The new bags are made out of a different formula and are very quiet as well as have some give to them. (AKA they do not blow apart at the seam)

If some of those out there who actually have gotten the new bags would share their experience, that would be great.

The new bags are not 100% quiet but around 80% quieter. There is definitely not as much "crinkling" to the bags. I also think they "fill up more" and I think that they "stretch more" and must have something to do with you (Bruce) saying, "The new bags are made out of a different formula and are very quiet as well as have some give to them. (AKA they do not blow apart at the seam)" I would recommend to anyone the new bags over the old ones. Just my :2c:

REVIEW: New Zephyr Ion Nylon Bags

These bags are sooo much quieter than the old bags! The old bags were like crinkly cellophane, they would rattle and crinkle with every breath you take, or every second of filling up. The new bags are as quiet as the pump, you barely hear them making any noise until you hear the stretch of the material as it reaches capacity.

The new bags also have a little more 'give' to them than the old bags I think. It feels less likely to pop, but I imagine it could still happen. The material seems like a light-weight version of those beach balls you blow up - its like even when the bag is full, it could probably take a little bit more.

These bags are also customizable to size! They come in a long roll, so you just roll out however much you want, and then cut it off. Then just seal the top end, and the bottom end to a mouthpiece, and you have a new bag. With being able to cut custom size bags, you can now control how long you want to wait before your bag is full by adjusting its size, or adjust your bag based on your usage habits to waste less or wait less.

They are also heat seal-able. I used a 16" U-Line pulse heat sealer

I found setting 8 to work well at first, but after sealing repeated seams, I turned it down to 4 as it was melting through the material.

I cut off a section maybe 18 inches long, made a seal across one side, and then on the other side made two small seams from the sides of the bag to almost the middle. This made it easier to insert the nozzle of the mouthpiece into the bag and seal it without having to gather so much material.

I'll be taking orders for custom sized Nylon bags, just take a number. :brow:

The seams were great, the seal with the mouthpiece was great, and the new material.... so quiet! I'm really surprised no-one else making bag vaporizers has implemented this, at least not that I'm aware of (correct me if I'm wrong).

There are a few downsides I could see though.

1) if you don't have a means to heat seal them, you'll have to use a zip tie at the top end of the bag, which just changes the shape of your bag and maybe the aesthetics, but not the function.
2) if you enjoyed your old bags standing up straight before filling, these new bags droop over the side and start filling up to the side of your vaporizer until they fully expand and sit above the vaporizer. This could be a problem if a) you have a large bag, and/or b) you have a confined space for the vaporizer.
3) you have less audible warning of when the bag is full. I think with the old bags you could hear the sound change as it got closer to filling. With these new bags its like they sneak up on you - one second they're all quiet, and then you hear a stretching sound. This isn't really so much a problem, just a caveat to be aware of.

The whip is being delayed (as I understand it) because the demand for the Zephyr is large and was, I think, unexpected. They are meeting demand or ramping up (or whatever), which is a smart decision.

Thats it. Nothing to see here. And while it may be disappointing, it is understandable from a business decision standpoint.

I was in a head shop today, on a curious quest to see if there were any vaporizers. There were not, so I asked the guy there if he had any ever come through. He said he'd gotten requests for them here or there but wasn't sure because they were 'controversial'. I started talking to them about them, and how a lot of them have moved to ROHS compliance and use all glass airways or teflon and ceramic materials. Two other people in the store started listening in, interested I think in my fountain of information. The guy working there seemed impressed, and said I seem to know a lot. He asked me if there were any I recommended for him to look into. I'll let you all guess the first name I dropped. :D

For what it's worth, I'd love it if some of my local stores started carrying the Zephyr (they currently carry Extreme, V-Tower, Iolite, VaporGenie, Herbalaire, Volcano digit/classic and a few others).

I've nudged them.

Similar story. About a year ago I was in a head shop and was browsing their stuff and I mentioned their vaporizers were low grade vapes. All knock offs. He offered me a job after I explained vaporizers and answered a myriad of questions and showed him this and a few other sites on information about vapes.

It never ceases to amaze me how much misinformation/older information about vapes is out their.

It also never ceases to amaze me how the "Experts" are less knowledgeable than I am. Walking into a head shop and knowing more about vaporizers is just one example, but I've done internet research before going to a medical doctor, and surprised even them on what I knew about options available and side effects associated with their recommended prescription.

Love the new bags. Slick comes to mind.

I also want to thank for fast turn around on replacing the vaporizer. It is wonderful to have a new
Zephyr. It is a night and day difference than before. The return will be sent out tomorrow.

I would like to order a special bag from you. Can you make one that will hold 3 mouth pieces? 1 to attach to the machine and two to hit out of while it is filling. I think if there were a section of bag about 24 inches long, seal the center making two air channels about half way down. Should look like a Y when finished. Affix a mouthpiece at each end for the no wait experience. ..... hmmmmm

hmmm I should try to make one of those.

edit: no seriously filling a bag hits different than a whip. I knew someone was going to call me out on that!!

I was in my local head shop, and 5 days after asking, they carry the Zephyr Ion along with spare parts and an inflated bag as part of a display. Nice.

So I've been planning on and wanting to do this review for a while now, but the only problem is I've been too vapped to actually get it done . Finally though I have some free time to write this out.

Quality.
Honestly this is the best vaporizer on the market for this amount of money. With the Zephyr you literally get the most bang for your buck. For 320$ (used an online coupon and vapenow.com) I couldn't have asked for more, especially when one considers the two year manufacture warranty and Zephyr's reputation as a company with great customer service.
10/10

Ease of Use.
As a first time vaporizer owner the Zephyr Ion was extremely simple to have up and running right out of the box. There was nothing to assemble or hook up or figure out. It was simply remove from box, plug into the wall, set temperature, fill bag, and then have a blast!
8/10

Durability
There are many reports of people dropping their Ions and having no damage done to the unit. Though it is semi worrisome that the product is made in China. That said though anyone who has done ample research into Zephyr will know that this company is serious about quality and service, and that shows through their product. And with a 2 year manufacture warranty you can't really go wrong. I mean hell you don't even get that standard on a computer.
7/10

Economical and Healthy
I invested in a Zephyr Ion for two main reasons. I had began smoking more often and I knew I'd save money on biomass, I also knew I'd save my lungs (I have asthma). The Zephyr has definitely more than paid for itself in the 2 months I've had it. I think I got some 20 people vapped with 2 grams of biomass at a party recently. Also I've seen no change in my physical performance since I started vapping daily.
10/10

Improvements
Bruce you guys have a great product here but these are some things I'd improve. First the user manual needs to be much more thorough. You should include a list of everything that come with the unit and explain each piece's role in the maintenance of the vaporizer. The first time I was looking at the orings and airfilter I had no idea where they were supposed to go or if i had to put them in personally before I used it. I eventually figured it out after some time but it did delay my friends and I from enjoying my new toy. Also I would EXTREMELY URGE you to put videos up on youtube and host them to your site about general maintenance, switching out bags, any particular methods of use and any reclaiming that can be done with the bags or other parts of the vap. Also the delay of the whip has me sad. As I vap alone more with my roommates being gone for the summer I find my self more and more wanting that whip instead of goofing around with a bag for just one person. But with that on the horizon people should see the whip as a benefit and additional feature.

Overall
I honestly can't have been happier with my purchase. Around the same time I also bought another cheap 25$ glass piece for biomass. But after I got my vap I barely use anything else. Four of my friends are seriously considering purchasing one either now or in the near future and I know for a fact that one already bought hers, though she wound up with some trouble in her model.
9/10

On a side note Bruce I also had a bag pop a while back and I began noticing a drop in performance. So after reading about it on here I recently timed a bag's fill up and it took 2mins rather than the less than 30 seconds it started out as. I'll send you a msg with my email.

This confirms my theory that when the bag is on and near filled, the pump creates a lot of internal pressure. Two things can happen - the bag can burst under the pressure, or one of the plastic elbows connecting the pump to the heater unit will pop off.

A burst bag is easier to fix, trust me.

I heard Bruce said the new vaporizers wont have this problem, but I think if you update your user manual or create a video (I'm in the process of creating one right now), you tell people not to fill a bag to 100%.

Problem #2: I notice the new bags are SO quiet, that unless I keep my eye on it the whole time, the 100% mark sneaks up on me because there is no sound from the bag until it is about 97% full.

Changing bags, the silicone o ring, pump back-pressure, and much more all will be acknowledged in the video users guide we are working on.

*Edit* This guide, when finished, will be available on the website and various other social media sites. I will try and put up sections as they are finished.

Awesome cause I'd love to see how you guys put the bags on lol. I do an okay job at it but there has to be a better way of getting that done. Also dont forget about screen changing etc as well!

Can't wait to see some of the stuff you guys are working on.

Since I created a facebook account for getting the images for the contest, now I want to see a Zephyr Facebook page that I can be a fan of. I think it'd be good marketing.

The other place I'd like to see the Zephyr Ion advertised is here:
http://www.canorml.org/healthfacts/vaporizers.html

THe page comes up early in lots of search engines when you put in the word "vaporizer"
