I am so impressed with this thing! I'll post a review (later on) and try to make it easy to read with Pros and Cons. I'll say off the bat that the issue that initially disappointed me was heat control. Well, I've parked the EVO, Volcano, just sold the Plenty, and I have to pick up my Vortex stem for my Solo on Monday. So, just this device. I notice leaving it at 6, I can be in pain and just suck up what is pre-prepped and it perfectly browns it, and only needs one stir. This is because of heat soaking, and I learned the heat and whether or not the unit is soaked and what kind of draw you just took depends on your next. What I mean is, after 3 draws the heat soak that extracted so well is gone. In this case I was climbing temps slow and not darkening the material. Long story short is that is seems the trick is to start at 6, heat soaked, and now I've learned to jump straight to 7-7.5 in order for the heater to get hot enough to perform like an extremely long heat soak at 6.

So, I am getting consistent and proper vapor with a heat soak at 6, and once the temp seems to struggle to keep up a bit, it is already pretty second nature to understand how high to bump it up for your next draw. I don't have to keep temp climbing after this. If I'm constantly pulling and keeping the heating element struggling, the number I turn it up to is where it stays until I am finished with a session, always keeping in mind if I walk away for a bit I need to turn it down, first, so I don't get a heat soaked hit at setting 8... And yes, it conserves. My actual review should be a lot more organized, but I wanted to comment , because it seems to be doing well.

P. S. If anyone would like me to take images and upload a tutorial of how to use a Storz and Bickel fine screen to eliminate even the finest particles from entering the stem (and your mouth), let me know and I'll show you 2 options and explain the results, with one option being to put the more coarse factory screen inside of the Volcano fine screen to give it more support if for some reason you feel it needs it. Draw resistance seems unnoticeably different from the basic screen, and the only build up you'll ever get in your glass are oils. Not a single flake enters the tube. Nothing but oils, and no more dust in the mouth, ever. My glass screened stem fills my mouth with dust and can't use it, but my mistake on ordering it. I highly suggest the adjustable tube, and cannot suggest enough an S&B fine screen. If you need the long tool I have just let me know, because I know some use a pick and wouldn't be able to get a fine screen from the top of the mouthpiece to where it needs to be, and with the little tool I have, you just simply push the screen to the recommended position. Putting the stock screen on top of a flat S&B fine screen, centering it and pushing it thru will shape the fine screen like the stock. Then pull out the tougher screen and press the fine screen thru until it reaches the suggested position, and you're good and particle free!

Hey guys, been getting better with the enano but...

Last night the nano actually caught a fringe on my window curtain (completely my own stupid fault). Nothing mega bad happen, no fire or anything, it just smoldered/burned a single fringe.

However, now some of the charred fringe is stuck to the rod/heating element. I scraped most of it off, but there's one little bit below the line where the glass stem rests that seems to just not come off. Advice?

leave it on for like 24 hours and then hit it with a wire brush.

Quick tip, apologies if this has been mentioned before: this weekend I got a chance to try out the E-Nano with my newly received D020-D water tool. This was my first time vaping through a bong. Except for one problem: I was late ordering the 18mm GonG adapter, and haven't received it yet.

However, the stock E-Nano tube (14mm with screen and exterior silicone) can work. I just pushed the silicone "finger guard" down to about 1.5 inches from the other end (i.e. near where your mouth would go if using dry). Then the silicone acts as a seal between the tube and the water tool.

So if you break or lose your GonG, or just want to save a few bucks, you can get by with the stock tube!

Cool @LazyVaper, thanks for the tip.
I bought my eNano because of the rave reviews here, my j-hook because it was recommended, and the D020-D bubbler because it was recommended.
Every thing I know about my eNano I learned here.

So thanks to all the longtimers and frequent posters who preach the word and never fail to make a newcomer feel welcome here.

This is a nice little corner of the internet.

I’d like to get a water tool, but I want to use it dry. I dislike bongs (although I may put water in whatever I get every so often). Looking at the glass thread and this one, it seems the D020-D is all the rage, but would that do for dry usage just to cool the vapor a tad? I also like the idea of setting the Nano on top of the WT. I considered a J-Hook, but I’d rather get something that has a base. I also would like the draw to be as easy as possible. Would the D020-D fit the bill?

Did you get it at DHgate? How long did it take to get to you?

I ordered my D020-D from DHgate on August 20. It shipped on August 21. It was delivered on September 2 or 3 (not sure which, was out of town).

While this order had no problems, I won't order from DHgate again. Placing the order implicitly put me on their marketing email list. Numerous attempts to use the "unsubscribe" link have not worked. So I had to add them to my spam filter. Still getting emails as of a few days ago. :(

DHgate usually takes 2 to 3 weeks sometimes sooner. I've gotten pieces within 10 days from when I ordered. It does put you on their mailing list but so does everyone else. You do save substantially on glass. You can use a water tool dry. I do that all the time.

With DHgate the glass is pretty cheap compared to the name brand WTs. If something breaks late at night because you are medicated and tired, it's not so bad to lose $30 verses $300.

The j hook is a nice addition to the nano plus several other vaporizers that I use. My j hook I bought through Planetvape it was $20. I see j hooks through DHgate for $10. The j hook and the WT help to cool the vapor with a longer air path.

My Nano will be happy because I just ordered a JoDa stem and GonG for her to wear. She's going to be looking pretty nice. I've been admiring the above picture, I've seen it before and just love the look.

Nice write up! Anxious to see the full review. One thing struck me though... "temp seems to struggle to keep up a bit". Not sure exactly what you mean here, but if I'm reading you right this is something I've never experienced with a nano with more than 3 1/2 years of nearly daily use. I've tried, and many others who've used my nanos have tried, to draw the heat down. That never happens, and the only consistent result is usually a good bit of coughing. So, are you saying the heat draws down with continued hitting - or that all the actives that can be drawn out at that heat are now spent?

If it's the latter, no big. That's going to happen with any material, in any vape, at any temp. Please do let the forum know if it is the former and any other pertinent info not included above. Could be a technique thing. Or, may just be you have killer lung strength and capacity. :)

Did you get it at DHgate? How long did it take to get to you?

Ain't it the truth!

Ahhhhhh.... water tools. If you're going dry all the time and just want some swirling and cooling a nice j-hook could do the trick. There are some on DHgate, and other cheap ones to be found here and there. I like one with a little more airspace in it to allow for more cooling, but they can be tough to find if not going custom. Some nice customs come up in the classifieds thread from time to tome, but even those can be a little pricey. I'm sure many good suggestions could be had from the fine nanoers on this thread, and a little poking around on the web may turn up a few more.

D020 and other related bubblers do fine dry, too. Really nice for a few reasons... cool vapor, you can see the thickness/volume of your vapor and helps to perfect your draw technique. I'd say the D020-D is a better choice because there is a little more volume, but others may suit you better. IMO the best bubbler experience is one where a full bubb is a perfect full hit for you. For me, if dry, that would probably be the FC-UFO (also found on DHgate, and damned fine and versatile bubb). That would be a good bit (medium?) sized hit. D020 & -D would probably give a bit less volume (-D more than straight D020). And, nothing wrong with getting a little vapor in you before you clear the bubb. Definitely better than the other way around, where you have some vapor left in the bubb after your comfortable clear. And FWIW, any j-hook is going to have you taking at least 2/3 - 3/4 of your hit before clearing.

IME topside dewar joints (right in the top like D020's) are the way to go with nanos. They usually sit right up on the top with no tipping for easy heat soaking. And, always worth considering a sidecar setup (mouthpiece offset to one side), so the nano isn't right in front of your nose while hitting (rumored to cause crossed eyes! - no not really). Being offset also allows you to watch your vapor more easily wile hitting.

IMO stick with 18mm as much as you can. It gives more wide open air on clearing, and for me is much easier to work with than 14mm. Most pieces you'll probably be looking at are 18mm, too. I've seen some suggest 14mm and an adapter, but adapters can be a pain in the ass and hard to keep track of. It takes a bit more of an adapter to go from 18 to 14mm, but it can be done easily enough if you find that perfect piece and it happens to be 14mm.

You might also consider that you may change your mind on water. Vapor through water is a bit different than pulling snaps (one hits) through a 2 foot straight bong - nano though a bubbler is even more different. Cooling the vapor and condensing a bit to allow for larger hits can be quite a treat. And, since only vapor, the nastiness and clean-up is nothing compared to smoking through water. I don't advise you do it often, but you can even drink the water. It usually has a slightly sweet, "green" taste that is very specific to whatever strain you're using. For me, concerns of sitting water and what could be growing in it prompt me to dump, rinse and refill - not how dirty the vapor has made it.

Clean up is a snap, even if you run a good many loads through it and a week or two of dump and refills. Just dump some ISO alcohol in, let it sit for a couple hours (or overnight), rinse well with hot water and you're usually good to go. You can even save the ISO for repeated cleans. It does get a little darker color of amber with every use, but I use the same bit for a year or more of cleaning and it works fine.

One last thing while I'm here on my glass diatribe. Keep it simple like the ones you've suggested (D020's). IMO the more intricate ones steal a good bit of your flavor through water (and I would think still more than simpler ones dry). The more twists, turns, loops, etc. - the more the vapor will condense inside before getting to your mouth, and I think the "air beating" it takes on its way causes some loss also. And, they are always more difficult to clean and keep clean.

If you're using a water pipe dry there should be minimal draw restriction with the nano.

I've been tempted to get one of these to use as a dry piece, I like how the bottom is flat so it stands up:

http://m.dhgate.com/product/2015-bongs-water-pipes-glass-hammer-6-arm/249445965.html

Must admit I look at those from time to time, too. Only concern is that it doesn't sit flat/stable enough for a nano on top. Would be cool if you could get one that just sits a little back and has two stable feet on front at bottom. The one below kind of does it. nano will sit on top fine though kicked back, but a little too unstable for me to be comfortable doing it in regular use. I only do it long enough to prove to myself it can be done.

My favorite j-hook right now. All I would change is a little bigger for more volume. She is fun to hit like a big sherlock though. I usually just kick back and pretend I'm Gandalf enjoying a fine bowl.:

So my nano arrived yesterday and it's beautiful and even smaller than I thought. I actually thought it was gonna be in the box that had the power cord in it and when it is wasn't I thought it can't possibly be in this other tiny little box can it? Lol

A question about the stems though. My stem is pretty wobbly is that normal? Is every stem different in this regard?

Yep... everyone is surprised by the size, and kind of ashamed to admit it, but I greedily grabbed the power cord box looking for my latest nano, too. You'd think I'd have figured it out by now - even with packaging changes. I have a few of my own, and have ordered a couple for friends. Amazing what you can get out of a little wood cup with a metal liner, eh?

Yes, stems will be wobbly. Some more wobbly than others depending on the glass. The stainless tube seems to be exactly the same from nano to nano. Though it's not a perfect fit and has the potential to let a little air in around the edges, I've found it to be a good thing with both stems and GonG adapters. First, if everything fit really tight, things would probably jam up due to expansion on those longer sessions or sessions with friends. You'll notice the wobble gets to be a little less in these situations as everything heats up. Second, as you get better with your nano you can use the wobble to your advantage by leaning this way or that. If on a bubbler, I sometimes even work it around in a tight circle if I'm thinking about it. This spreads the heat a bit more evenly on the load and helps prevent a hotspot in the middle. The hotspot isn't too bad if you don't lean, and can easily be combated with a quick stir. But, on larger loads leaning helps me get away with one stir late in the load instead of a couple along the way. If doing my usual 2-3 hit extraction, I don't even bother and don't have any issues with the wobble, either.

Thanks @LazyVapor. I feel your pain, but I think I’ll give DHgate a go. I’ve seen horror stories about delivery times but I can wait a couple of weeks.

If something breaks late at night because you are medicated and tired

That’s me. As much as I see all the amazing glass around here, and some of it is stunning, I just need something simple. And replaceable.

Wow, @flotntoke, you’ve distilled dozens of forum pages concerning glass and the nano into a few simple paragraphs. Extremely helpful. The D020-D is probably the best bet for now. But that J-Hook. Where did you get that? THAT I could see using. I think it would be, as @ataxian would say, civilized.

I don't advise you do it often, but you can even drink the water.

That’s good to know, I hadn’t thought of that. Perhaps the nastiest thing about bongs as far as I’m concerned is all that fetid water sloshing around all over the place. That takes care of that.

Yeah, I have pre-measured doses in medicine cups. So, to be fair, there are no breaks, and it simply pulls the heat soak off, and of course it is not a perpetual heating system to keep up with draw speed variations. It can start out browning the material on the first stem on 6, and after the first stem I get a flavor pull, and no real noticeable browning at this point. On the next stem I don't get any visible vapor. I have to turn the heat up on mine after it pulls the heat soak. If I were to leave it on at 7.5 and take a draw after it has been soaking for a while it may be possible to combust. I haven't attempted, haha.

No problem. Plenty of others coming through who will hopefully see all this, too.

Should have also mentioned that it pays to be kind of discerning with DHgate. Just like eBay or anything else, some vendors tend to better than others. SunshineStore has always been good to me and has a good rep with most over in the Cheap Bubbler thread. Link to their D020-D . There are a few others I'd go with over there, but I'd use them for this piece. And, WOW! Can't believe how prices have climbed on this one. Still a great buy though, IMO.

Just for options, here is the FC-UFO I was talking about. It's a great bubb, and super versatile, but if you're going to use the tubing (I love this while kicked back watching the tube), you'll want to replace the hose with something a little more taste neutral and probably healthier. Let me know if you want more info on that part.

This one is worth checking out, too. Nice sidecar with more volume than the D020-D. There is one I like a little better, but can't post here because it has a fake label of a well known glass maker on it. Let me know if you like the style, and I'll pm the link

That j-hook was a custom I had made by Yeti House - a blower who I don't think is taking orders for customs anymore. He came on as a friend of Joda/ @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd. Joda still does AMAZING work, but not sure what his pricing and turnaround time is these days. He's moved on to bigger, better and more beautiful things, but think still does j-hooks and all kinds of cool nano stems/GonGs. Check out his thread. I pop by there often just to see all the great glass porn and drool.;)

This now makes more sense. I didn't realize you were heat soaking so much. Nothing wrong with that. nano is super versatile and many use it in different ways. But, seems like you're relying more on heat soak, instead of "flowing" heat, for your temp. If you're only heating with air flowing through the load while hitting, I think you'll find it is damned near perpetual heating. Well, not quite perpetual, but much more than any human lungs I've seen can overcome. This is what I was getting at above.

For me and many others, heat soak is only for a few seconds to warm the glass and heat to extract is pulled through the load straight from the heater. Most I ever go for heat soak is like 15-20 seconds, then I rely on the hot air pulled through nano on my draw. And, I only do this on first hit of load to warm the glass and kind of "prep" the load. After that, I usually hit as soon as nano is on, then pull it. The only time I leave the nano on the load through my session is when I'm using the j-hook and kicked back on the sofa or the porch. With that, I seldom take heat above 6 and just sip nice lower temp vapor - usually right around 5.5 - 5.75, and the carbed GonG adapter allows me to hit and clear without pulling nano.

If the heat soak method you're using is working for you, enjoy it! And, please share developments in your technique. But, I think you owe it to yourself to try the more standard method a couple times. IMO it's a better nano experience. Instead of slowly roasting your load while keeping it at whatever temp, you're only heating while you're hitting. Maybe not totally accurate, but your method seems more like lighting a bowl while smoking and keeping the ember going. Kind of like smoking a tobacco pipe. The other method is more like lighting a small portion of a bowl on each hit, and letting it go out between hits. I like this much better and it should lead to tastier and more intense hits through each load, but YMMV.

Joda still does AMAZING work, but not sure what his pricing and turnaround time is these days.
At the moment JoDa isn't doing any custom pieces, he's busy doing a large production run for a local shop. I've asked recently as well as a couple others. He usually has a few pre-made pieces available for sale.

He can probably knock out some GonGs or stems though. He did a GonG for me to go with my recycler he made. I actually wanted a custom piece instead of the recycler, but he couldn't do it at the moment. I decided to snatch the recycler and I'm so glad I did, I probably like it more than I would have liked my custom piece.

I still want to get that custom piece made. Hopefully he's done with the production run before too long.

@Vapor Trails are you talking about heat soaking the stem or the nano?

How long are you leaving the nano on before using it?

The nano, like all logs, functions best when it is on constantly. It is best to heat soak it for 20-30 minutes before use. This ensures consistent vapor production from hit to hit.

The nano produces more consistent vapor than any other vape I have. For any given strain, with the same grind, load size, temp level, and technique, I get hits that are very consistent in quality.

The only time it's not consistent is if it's been sitting a while the first hit's temp might be slightly higher and cause more browning than normal. This can be counteracted by giving a quick sharp blow into the heater core before using. I only do this if it's a partially used chamber. If it's a fresh load I find the extra heat actually helps produce vapor faster without any unwanted browning.

I strongly recommend leaving the nano on whenever you're home. It may feel weird at first but it's perfectly fine and doesn't use much electricity. Knowing your log is ready to go at a moment's notice is a great feeling.

If you simply can't do that, or for times you just got home and are in a rush, here's a recipe:

From cold, turn the E-Nano to 10 on the temp dial for 3 minutes.

After those 3 minutes, turn it down to 7 on the temp dial for 2 minutes.

After those 2 minutes it should be ready to hit. You should be able to get pretty consistent hits, I would guess roughly in the 375-385°F range. No risk of combustion at all, good flavor and thick vapor. I've never been able to draw down the heat significantly with this recipe, even with hits that are nearly back to back, with minimal time in between for my lungs to recover.

You may have to experiment a bit with the second temp, you may find you prefer 7.25 or 6.75 or something else. I think 7 is a good starting point. After your first session, if you are leaving your nano on, turn it down .5 on the temp dial. Most likely by the time you are ready for a second session the nano will be completely heat soaked.

Lately I've been keeping my nano at 6.6 whenever I'm home, that setting works good for me with most strains. I get potent, dense vapor with great flavor at this setting, and each hit is nearly identical. Absolutely no risk of combustion, and no loss of heat. My average session I'm using a load in about a minute, with 2-3 hits in that time.

I am referring to the the unit itself heat soaking. I actually take a draw right away, because I feel some vapor could escape since the heater is close to the material. I turned it down a bit, and now it seems to vape like I feel it should, and a ton more vapor for some odd reason vs blasting the heat for 2 draws. I actually got lengthy draws that were effective. Somehow my method was so bad that even tho charring the material, I felt nothing from those pulls. How could that be that I feel a Lot if I go slower when adjusting heat?

Speaking of the heat soak on the Nano, only.
I'm very rarely able to leave my home anymore, and so this is my always on, always ready vape.

@flotntoke knows way more than anyone on this thread!

I'm way too MEDICATED! (that's what we call it in CALIFORNIA). (sounds PC)!

The NANO has a very good HEATER.

The WOOD WORK is very accomplished.

For the $ I love the NANO!

AMAZING STRAIN'S HELP!

With the nano a slow steady draw will work best. If you try drawing too fast it will defeat the process. A heat soak will help will getting the visable clouds that a lot of folks like. As long as the bud isn't touching the heater core you should be fine allowing your nano to heat soak the stem while loaded for 30 seconds or so.

Temperature could be individual depending on how tender of a throat and set of lungs that you have. Temp is dependent for me on the cannabis that I'm using. Sometimes I need to turn things up or down a little. I'm usually somewhere between 6 and 6.5 dry. I like a medium fluffy grind in my unit.

I load my stem and my session usually lasts for 10 minutes. I get 10 draws or so, I don't count or anything. This is an easy unit to maintain and use. No small parts to lose or clean. Just keeping the stems clean and the screen clear of debris. A glass or a wooden air path is awesome.

Edit
Heat soak is when you load your cannabis and insert it in your nano. Then let it heat for say 30 seconds, then take the first draw. You should get some milky clouds with that.
