The train has taken an unexpected detour..back to basic training. Who would have thought?

That said, I still prefer to wait for a fully realised product in my hands rather than get a product sooner that requires further tweaking. Whilst the timeline has extended quite a bit, it is still, i feel, the same roadmap that was laid out, that is small batches with pauses in between to make changes based on early user feedback.

Unfortunately the feedback included broken units. Holding up further production is therefore good business practice and again, i think, something that was anticipated and built in to the route.

So BabyNo13 is still doing dandy - a bit battered, but happy. Missing a magnet from the battery door - needs to be glued back in. Set screw came out of dial, but was found! Didn't bother putting it back in as it's only there for decoration, I discovered when the dial fell off, somewhere between our house and the neighbours house, a 10 minute walk away, overnight. But we found it! Sent pix into RBT who said if the internal piece for temp control is still working we're all good. So we're all good. It sucks hearing about the ones having issues. There really isn't much to go wrong, so once RBT figures out how to make them right they will be better then right, I'm sure. Pesky lifetime warranty aside - we've not even had a glass issue. And I'm constantly reminded of the positives - near-instant on, huge airway, and incredibly smooth vape. I tend to use it heavily, and when I have a finger crooked around the glass I'm reminded of just how freaking hot the glass gets down low, but how cool it is coming out of even the shorty stem. I *do* need to get a woody tho, as smashing around in the bush and glass tend to be mutually exclusive...

I've ordered a double male made to fit the EQ. Then I realized I had a variety of EQ bits and bobs, so started swapping some stems around and it looks like EQ glass is the right size for Zion, so I've been using an 18 to 14 adapter, with a 45d angle, as a mouthpiece, so it kinda feels like using a juicebox. You hear that Milly? You are gonna be a Maple juicebox! I've been using this combo on the MV with great success, and expect nothing less, other than a slightly restricted airflow. But only slightly. I'm *really* looking forward to the 18 F-Bomb Hydratube tho! Watch for pix...

This is to keep me going until we go to the retired chef's house for lapine! Or as the french say - bunny! I can't recall having tried one before, but I fully expect it to be stuffed with caramel and nuts, with a chocolate glaze and hazelnut truffle reduction. Giterinya!

The herb was legal. The shatter was from a dispensary, which isn't technically legal in British Columbia, but somehow seems to coexist quite nicely. This gives my 73 year old neighbor, recovering from a fractured femur, a place to purchase his technically illegal high CBD pills. Two a day and he's a happier bunny.

Not sure how it works technically, and I'm not much of a wordsmith but Lucky continues to consistently get me fucked up. That's about my biggest requirement in a vaporizer.
Once the mica is preheated this unit becomes intimidating to 'hit like you mean it'.
Back to back bowls sends this thing into overdrive.

Do any of the beta testers notice their production units produce more vapor than their beta's without the mica, on back to back bowls?

I still can't say enough about the battery life.
It's so nice to walk out the door without extra batteries or a charger on me, and to just not have to think about it!

I'm really looking forward to the discussion of this thread turning to all the different ways of using this vape.
IMO this forum has helped every other vaporizer evolve into its full potential.
Not sure if that will happen with this device, being built around the KISS philosophy.
We will soon see, and this thread will be back to its happy place.

Early betas and alphas had a glass insulator in place of the mica and sported a similar heatsink effect over extended use. It's hard for me to compare the two as many parameters changed in between. Ashton for instance is regulated down to around 6V, where the production units are around 5V. Their heaters are different in size, configuration and as you noted, insulator... Also ultimately Fairchild has been tuned hotter than Ashton, I need to tame it down more and it's a wilder beast overall.

Given the way I use them, I still don't get as many bowls per charge as the other testers reported though. For me it's more like 4x 20 minutes sessions per charge, similar to my other vapes with equivalent battery capacity. But I expressed it already: I don't think the way I use it (i.e. many spaced apart smaller hits) is really efficient as I waste more energy in preheat time than I would if I were to take less but larger hits.

That being said, swapping batteries with that magnetic door is both fast and fun. I enjoy the process like I imagine a gun-lover enjoys reloading his weapon... Click, click, clack!

I refrained from posting too much lately as I know some people accuse us of being borderline fanboys, and it's nice up to a point, past which we are not easing their wait anymore... to the contrary! But I love my Zions, I use them daily. If I'm given the possibility they are the only devices I reach for and use, period.

I sent an email on the 25th to see if the new knobs had been received and/or installed and tested and haven't received a reply. Of course, I'm sure he's busy and whatnot. Mad genius and blah blah blah. The last time he emailed me was on the 16th. I'm not holding my breath for anything and not complaining. Just updating on my interaction. I'm ready to forget about the Zion until it arrives at my door. I have plenty of vapes to play with. Zion Routes!
ONE of 420 ways to get to: '1&Done'*​

To ride this journey, you will need:

• 1 × matrix perc side-arm bubbler
• 1 × 18.8mm m2m GonG adapter
• 1 × Zion (sorry!)
• 1 very small pinch of something nice . . .

Method:

• Align the screen basket style, flush with the end of the adapter for minimal load size
• Set the Zion to MAX power!
• Load your material; connect the adapter to the Zion; connect it all to the bubbler
• Preheat the Zion for 5 seconds at the very maximum!

Now, the rest depends on your bubbler's function, but I recommend

• Start with a medium, steady draw
• Watch as the vapor appears & turns to thick cream within 5-10 seconds
• At this point, you may need to react quickly & draw slightly harder to prevent overheating & combustion (remember, we are at FULL power!), & then modulate your draw for the remaining time to maintain the milky hit & avoid scorching
• Release the trigger a few seconds before the end of the hit, as the vapor thins.
• Lift the Zion off & away from the bubbler & experience the results.

Tadaaa!

You & your load will be toasted!

I would say you have about 80% confidence of adding it onto the order? We don't know if the Milanna's would be finished by the time your Zion is ready. So, IMO a fair question.

Also...the orders for Milaana end at the end of the day TODAY, so the purchase would have to take place, then have that purchase be added to the existing order, whenever RBT gets around to it.
Doesn't seem likely to me, idk how he works though...but it must be bought today. I highly doubt he'll let you add it in a month+ when your Zion ships, when it's not even able to be purchased.

It is also likely one will ship before the other, so it's worth just paying the shipping twice now, and maybe you'll be refunded the difference or have the benefit of getting one if them sooner than the other. Just factor it in to the total price, in any case it will be well below what retail will be, and should still be worthwhile

By the way, I whipped out Ziggy from his packed away box, first time in weeks as Milaana was able to shoulder the burden (along with some Daisy though), but Zion is just something special. The regulation and everything else really does come together for some great vapor, more controlled and slightly different experience with this design (the heater is slightly taller I think, and ofcourse the air intake is below). Now that I have D2 I can also confirm that swapping the batteries' position every other bowl really does keep them fully balanced at the same level. Overall in comparison Zion really is the flagship, and Milaana entry level, with various pros and cons for each that can compliment each other.
