Discontinued The Grasshopper

I been thinking about if I should get just another hopper instead of a different vape and a different rollecoaster but how is the FW4 working out for .. Uh.. Who just bought a Firewood4?
Haven't tried the Firewood4 myself.
The Milaana may be my next purchase but I am absolutely loving my Sticky Brick, IMO it is the tastiest vapor I have ever had, and having a butane vape as a back up just makes sense.

Just a note on warranty speed: I've been waiting 5 weeks for a replacement green Ti backend. Mine stopped clicking, and would sometimes stay on. Obviously an issue with the spring. A week or so ago I was told that they were waiting on a "highly specialized part" so they could assemble my backend, and to expect shipping next week.

I got an email with tracking 2 days ago, and my package just arrived this morning!

The only problem is it contains a Body, and not a Backend.
A follow up to this post--

I just received my new backend in the mail. My serial number is now 8xxx instead of 1xxx.

Like others have noted: the newer Ti backend temp adjustment is smoooooth turning compared to the stuttered turn of my old backend.

I have a body that has only been used a couple weeks before the backend stopped clicking, and the original front end's threads didn't fit with this new body, so now I essentially have a brand new hopper. I'm also using a ghb2 battery for the following:

A quick heat test on t3 produced very good heat at the front end, ZERO heat at the clip ring (PLEASE let this last!!) and nearly inaudible ticking (I used to believe loud ticking was indicative of better performance, as every time I got my last backend to tick louder by fussing with it i was treated with better performance, and vice versa.)

My initial impression is that HUGE improvements have been made in the backend Pcb and voltage regulator since the early models.

One strange thing I noticed is that this new backend screws on really TIGHT with what looks like about a turn or 2 left until it would be completely flush with the body. I don't care though. It roughly matches the small gap under the dial. Both gaps are even. My old backend's clip ring was slightly crooked, which produced a slightly uneven gap.

My ONLY complaint so far is that the 8xxx backend's laser engraving is not a star crisp as my old one.

Then again, I'm a little more than a year older since getting my first one. Could be my eyes haha.

I'll check in after some time with this new backend.

Renewed grasshopper love never felt so....ah whatever. I will NOT become too attached again... I will NOT become too attached again...I will NOT become too attached again...I will NOT become too attached again... lol

EDIT: I almost forgot to mention, about that body they sent me in error...they apologized and told me they priority shipped my backend...

here's the kicker: they said "Be sure to return your original Backend and that Body we just sent you. DO NOT USE THE NEW BODY or I will have to charge you for it."

Ha...I understand where they're coming from, but this "NEW BODY" looks like a "REFURBISHED BODY." I hope they can tell I didn't use it. But I also have no idea how they would "charge me for it" without my authorization. Whatever.

Can we all agree that "Caroline" is a clever name for their service department? Remember, these guys started out in North CAROLINa before moving to CO. coincidence? Yeah, maybe. But I'm pretty sure there is no "Caroline." Does anyone even know anyone named Caroline? lol

I am considering to buy a sticky bricks hydro maxx as a backup to my ghs... can you compare sticky bricks with gh regarding cloud size, taste, efficency (how much clouds do you get out of a bowl and how much herb do you use)

do you think the sticky bricks would be a good back up for my ghs... (will use it mostly at home)
did see vapefiend is selling the bricks for 165 pounds and gh ss for 199 pounds... so it is hard to decide if I should buy a sticky bricks hydro maxx or a third gh... I only would have to put 34 pounds on to the165 pounds and could get a third gh... sticky bricks is not really cheap compared to a gh...

The Sticky Brick meets or exceeds the Grasshopper in every level of performance except ease of use. It's still pretty easy to use, but there is a learning curve. It produces huge tasty clouds.

The Brick is really more of a butane powered cordless desktop, it's not huge but it's definitely not going to fit in your pocket. I couldn't recommend it more, I think everyone should have one, it could theoretically last a lifetime.

If you have two Grasshoppers already I suggest getting something different, it doesn't have to be a Brick. I think two Grasshoppers is ideal, although I have to admit I've considered ordering a third one, the blue just looks so beautiful. It's nice to have a different vaporizer and vape signature for tolerance reasons, plus peace of mind considering the Grasshopper's reliability.

The Grasshopper is the king of performance when it comes to true pocket vapes in my opinion. The combination of size, stealth, and performance are just unrivaled currently. For a medical user being able to medicate so discreetly and quickly while on the go is a big deal.

Concentrate pens are an option, but the diy/box mods require a lot of maintenance and the prepackaged ones are pretty weak in my opinion. With good material and temps 4-5 the Hopper hits harder than the prepackaged pens I have used. I like concentrates but I like my flowers too. Especially when they're lab tested for purity and potency.

Yes!

Agreed. Biggest clouds I've ever gotten and the flavor is unbelievable.

I couldn't recommend it more
Totally agreed.

The other things with the Sticky Bricks line-up is the entire experience of it. It is for all intents and purposes, like smoking a bowl/bong.
The price is right.
Pack whatever size bowl you like.
Micro-dosing is not a problem!

No batteries charged up?...no freaking problem.

Also, contrary to reports, I've never had to stir to get even and thoroughly cooked abv.

Lol not this Carolinegate business again :p

I know of two Carolines. The first is named in the famous Neil Diamond tune. The second is a character who appears in a series of graphic novels and comics by the brilliant Matt Howarth. (EXCELLENT hoppered reading, BTW.) She is a clone. And she kicks ass. Like the women of The Expanse kick ass. Only she was doing it in the '80s.

Therefore, using all of the alternative facts (and I do mean ALL the facts; the best facts; no one has more facts) at our disposal and applying extensive hopperization to the problem before us, our team of experts here at MoonDog Control have determined that the GHL "Caroline" is in fact ...... <DRAMATIC PAUSE>..... a clone of Neil Diamond!!!!!!!!!!

Go ahead. Prove me wrong.

i haven't had to do any maintenance with my atty and box mod except clean it and charge it. No cop lights, no tapping on my leg or nothing! :D With the rebuildable v3 there's really nothing that can go wrong that I can't fix myself in 2 minutes.
A lot of the well marketed prepackaged pens are crap, but I'm super impressed with this setup. I also think that while the GH is compact, carrying extra batteries and dry herbs quickly increases the carry size. It's all subjective, but I found this mod more reliable and satisfying than GH. I also don't think GH tastes good enough to be my only vaporizer, but I realize many don't really care about taste. Most will tell you they do then go smoke out of an old resin caked pipe lol.

Idk, I just can't see why anyone would buy a GH right now, maybe I'll try again when the coast is clear. Maybe I expected too much, which was a lot, but I also feel like they promised a lot.

I was under the impression there is a lot of rebuilding and replacing atomizers along with cleaning them for box mods. The Grasshopper's cleaning is simple and isn't required that often in my experience. The Grasshopper requires virtually no maintenance when it's functioning properly, and if it isn't working any fixes should be viewed as short term solutions to keep you going during the warranty process. I don't even clean my backend threads, I clean my mouthpiece once a month at the most and it only takes a couple minutes of effort.

Box mods are also fairly bulky, more so than the Grasshopper and the space in my pockets is already at a premium. I've got nothing against them and if they work for you that's great, but my point still stands that the Grasshopper is in a league of its own, especially compared to flower vapes. The only competition are concentrate based solutions with their own inherent drawbacks and advantages.

I would never recommend the Grasshopper as someone's only vaporizer either, its not necessarily ideal for home use for example. I would recommend any vaporist to have two different vaporizers, unless you have very specific needs perhaps.

There's no replacing atomizers unless you blow one up. They could last many months. I prefer ceramic atomizers as coils get gunked up and do need to be replaced pretty often. An ISO clean is necessary, but since it's typical for cleaning my Vapcap, my volcano, my Air stems, etc it feels pretty standard.

The GH is in a league of its own, no doubt. I just can't help but feel like it's small, but at the expense of short battery life. I had 3 batteries. You might want to check out some of the newer mods, they are very tiny and last me all day at the beach.

Here's a size comparison I posted in another thread. The air with short stem and the silicone sleeve removed make it look a lot smaller. It's pretty pocketable I think in that configuration. Heat up time is its biggest drawback IMO.

Ok, im seriously thinking of buying a SS hopper real soon.... I need a stealth unit and I think this vape gonna suit my need.
do you guy recommend buying spare battery directly from hopper lab?
Do you think I'm able to find batteries for the hopper in regular vape store? Are they commun battery ??
Does the titanium version worth the + 60CAD$ ??

The batteries are a custom size and you have to get them from ghl. But they're fairly cheap; I recommend you have at least 3.

The difference between the ss and ti are minor IMO. Personally, I'd save the money and get a ss. You can spend your savings on some of @Ratchett's gh accessories!

I'm a big fan of the FW4, it's my preferred portable. I like the capsule system because I can go out with several capsules pre-loaded and be good to go for a while. It's very stealthy, you practically palm it, and it's fun to hold.

I like my hopper for home use, I rather enjoy it through some glass, dry lately.
I will take it outside sometimes but the mouthpiece does sometimes get hot and I think it's probably not that convenient to reload on the fly. So if I take it outside it's because I know that I'll be satisfied with the one load.

Then of course, it's always fun to carry both outside and go back and forth between them. That makes for a pleasant afternoon.

I wonder what other GH owners think of the Davinci IQ? I'm kinda envious of that 80 minute battery life and native support for water pipes. But again it's a fairly expensive and no doubt a road with a few bumps just like the Hopper.

I'm still going to wait to see what Arizer do before I assess a 3rd portable vape. Maybe I'm due a desktop...

I wouldn't even dare to compare the Hopper to the IQ! Hopper is years ahead every way you look at it, ok, except battery life, but then again if it had better batteries it would be bigger and heavier. And pricing? IQ should probably cost a hundred bucks less for what it is... Or Hopper a hundred more? Shhhh....

I have a Davinci IQ. It's a great conduction vape, far superior to the pax2 for a session vape. I agree though that the Grasshoppper is the better device. I'm glad I have both, but if I could only have one, it would be the grasshopper ... which is actually the situation I find myself in now, I had to send my Davinci back for an RMA, it had a cracked bowl, seems fairly common on this launch.

To compare CS, I think I emailed about the crack first about 2 weeks ago, which was about 2 days after I got it, it took about a week to get an RMA number, I sent it back FedEx on my dime and we'll see when I get it back.

Sure pretty much my entire experience so far with the IQ has been in the RMA zone, I'm not throwing shade on Davinci, just giving some perspective. Sure they are a much more "established" vape company than GHL, but it's still a VAPE company, young and in a new space and in the middle of the product launch.

Sure, wish my IQ hadn't broke and the service was faster, it doesn't detract that it is a great vape for what it is.

Yeah this is exactly what I mean by the entertaining but not at all useful speculation. I know Caroline, I see her around town sometimes, she's cool, you should be cool to her, she is a real person after all.

Damn it! YOUR A LIZARD PERSON AND a part of the global flat earth conspiracy to collect salvia samples from some cool cats that love a good convection vaporizer!!!

I KNEW IT! just needed to use my Davinci-code math and puzzle skills to understand that "Caroline" stood for "car 'o' line" that is how they get cars down to the middle of the earth or hanging from a LINE!

If no one hears from me again then you know what has happened :tinfoil:

I don't know what scares me more. The though that they are naming each one of their support tech Caroline, or the thought that the entirety of their support line is being handled by only one person who goes by the name of Caroline....

She's a receptionist, no?
Works front of house, handles emails, buys coffees, packs and sends boxes.

They have plenty of other staff. They announced the got 4 new assembly technicians last July for eg., and there's been more since and before too
