Yes that it's like the iolite in that respect. Good to know, not really an issue. This unit should hold me till I get the gh. One last q, do you give the glass mouthpiece an iso rub as well prior to using I did order that. The item is very stealthy for my needs I vape at the Bus stop and again in the Bus at times usually when dark only. But u do see others vaping in busses. Not sure what tho.

@Shit Snacks - Thanks for the clarification on the constant cooking/escape....I think I missed it because the 'escape' isn't visible or smell-able for me once I get past the first two draws on a fresh fill. I actually like the tiny wisp of visible vapor that escapes initially - it's my signal to pucker up :D

I could definitely see the escape bothering some folks though.

@adamster - IMO - A quick ISO rinse on the glass wouldn't hurt but if its brand new a simple warm water rinse should do.

No idea about concetrates unfortunately.
But yes iso can clean it all, mouthpiece can be taken apart and soaked completely, chamber can be damp qtip swabbed

omg this just went on by itself. It was in my pocket m must have hit the button some how. I was in room with some customers. At first I was thinking oh him that guy he has cannabis on him. But then I felt some heat in my pocket. So fortunately I took the wrong bag with me today and only had not even half the chamber. Take your care if like me you like to pamper the pen at work as your break. I think I can smell it but fortunately it's not the known cannabis joint smell but more like roast chicken or some say popcorn. They actually state in work manual you can be terminated if use cannabis. The call it a hallucenegen and the owner often pontificates with people his reefer madness bs.

Hey guys,

I have regularly cleaned the inside of my V2 Pro with the provided brush but the inside has a dark brown-black build up inside the chamber. I am wondering what the best way to clean the inside of the unit is? Is it ok to soak a q tip in isopropyl alcohol to scrub the gunk loose? Also is it advised to replace the screen at the bottom and if it is how do you get it out? I read a few comments on here about cleaning but I just wanted to double check and make sure. I misplaced my instruction manual and I do not want to damage the unit.

Thanks Guys

I still don't have this down. I never see how to select a temp. I click three times, see the battery level then I click once after two seconds, and it cooks. I am getting vapor and there is the expected effect. What am I missing.

If you have the latest version, holding down the button is what cycles the temps

Yes I seem to have the temps not all sessions but slowly by slowly I am getting a handle on it. My main issue is self induced paranoia with the smell so need to get a good case for it. And also can't use on all bus rides because th aroma is clear as opposed to mflbbor firefly.maybe tho towards end if session its OK but as i take busses alot I don't want to chance public knowing.

Yeah imo all session vapes reek. Indica was pretty good, but nothing like an on demand unit ofcourse, why Grasshopper seems ide stealth

Initially my MFLB and Solo didn't reek and that was with daily use. It took a good couple months before either of them started to smell noticeably when not being used or even when being used for that matter. The X-max on the other hand - 2 sessions and I could smell it when in use or not. It's not a overwhelming smell but in close quarters it would be a problem.

I bought an XMAX V2 Pro, with a mini-bubbler attachment and a GonG attachment that will probably never see glass, but will work as a glass mouthpiece. I paid $75 total from the trunk of a dude's car, straight out of a package that had come directly from Topgreen that day. The boxes were sealed and the unit was wrapped inside. The unit came with a Samsung icr18650-22f battery, which is a 2200mah battery with pretty limited max Amperage. I figure if they were going to try to use fake batteries, they'd pretend it was a higher end battery. So having a name-brand but workingman's battery seems encouraging for a unit as cheap as this.

Today was a day of many firsts:

-The first time I have ever legally purchased marijuana (at least under the laws of my state).

-The first time I have purchased marijuana--legally or illegally--in 18 years.

-The first time I have purchased paraphernalia.

-The first time I have ever vaporized bud.

-First time smoking a high-CBD strain (Critical Mass; ~1:1 THC/CBD ratio).

-First time having any idea what kind of strain I was smoking.

I bring this up because I'm obviously not a person to trust in terms of vapor effect or quality. Also I should note that even back when I did smoke, my tolerance was insanely low. Like, one hit would send me to the couch for three hours, barely able to talk to anyone. Also, weed typically made me neurotic, sometimes paranoid, and would exacerbate my tendinitis and back pain. So I was very curious to see what a high CBD strain would do for me.

Out of the Box
My first impressions of the vaporizer are a little contradictory. It looks and feels cheap. There's nothing premium about this thing. At the same time, it also seems sturdy and built right. The button feels cheap but it's completely responsive and doesn't seem like it's going anywhere. Everything is in it's place; the surface is smooth and unmarred. The threading works well and the rubber gasket makes a tight seal without being difficult to attach. It's nice to be able to break the unit down, and of course nice to be able to swap the batteries!

As someone else noted, it seems smaller in real life than it looks in pictures. I walked around with it in my hand, and at night at least, I felt completely unselfconscious. The GonG attachment looks completely serviceable but doesn't have that lustre I associate with nicer ground glass. The mini bubbler looks like junk to be honest, but it was $10 and was worth a flyer.

The first thing I did was run through two burn off sessions at max temp. After the first session there was a distinct rubber smell coming from the mouthpiece, which I should have soaked in iso, but I ran out. After the second, the rubber smell was muted but still present. There were no acrid or off smells that I associate with hot electronics. Blowing into the unit, it definitely seems like the electronics are isolated from the vapor path, but my limited testing is not dispositive. Two dry sessions back-to-back made the unit warm, but certainly not painfully hot. I realized I couldn't care too much about the health effects of off-gasses if I kept smelling the damn thing, so I stopped at two burnoffs.

First hits:
(also an uncontrolled review of Critical Mass, purchased from Treehouse Collective, in Portland, OR)

Even though I have almost no tolerance and will therefore be experimenting with light packs and some inert media to fill the bowl, for this first time I did a medium grind and packed the bowl full but not tight, just like the instructions say. I set it to medium, took a hit when ready, turned the unit off, and sucked on it a bit as it cooled down. I'd like to see how it works as a non-session vape that I can turn on and off through the day.

I used the bubbler. I don’t think I would bother using the bubbler at medium again, though I guess I don’t know how hot the air would have been if the bubbler had not been in place. As it was, the air was cold. I filled my lungs, held for a few seconds, then released. The cloud was there, but it was faint. Having never vaped before, I was expecting a stronger taste, but I tasted pretty much nothing going in, and only a light flavor going out. Nevertheless, it was tasty and fresh. Given my sensitivity, I thought the hit would knock me over immediately. Possibly this sense was aided by the percolations of the bubbler reminding me of bong rips from my distant past. Anyway, the opposite occurred: I barely felt anything. I gave it 10 seconds, then went back for a second hit. Again the intake was cool, and the release visible but wispy. I felt a bit more, and decided that was enough for an inaugural session. I turned it off, and took one last slow parting hit just to catch any residual vapors. I didn’t notice much of anything.

So then I put it away and started charging it. Over the past 10-15 minutes, the high is beginning to come on strong. So far, it’s great! I do seem to itch more. My sensation of pain is not bad. I find that it’s dampened somewhat, but in my mental state I’m less able to ignore it as I usually do. So it’s kind of a wash, but that is much preferable to other highs I’ve had where I find it difficult to focus on anything other than the pain.

I’m finding music pleasurable but not transcendent (Bags’ Groove; Miles Davis). Despite the pain, I’m finding the heightened sensation in my body pleasant, for example the explosion of flavor in a chunk of grape seed dislodged from my teeth. Speaking of food, I’m not feeling any munchies. I can write at least passably. Despite the lack of transcendence, I am not feeling anxious or paranoid at all, and that is a big win in my book. Thanks, CBD!

Is it typical of vaping as compared to smoking, that the high comes on a little later? I’m definitely not disappointed with its effects; just surprised that they came on so gradually. Perhaps this could be an effect of the CBD, which is supposed to blunt the impact of the THC?

First Day Reaction

I am very pleased with this purchase. It appears to be well-made, the bubbler performed nicely, and it was a great delivery mechanism. Obviously I need to experiment more, but I certainly started on the right foot. I am very excited to be back at it!

Nice dude, welcome to the community!
Happy to have helped in any way

Yeah definitely keep expirmenting, so many variables for you, definitely try some different strains so you can find your favorite effects. Higher thc content should hit you quicker vs cbd, but different effects as well. There's also how much you load and grind, temps used etc. Taste should improve the more you use it, especially once you can clean it with some iso. And again strains, and bubbler definitely difuses flavors so there's that as well.

Seems like you made a well-informed choice and have a lot of fun ahead of you, enjoy!

Been about a month now since the purchase and detailed initial review. I have used the unit about 10 times. Time to add a bit to the review link below:
http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/xmax-v2-vaporizer.15773/page-13#post-852948

Still prefer the Solo as the daily driver BUT I keep the X-Max loaded and ready with a fresh battery at all times and still find myself grabbing it when the Solo is beat. Recently headed out of town for an overnight trip and rather than pack up the Solo..... just grabbed the newly filled and newly recharged X-Max and took the MFLB for a backup. I find that a new fill, lightly packed, lasts the wife and I an entire day. We are still getting somewhere between 20 and 25 hits per fill and only require 4 hits a piece per session at the mid-range temp. I keep one extra fully charged battery waiting in the wings and if I'm careful don't need the second battery per fill. Averaging about 6 full sessions for a fully charged Samsung 18650 25R when I keep the unit working till auto-shutoff.

The button is still a bit frustrating for me but hasn't gotten any worse. Starting it up is dependable. Selecting the temp after start up is still hit or miss if I move too quickly. It's all good if I count 5 seconds after starting before holding down the button for temperature. With the Solo as soon as it's on I can select the temperature so I have to remind myself to wait with the X-Max. Shutting the unit down sometimes requires a second try but it is rare. I'm still reserving judgment on whether the button will remain functional in the long run simply because it feels weak but again...it hasn't gotten weaker. My guess is that the issue I'm having with the button after start-up is firmware related and not a physical/tactile button issue.

I have had to clean the mouthpiece screen THOROUGHLY 2 times within the 10 sessions. I initially tried to do 2 high temp burn offs to see if it would clean the mouthpiece screen but it didn't work. The issue is that the herb gets sucked onto the mouthpiece screen on draw and after several fills simply brushing it off isn't enough for me. I took the metal mouthpiece piece out, brushed it, took a lighter to the side facing the oven, burnt off the residual and then wiped it off and put it back. The normal oven burn off does seem to be keeping the bottom oven screen clean and I haven't had to remove that one. I've taken one of the extra screens and placed on top of the newly filled oven to see if that will keep the mouthpiece screen clean to see if that will make it easier.

Would I buy the X-Max Pro V2 again? ......as long as the button doesn't betray me I would consider this an awesome buy.

Any other suggestions for keeping the mouthpiece clean? I have some hemp fiber that @stickstones gave me as a freebie and am wondering if putting that on the top of each fill would work AND if it does.......maybe I could vape the hemp fiber in the Solo when it gets clogged/soaked...Bonus!

I let the top screen siak in iso for a few hours and it cleans it fully

How is cleaning the bottom screen? I have large fears about this. But it needs.

So far I've been able to keep the bottom screen clean by doing a high temp burn-off and sucking (not inhaling) the air until the unit turns itself off.

I'd love to hear what others are doing when the burn off stops working.....or will the burn off continue to be all we need to keep the bottom screen from clogging.

I really recommend the bubblerMP if the vapor feels harsh at high temps. I don't smoke at all and can't vape at high temps but with the bubbler, the vapor feels really cool and moist and the mouthpiece is not expensive.

I have a D020-D bubbler and 14mm Gong and I think I saw a video where you could use the stock mouthpiece with this set up just by lowering it onto the bubbler. Haven't tried it yet but the silicon mouthpiece looks and feels like it will provide an airtight connection.

I second the bubblerMP. Thing looks cheap and there's some backsplash but it's cheap and it really helps with those higher temps.
