Hey guys so I'm a zephyr ion owner and have been for the past 5 months or so now. I can't tell you i love it because I'm always looking for another vape but it does it's job well.
I'd like to say several things about this vape and the company Zephyr. I am thoroughly disgusted by Zephyr company. I have called numerous upon numerous of times to be put through to a voice mail where I leave a message for no one to return it. Same goes for the emails I have sent. Still haven't received that free whip...
So with awful customer service off to the side let me continue onward with the vape itself starting from the base up.
Digital read out with buttons and everything is best on the market, maintains temperature flawlessly and have nice buttons that don't jam and won't die after a year or 4 of wear and tear, unlike some flimsy button companies...
Now for the bowl...oh the bowl how I HATE it with a passion. First off I don't own a soldering iron so uhmm I can't replace the bottom screen on the herb basket oh and how about my oils or concentrates? no pad, not anything. So when my screens it darkened by overall use and smudges on it that can't be cleaned, I just am stuck with a dirty screen? sick thanks.
Don't get me started on the seal, so after two weeks I figured away to get it to have absolutely no leakage but I don't think that the rubber seal was meant to go in that way, so instead of sealing the rubber ring to the outer screen on the lid, I flip it upside down and put it on top of the bowl, creates a great seal and stops the ring from popping off when you need to open the lid during high heat sesh's like around 380 because that rubber ring if applied to the straw, will pop off EVERY TIME, but not anymore with my new style, even though it gets worn at twice the rate.
Now for the lid and straw. I see it in two different ways either the bowl is stationary (like the zephyr) or it isn't (like the volcano). So the Zephyr's teflon stray that leads the vapor into the bag or whip sucks to say the least. With the volcano bowl you can easily have all of the components in your hand and easily clean them off so each hit is as crisp and new as the next. The zephyr because your finger doesn't fit in the tube and I don't own a million alcohol cotton swabs and don't want to have to go buy specialized equipment for my vape, cleaning out the tube sucks. It builds resin and after just two weeks of usage it needs cleaning again. OH annnnnnnd the teflon tube EASILY bends so if you get a little utensil in there to scrap off the resin, you might bend the straw or create a lump.
The bags, they suck too. After awhile the plastic just gets cheap and the spring on the inside or whatever for the mouth opening just gets worn and stops closing all the way.
I have my negative comments about my volcano too so I'm not being biased or anything.
BUT I have managed to find the best of both worlds, use the zephyr heating element and temp. control with the volcano solid or easy valve, because those things (well solid without the blue large ring on the bottom) fit directly on top of the zephyr's ceramic circular heating element.
So with my volcano bowls and zephyr vape it is honestly the best of both worlds, and when I put the whip to the easy valve to the toro, it's all an end game from there.
I will say that the way in which the zephyr heats the herb from ranges going from 320 with a .5g bowl to 374 for a two person hit the zephyr's heating element really hits all the ranges really well and I will say milks volcano bags WAY better than the volcano does hands down.
But I would still really like a whip
Also currently stitching a pouch for my percolated ash catcher to sit in while strapped snugly around the neck of the zephyr with a whip attached through it. Stationary water filtration, just like the aromed, without photon technology...
