Hey Mi lovers! :)

Now, I know that we are only dealing with a very small area to sand in this instance, but I just wanted to remind everyone to be aware of the issue of glass dust safety, as sanding glass can create airborne silica dust particles which can then be inhaled into the lungs - with long term exposure ultimately giving the potential to cause serious health problems.

Of course, I know the exposure and risk here is likely to be very minimal, however, the physical characteristics of glass particles created through sanding – very small and hard with sharp points or edges - are scary enough to cause concern!

Therefore, it is advisable that this type of dust should be kept out of the lungs in any amount.

So do your research, take the necessary precautions, and stay safe, folks

@Vapenvy are shards not a concern when sanding glass? Or should this all be done outside with safety equipment?

Because I do have broken stems that potentially could be saved with a sand. But I don't have safety equipment...smh

I am no expert, just an enthusiastic DIY'er, but I would say that sanding glass would carry some risk so would recommend doing it outside with a safety mask.

Having said that, when i did my 18mm @DDave stem (the only thing in the kit which didn't fit, including 2 reducers) i couldn't find my mask so i just put a tea towel over my face (like i said, enthusiastic DIY'er). I also rinsed with water and wiped it every time before i tested it in the Milaana and then gave it a thorough rinse, ISO clean and wipe down with rags and q-tip before use. Plus I vacuumed my balcony after. Probably overkill, but why not...

I cleaned up a broken Nano stem the same way, plus smoothed the cracked end of one of my short Mi stems after a drop.

Edit- I just want to add that when i say the DDave 18mm didn't fit, my Milaana screen depth is only 15/16 inch (23mm) so in theory i shouldn't have bought the kit, but I did knowing the risk, and assuming I could sand it down if needed. Despite this, both reducers fit perfectly out of the box, and the 18mm stem fits great after sanding down.

Thanks! I think I am the same way with my DIY projects. I just jump in...

One time I was making some BHO and tried to speed up the process with a small flame under the pot of water...

It was all good until my arm caught in fire!

Luckily I was okay...but the point is, when I heard about the sanding I was so anxious to try it I didn't think about any risks and then it hit me...so I had to ask...I'll probably going to try it on a couple stems. Thanks for the info.

To mitigate the hazard of silica dust created by sanding, use wet rated sandpaper and a small amount of water. The glass dust will not become airborne, and the water will help the sandpaper be more effective..
Sweet. Does sanding glass go as fast as sanding wood?

Got my @DDave V3 mod today. That was FAST!!! First 2 runs through were excellent. Vapor was flavorful and was so smooth I killed both bowls in one hit each...I normally flavor chase a bit more. An excellent addition to an excellent vaporizer.

One question about the Milaana though, does any else sometimes struggle with proper placement of the battery/cover? On more than a few occasions I've thought my was drained or my button had an issue, after a little experimenting I think I may have been premature in my assessment and maybe the battery or the lid just needed an adjustment. Is it just me?

Got my Milaana from Planetvape.ca yesterday! (so fast, thanks guys) This thing sure is efficient! I can't believe the clouds I'm getting from such miniscule amounts, very refreshing seeing the tiny amount of AVB compared to the mountain I was acquiring with my SSSV.

Still taking me a little bit to get the hang of it though.. I can't take very long draws so getting the rhythm down is a little tricky. I seem to have a lot more success with the more restrictive stems and using it through water. The long 18mm stem seems to be the hardest for me to get the best results, but that's also the coolest one so I definitely want to try and get a good method worked out. I sure don't mind the practise though :D.

Unfortunately I seem to be having one of the most clumsy weeks of my life and somehow managed to break 2 stems in the first 2 days of owning it . Purely my fault, not used to how easily they can slip out yet! Ah well, now I have an excuse to order some of DDave's lovely looking mods:nod:!

I managed a month with no breakages and couldn't understand the problems everyone seemed to be posting, I was using the pic mod as a stem holder ( I'm a clumsy furker myself). Week ago my OG shorty fell from my pocket on removal on a dog walk and shattered. I was so gutted  the thing was thick with THC. First of many I'm sure and I'm unhappy to have joined the club but those are the brakes.

The only vape I have with a similar mouthpiece is the air which is so tight on my unit I could pick it up with the stem, so I think that contributed to my mishaps.

Just wanted to give a quick shout out to @DDave. Ordered his V3 kit to replace my tragically short lived stems and I can't believe the level of customer service. He contacted me right away just at the mention of me picking up his mods in this thread (which I didn't even remember to tag him in!). He solved a shipping issue and had my order shipped within 3 minutes of receiving my payment. 10/10 would buy again.

I was a lurker here for a long time so I know how it feels to hear the mention of all these custom mods and pieces and dismiss them as second rate work or, as I had, too pricey/inconvenient to bother with. So far my experience with @DDave completely exceeds my expectations; definitely give his stuff a look!

Still loving my milaana, especially since I switched to the brown batteries. I posted one of my one-hitters and it looked burnt in the middle and green on the edges like it always does, but the abv is usually pretty even when I dump it out. If it's not I'll mix in a little fresh and go again. I need to try the 14mm mod.
