stainless steel bong)

So I ordered 3 extra batteries. Is it better to charge everything or just keep 2 in rotation?

I keep 3 batteries in rotation and use an external charger. I'll let the battery experts weigh in on degradation if batteries are not used (and the best way to preserve them).

This guy definitely turns me off.
His method is yet another superstitious behavior, as even he admits he doesn't understand it. Straight to blue may very well have to do with the heat sensor, but I'm not taking this fellow's word for it regardless of how insistent he is or whether he calls people a pussy for not trying his 'method'.

@TheDudeNextDoor I got 2 hoppers from bobinthesaab. Cannot attest to their longevity as I am not vaping these days. No problems with registry, or quality. Got 1 ti, and 1 SS from him.

So far i'm impressed with HL's RMA process. They said they would get back in 3 days, but it was more like 6 hours. I have to send everything back (GH + charger (which i never use) + battery) X 3 GH's.

Just me and my og ss for the next few weeks!

@moondog thoughts are with you brotha....i lost my 8 month old puppy last year due to vaccinosis, it was an excruciating journey and I still feel a hole in my soul from it. Nothing beats puppies and kittens, not even the GH, not even 420 (but it's close!)

The FC pets thread was a bright ray, so thanks for that Mr. Me2. Wifey enjoyed it as well but we couldn't get all the way through. The thread is not quite hopper-like in length, but there sure are a lot of FC pets out there. Also, I got your PM but just haven't had a chance to respond. Will do so next, I hope.

All the shit continues to hit every fan available here. Been up since 3 am (goddam pain) and my mom (in her '80s and failing fast) is in crisis (both physical and psychological) 3 hours away. I'm too sick to travel and my brother, who has been on the front lines of this situation for years, threw his back out two days ago walking his dogs. Things seem to have calmed down through his herculean efforts but harsh recent experience indicates that could change any second. The Wood Brothers show that I've been looking forward to for months is starting to look iffy which sucks even more since I found out yesterday that a bunch of my best friends from previous workplace will be there.

But, ya know, other than that, things are great.

One way or another, though, my T break is ending tonight.

Hayzeus Marimba, biohacker, I am so sorry. That's terrible. We lost our other cat last May when he threw a clot. That was a seriously harrowing final trip to the vet. His brother - the one we lost last month - was bereft and that added to the pain. (Sorry, not trying to one up you here. All this shit is just pouring out. Just suddenly got really dusty in here. Do you get blazé / tired / fatigué of the convection method the GH give you ? Is it for the fun of changing pace.. ? Could be just a void filler when your GH return to HQ for a fix (RMA).

Once you go convection you never go back ? (to conduction)

I could use your opinion here.. i recently ordered a TI becose i want it to work so much.. but its my first vape and i am prepare to get a second portable vaporizer when my Ti will fail (i would rather not but i guesstimate 50% chances, being in the february GH batch.. could it be less prone to defects? )

Welcome @DocBurN ! And congrats on your Herculean reading adventure.

For me, I have found that I prefer convection to conduction, but variety is the spice of life and sometimes circumstances justify conduction (like social settings or if you just feel like a session).

Fingers crossed you never need a warranty claim with your gh, but having a backup is never a bad idea. And just one vape would be so lonely...

And @moondog, I couldn't bring myself to "like" your post. Hopes, well wishes, and prayers to you is the best I can offer, I'm afraid. Jeez, you deserve a break!

I'm not one of the conduction cravers, but I think it may be that conduction vapes are more suited to "session" vaping? I am not a session person though. Even when I was a smoker I would only take a couple tokes and refuse the peer pressure of "come on man, finish the bowl with us!"

For me, the hopper reins supreme. No conduction needed.

I never vape(these days), but when I did vape it was Convection only! We should start a new thread called Fuck Conduction. I for one will never go back to the steady cooking, hurry up before the flavor's gone, I think I am high, days of conduction. YMMV. At least neither of my Hoppers SHOULD fail on me while they await my return.

At first I just read their fix and wasn't a fan, it seems very extreme and more than I would be comfortable recommending. Then after reading your comment I went back and read the comments on Reddit.

I love convection and I have both a Grasshopper and a Firefly2. If I only had one vape it would be conduction and between the two the grasshopper.

The reason I have a conduction companion is because it's a different experience, closer to smoking in terms of the action. I can take one or two hits off my grasshopper and be high for a fair bit of time, conversely I like "vaping" for 10 minutes with my Davinci while drinking a coffee or beer like it was a cigarette and be only 7 out of 10 instead of 15 out of 10 which would be the case ripping a GH for 10 minutes

We should start a new thread called Fuck Conduction.

I can't fit the toothbrushes I've come across around the house that are ready for retirement, but I'm sure there might be ones that fit better... But here's what I do for the threads...

Mostly Blue Tack (or however you spell that fuckin' thing) on the "regular basis". ISO Qtip semi-regular...
Then, every couple of weeks (I'm a constant user), I take a few small drops of DeToxit and place them on the inside threads and backend threads, and screw the pieces together IN A HORIZONTAL or even tilted toward the clicker. Unscrew, screw, back and forth, let it sit horizontally for a few minutes.
Then unscrew and wipe off a lot of oxidation. Finish with a ISO wipe on threads.

Hope this helps... I do like the toothbrush idea... I gotta find one that is small enough to fit well.

I'll bite, the caveat being that as a sorta former cigarette smoker I enjoy the act in its own rite apart from the result ...

Or put another way, sometimes I want to take a road trip and sometimes I have to be there so I fly.

The other caveat, pursuant to the first is that I tend to "spliff" my conduction sessions meaning I add tobacco and usually other herbs

That said the amount of cannabis I load in a Grasshopper and IQ are about the same actually.

My usual method of using a grasshopper is putting in a pinch or so and temp stepping that bowl over 5-10 hits over the course of a few hours.

My method for the IQ is a load a bowl vape the whole thing for 10 minutes and dump it after.

So the final caveat being yes assuming the same amount of cannabis, I get to the same "destination" just different travel modes

all that said, probably one might get to 22 if the bowl is full in an IQ and it's only cannabis, but it will take you 10 minutes to get there, where the GH you can get to 15 in about 20 seconds

Conduction vs convention for me with the right device so flavor is within range is mostly about driving vs flying

I think this helps me to describe why I'm growing fonder everyday for my FW4. I love the Hopper whilst on the "mental" go, but in the eve when I'm chilling, the FW4 is a slower vape experience, like sipping a fine brandy versus the more sudden shot of tequila.

Understood, you've been talking about conduction vs convection... My Pax hasn't seen the light of day since I can now go solo with the Hopper and session with the FW.

But yeah they do offer something different, like a joint you session as it constantly cooks while taste and effects decline, but easy to pass with however many people who don't need to think or press anything, just inhale.

As a mostly solo vaper these days on demand pure convection has totally spoiled me for session conduction vapes in every way when it comes to a satisfying experience, and for two to three people even a manual convection vape can be fine (though sure GH has its limitations as you are well aware-- load more low temps you can hit that bowl all day, load less high temps it's a one hitter).

I think the bigger picture here is how almost every vape is a different experience really with its own signature. You get piece tolerance for anything so it's nice to mix it up, when you truly want to fuck combustion back ups are a must because all things break or need service. So many of us even have multiple convection vapes (I have quite a few I enjoy much more than the GH in fact) that can each give us something unique.

Aside from going the conduction route (a cheap one could be a good idea to try it out, and/or just use with others, don't need to spend IQ money yet imo) I would actually suggest going analog to get a really distinct experience vs your eventual Grasshopper. Prime among those vapes are VapCap, Lotus, VapMan, StickyBrick Jr, and Noochie, all great on demand vapes with different versions of convection, conduction, or hybrid heating that make for powerful unique vapor signatures.

Seems like you are pretty well prepared to enjoy the Grasshopper though

FWIW, Caroline told me the straight to blue issue has a random cause.

I've yet to try the reddit posts fix on mine, but I'd say it'd be a reasonable thing to try.
However ISO on the heater can lead to cop light issues.

I'll probably just send mine in for testing, plus the more cases HL see of this issue, the better the chance they have at engineering a fix
