Who's still using there Zions? Ive managed to track one down and love the look and feel of it!

Any tips and tricks to get the most out of it?

Seems like a decent preheat then slow draws with such open airflow

Any danger of riding the power to long?

Still my favorite vape, but I use it only at home with the power adapter that I built. So it's a tethered desktop Zion somehow.

Partially blocking the air intake can help if regulating your draw speed doesn't work well.

I'll never thank Ryan enough for these marvels. I miss these early days...

And I just got one of these^ in Lake Green thanks to @seki who got regular green and the more clear blue above. Probably the nicest cooling stem I've ever seen honestly, thanks again to @Vlad the Inhaler aka 508phineas on Instagram (hit him up over there to place orders!) The colored stems are 19/22, the clear ones are 19/19, and both ~100mm long to store in the Zion!

Hmm I really would like a dimples blue stem to match my blue glass joint Zion

hey yall. so the only milaana with a zion heater in it (modded by unklmark) is currently on its way to me. i was hoping to get some insight to how the heater is setup. any tips for making it rip?

I would stick to the Milaana thread still, Z heaters just a bit larger and more complex, but it works the same, it is set up the same as a Milaana, so that would be the place to look for unregulated pure convection on demand tips... My main recommendation would be to try to use it and nothing else for a while when you get it, I don't know what you are experience is with other vapes...

don't preheat when the battery is fresh, and learn when to stop holding the button.. for avoiding combusting.. I think as a TP80 user you will catch it quickly less than few sessions

Funny thing. As part of the Zion Beta team, at the end of the process I finally got my final Zion with the special cap. I never really used it and kept it as a historical marker. The other day, as I was watching some discussion, I decided I would give it a try and see how well it performed. It turns out that it doesn't heat very well. I'm not certain what the problem it has is but it isn't very usable. I had been contemplating putting it up for sale but I can't imagine how I would price it as a non working Zion, even a special one.

I have one of those, interestingly it was sent back along with one I sent in, that I had bought from someone else that had received it no longer wanting it from the final production batch by the time it came who reached out directly to me... Anyway it has green glass like my original beta did before I dropped it, and it was such a perfect build, but I always felt like it wasn't working properly? Just cool runnings, so much slower to heat, even maxxed out, compared to both of my previous beta units (which themselves were each tuned, after being repaired the original extra hot, and what was supposed to be the finalized production model at the time tuned a little cool for comparison sake) and seemed even the airflow could have been part of the problem? I was able to plug the bottom air intake, using it even more like a carb, especially to build it heat in the beginning for preheat at start of a hit, then opening up for a slow draw letting go to speed up and clear... So I sent it back to RBT, he said it was completely fine, but agreed it just took longer and a slower draw (which I don't think he ever confirmed was due to possible air leaks somewhere else within the unit build and or just the way it was tuned though I assumed) however he sent it back along with the spalted cap blue glass unit that seems to be tuned to perfection with a full range on the dial and appropriate speed/heat accordingly!

So all this to say, have you tried adjusting your techniques, to get more out of it? Possible it might not be broken at all really...

The battery compartment is also extremely tight. Given that I have a number of vapes that I really like, I think it's probably just going to go back on the shelf. Maybe sometime in the future I'll be more interested in playing with it to get it up and running.

When i got my OG zion, i had to turn the dial all the way up and play with hold times before drawing before I could get it to work, might be worth a shot

Yeah you guys are spoiled by newfangled on-demand stuff hehe! You forgot the Zion is a heavy steam locomotive! You got to count at least slowly to 5 while preheating before starting your draw, and then you keep the trigger on. You can let go while continuing to draw to ride the wave though.

Carbing the air intake hole is also a must for me when the stem screen is too clean. I like to let it clog somewhat to create some extra restriction.

Uhhh isnt the zion "newfangled" on demand. Pretty sure on demand heating isn't that new to the scene

Sure, back then it was considered "on-demand", but then Milaana with its smaller heater was even more on-demand, then the Splinters (esp. in TCR) even more-so... then the Imp/Impzilla with their even tinier coils were even more instantaneous... I think this is where some of us forgot that the Zion is super massive and has a lot of inertia (which is a good thing since it allows to have a very stable temperature output and it's super forgiving, without having any other regulation than the output voltage)

I think I have forgotten that. And I will try again sometime soon. Zion beta event was a long time ago, and I'm sure I have forgotten much.

Gotta have the desire, too. In my stable of vapes, it is mostly a historical artifact. Even when it first (finally) arrived I had already moved on to other vapes, including the Milaana. I did continue to use the beta for some time, though.

Thanks to the Mod who had to drag my posts over here from the Splinter thread. My bad...
