I'm with ya! I'd love to know whether the pods could be pre-filled for a day out and about.... where you just unscrew the mouthpiece, pull out the used pod from your pocket (having placed the pod in some sort of small hard sided container...altoid container or small pill bottle) and pop the unused one in.

How many hits per pod do you expect to get?

The battery life on the unit would last me over a full day so walking around with pre-filled pods, assuming they're sturdy enough to travel, would be great!

Sorry but I don't really have any scientific means of quantifying the amount that the pods hold. I can only say that it is a fraction of the amount that the oven holds (I know, a "fraction" can mean just about anything). It's a very small amount. I'm not sure that I would feel comfortable walking around with the pods outside of the unit. Maybe they'd be OK in a small hard-sided container, but the seal holding them together doesn't seem too strong. A slight twist and they could come apart it seems. They're also a little tricky to fill - doing so when out-and-about would be very difficult.

I've been able to get two sessions per pod, each session consisting of one largish draw followed by powering the unit off and then drawing to clear any remaining vapor. The ABV comes out even and medium-brown.

I like the pods and will probably keep using them because 1) they fit my usage needs as far as number of hits/sessions are concerned and 2) they keep the oven and mouthpiece nice and clean. Notice that I did not include "carrying around extra pods" in that list.

I've decided that the Focus Pro will be a nice replacement for my aging Pinnacle Pro. My technique includes using the pods and waiting a full 60 seconds after the vape reaches the set temp before drawing.

The fact that it closely resembles an e-cig vape lends to the stealth factor.

I haven't experienced any strong odor or taste from the vape itself.

The Focus will be a backup to my SS Grasshopper, which is simply a technological marvel in its ability to deliver thick vapor almost instantaneously.

I'm hoping I can come up with some small hard-sided container that will keep the pods from rattling around so I can carry them loaded. Hey, Ratchett!!! You taking requests?

This is EXACTLY my situation. I first got interested in the Focus when my Pinnacle Pro died. I knew that it would be a while before I got my Grasshoppers and when they arrived I would want a backup for them.

@Elac - Is that a vaporizing time machine? How many hits to get to 2050? Can you pick me up some of that virtual reality holographic OG Kush while you're there? While we're at it....what is that coming out of that white battery looking thing in the left top corner? Looks like vape or smoke.

Who needs a Delorean when you can vape your way to the future....

I'd like to have some OG Kush of the present.
That's just a reflection, does look like vape though. Or in electronics lingo 'magic smoke'. The white thing is the faux battery.

Taking the white ceramic puck out and using a small stainless steel screen that fits on top of the herb in the oven is how I preferred to deal with it. Cleaning is easy and the draw is more to my liking.

Yes removed ceramic and put one small screen where the screw used to be and another small screen under the glass stem (don't like them Scooby snacks ) will test later cheers for the reply I was just throwing the question out there but don't know how to start a new thread loool
@His_Highness @Chose could you please tell me where you picked up those small screens?

iFocus customer service update:

For some reason, my emails don't always get through to the cs rep I'm dealing with. I don't know if there's an issue with emails to Hong Kong, or the 12 hour time difference, or my ISP sucks, or what. But no matter how glitchy this process gets, she WILL NOT GIVE UP! She emails me every day to re-establish a connection and even offered to Skype!! (I don't Skype. I'm too busy yelling at kids to get off my lawn.) Fantastic!! Is it possible to be in love with a customer service rep from the other side of the globe you've never even seen? :)

More importantly, in one of her emails, she confirmed the following:

-The Focus Vape silica gel covering is fully injected on. There is NO adhesive involved.
-Not all units emit the smell.

This is good news indeed. Once we get past these email glitches, I look forward to getting a fresh-as-a-daisy smelling Focus Pro. And this company has definitely earned my loyalty. I'll be seriously looking at their new offerings as PIU lists them for sale.

As if my VAS wasn't bad enough; now I have these great companies I want to support. "But honey, I'm not buying all these vapes for myself. I'm just supporting these great businesses.":lol:

Meanwhile.....they haven't responded to either of my emails!

You're going to like this once you get a good one. Mine with their water tube is really nice, but great flavor, but decent. I feel like I need to run this much hotter than other vapes, ex. my Mighty I start at 350F and usually just step once to 385F to finish her off. With the Focus I tend to start around 390F and finish 430F. Gets me about equivalent visible vapor, the abv in the Focus is darker, but the effects are clearer with the Mighty. Not complaining, I like it at this price point, perfect for my needs.

Stupid question here, but are you using the email address on their website? ifocus@ifocustechnology.com.cn

Interesting about the temps. I have always run my vapes much cooler; around 330-340 on my mivape, level 2 or 3 on the Pinnacle. Otherwise they are too harsh. Of course, I only recently realized the value in using tubing or some other way to extend the vapor path. This allows me to run higher temps for sure, but the miVape tends to char at any setting higher than 330. Can't wait to get any of my planned first-string vapes (Focus, Grasshopper) up and running.

I always started my Pinnacle Pro loads on level 2. After several sessions I would bump it up to level 3 for one or two sessions before dumping and refilling.

Before I got my Focus Pro I looked up the Pinnacle Pro's temp settings so I could use the same settings on the Focus (level 2 = 395 F, level 3 = 420 F on the PNP). I found 395 F to be too low on the Focus. I now set it at 419 F (trying not to be cliche by setting it to 420 F :)). I'm pretty happy with it at that temp while using the pods.

EDIT:

I just visited the PIU website and checked out the Focus Dry Material Pods.

They look completely different from what I ordered.

http://www.puffitup.com/Focus-Dry-Material-Pod-p/fcv.114-dry_cart.htm

I might just order a couple of the new ones to see how they work.

Kind of nice to have VAS for something that costs less than $10 :)

I send email to them concern about the smell on some new units.
they responded in 3 days. they say not all units are affected and if it happens I'll be covered.
problem is, if I buy on amazon I have no idea where I need to send the unit, hopefully not to china :-(.

BTW, I was thinking to get standard mini bubbler (14mm I think it is?) for davinci/solo/air, and get the glass/metal adapter for focus and use that so that I have this bubbler for future use. I presume that focus water tool is made just for focus vape right?

is metal adapter ok. as I see on the pictures it's made for 2 sizes, 14 and 18mm?

thanks

Their glass is nice because it's a custom size and fits without an adapter. I also have their metal adapter and it works fine also for standard glass.

Is the heating chamber where it screws [picture from 1st post page 1] or is it further up near the mouth piece?

I would purchase the unit from PIU rather than Amazon. You will then be assured of nothing but top-notch customer service.

The Focus water tool is designed to fit on the Focus vape once you've removed the glass mouthpiece from the mouthpiece assembly. It's a nice-looking marriage but my understanding is that the Focus bubbler is a little finicky to fill and empty. Still looking forward to trying it, though.

The metal adapter is indeed designed so it will work with both sizes.

Is the heating chamber where it screws [picture from 1st post page 1] or is it further up near the mouth piece?

Based on the heat that comes off the unit, the heating chamber occupies the space between the adjustable airflow ring and the mouthpiece assembly - basically the top quarter or third of the unit.

Holy moley, I had no idea (as in: read it but promptly forgot it) that those temp levels were that high! Well, that changes everything I know about everything.

That pod you linked to is TOTALLY different than the ones I got. It looks much more substantial and travel-worthy. I'll be checking those out for sure.

EDITED TO ADD:

Looks like my new Focus Pro is shipping from iFocus today! Hopefully it will not be too long before I am able to put a fully functioning smell-free Pro through its paces.

I don't know what PIU is?

I'm located in Europe and locally there is only 1 shop I can buy focus vape but the price is like 130€ (without any accessories) + shipping which I will def not give them cos that's a pure rip-off.

Also not many sellers on amazon send items to my country so I'm pretty limited with options :-(.
I will either buy this nonpro focus on amazon for 80€+shipping or I will go and get Air/Solo or Davinci Acent. I'm still deciding so If anyone have advice...

If the reviews on focus I have seen are true I think I would be very happy with one as a portable (I own EVO for desktop) "IF" I get the one that doesn't smell/taste bad after burn-off.

cheers

I've had the same great customer service @moondog - Is it possible you supplied them the wrong email address or maybe your email is filtering the replies out as spam?

@Elac - The screens placed in the top of the Focus oven so I could stop using the white puck in the mouthpiece came from several previous vapes....Xmax and maybe my Solo. I didn't buy them separately.

Temps: When I first started using the Focus I tied the temps to the ones I preferred on my Solo. I have recently stepped up the temps when using the Focus. I don't know if the Focus requires more of a heat soak or if the oven temp is easier to outrun or if its the herb difference but I'm using 400F for the first session on a fill and then 420F for the second and third sessions. If I'm using the Focus bubbler I go right to 420F.

Bubbler: As far as I know the Focus bubbler will only work on the Focus. I found filling it with water to be easy and removing the water to be hard. Good news is the water won't come out and mess up your unit. Bad news is that if you put too much water in it's a bitch to remove. With this in mind I'd suggest filling it with water a little at a time till you find what water level suits you. I'm only a quarter inch above the blow holes.

@djurodjakovic - PIU (Puff-It-Up) is a US company that delivers to Canada as well. I'm not sure they ship to Europe. You might want to ping them in the retailer thread and see.

Can't go wrong with getting PIU's help. They'll never do you wrong. But iFocus seems to be taking feedback very seriously and I think hearing from more of us will only help them improve, which they seem committed to doing.

In terms of reaching iFocus. There have definitely been glitches in terms of them getting my emails. I seemed to have the best luck when I sent an email using the email address on the contact page and then sending the same message using the inquiry form on that same page. A little more work, yes, but worth it for the peace of mind.

I never order outside EU cos the custom's charger and shiping fee are high especially for my country.
anyone bought something from red-eye shop in uk?
they offer focus vape (non-pro) for the lowest price (with shipping worldwide included) I found, and want to be sure cos the site looks a bit strange. they don't except paypall. only credit cards.

Agreed. I ordered 2 from PIU today and they've already been shipped. I'll try to give my impression of them if I have time to try them out.

Always impressed with the service from PIU...

Thanks I am happy you liked my review. But mine does go in sleep mode after 3 minutes of use........then you need to press and hold the button for 2 seconds to wake it back up. But I will have to try it tonight and actually time it.
BTW did you hit the subscribe and give me a thumbs up? More videos to be posted shortly on the new BLACK WIDOW vaporizer and the Atman Starlight.

Did you ever do your Black Widow review?

I am here to sing the praises of iFocus Technologies. If you've been following along, you know they offered to send me a new Focus Pro as a thank you for sticking with them through two smelly unusable units. That unit shipped from Hong Kong last Friday and it arrived today!!

I opened the package to find that not only had they shipped me a new boxed unit, they also included some other goodies!!

They sent:
-Two of the new style dry herb pods (as seen on PIU). These are an enormous improvement over the originals and they come in a nice capped plastic sleeve that will keep them from rattling around while out and about. Brilliant!!
-Two wax cartridges, also in a capped sleeve. Each of these has an extra ceramic mouthpiece filter in it.
-A stainless steel water tool adapter.
-A Focus bubbler tool.

I am awestruck by the generosity here, but there's even better news! The foam padding in the box for the Focus itself has been replaced by a hard plastic holder that hugs the unit just like the previous black foam. BUT IT DOESN'T SMELL!!!!! The unit has a tiny bit of "new thing" smell but I'm confident that will be gone with a burn off or two (just waiting for the battery to finish charging.)

I have now changed my theory on the source of the smell. I agree with those who posited it came from the foam. Strong evidence for that comes from the fact the the bubbler was packed with the same black foam as my two previous units and that foam does indeed STINK just like the previous units. Perhaps still curing silica gel on the vape irrevocably absorbed the outgassing of the foam? Who knows...

All I know is, iFocus now has a seriously loyal customer. Their responsiveness, generosity, and willingness to address and solve a problem when brought to their attention is superb. Rest assured their new "Adventurer" convection vape is going to get some serious attention from me when it drops.

Now, finally, I will get to actually try this Focus Pro vape. I'll post a review when I've gathered my thoughts.

THANK YOU iFOCUS!!!
