Would I be far off from thinking that younger people with fresher inner body parts can handle dry rig use better...while we "more experienced" people tend to like the water because of the battle damage on the ol' pipes and air bags?
I would think it's the other way around, most of the younger crowd seems to be into water pipes, while the old schoolers still burn doobies; and many of their dads are still smoking from metal pipes!
I definitely enjoy using water more often than not! It was not always like that though. I was using a 1.5 foot, beaker base bong for a very long time. It worked well with my CF, but I always noticed there was a certain "kick" that I was not getting. I recently got a VapCap and immediately noticed a distinct lack in potency while running it through this bong. I went and bought a much smaller bong (it's a dab rig that I further rigged with the fat mouth piece hahaha), and now there isn't a huge difference in potency or flavor. I think the primary problem with the beaker base is the quantity of water, which I infer provides more surface area for that sweet beep beep to get lost.
I may have picked the wrong crowd for that last line, but hey my first post!
I think it's also a cultural thing. Bong rips are clearly representative of the US way of consumption to me. It's akin to binge drinking: big and as fast as possible. I'm always surprised in all the threads I frequent how many people seek to cash their bowl in one to three hits, where I enjoy taking upwards of 30 small hits for the same bowl quantity, and have it last in a laid back fashion.
It's also due to the fact in the US you guys don't mix with tobacco at all. So your bowls don't combust well unless you cash them fast (they tend to extinguish, whereas with tobacco it entertains the combustion) and that's true with or without water. In Europe we smoke way more spliffs than we use glass pipes and bongs.
For sure, where I live we also use bongs, but it's mostly teenagers who are still learning what parsimony means who do. It's not "civilized" nor social. It evokes addiction and needing to go hard and also selfishness (quite the contrary of a spliff which you are socially expected to share with everyone in the room) Nobody of my age around me uses them anymore.
I agree.Never was a bong guy and find water.............waters down vapor regards taste and potency.
Dry rig use all the way here... and I am 67.Maybe I should of had a poll as well. Like showing age groups and water rig vs dry rig use.
that was my conclusion as well.. I only use a smaller bubbler (Fab Egg) made for dabs with my vapes...not a lot of water or tall stacks to milk ETC... keeps flavor longer and pulls the vapor very well...
I have a Solo OG, Milaana OG, Lil' Bud, and a bunch of vapcaps. I use all of them except my Lil' Bud through water at some point. Right now, because of allergies, and how hard they hit, I use my vapcaps through water 100% of the time. I'm not sure I see that changing. The vapcap has always caused me to cough the most, but it's also my hardest hitting vape, so I wanted to find a pathway to using them. Water was it for me.
I find that taste really isn't diminished much-there's typically way more goodness on my lips when I use a bong than when I go natively. And I get way bigger hits so I get higher. When I combusted I used a bong for the same purpose-bigger hits to get higher.
A 'typical' day for me is to start things off with my Solo OG natively at temps in the 374f-383f range. Later in the afternoon I may pull out the bong and use the Solo at 410. Watching the news I'll typically have a stem on either my Lil' Bud or Milaana, and then later in the evening I start using a vapcap-all but one of mine are set up to use with water, and that's an '18 M I keep for using out and about.
Strings.....you are like me it seems....vapcap is the one that is hard to pull directly off it without water. And the water allows me to taste more with all my vapes. Though.....I can deal with my argo and a small jhook when I cant use water.....which is rare.
Even when a water-pipe is clean, theres a particular "vape water" smell that builds up very quickly, like after 1 session. Its not a particularly bad smell, but it does mix with the flavor of the vapor.
I notice it too, especially with my convection vapes . My dab rig takes a lot longer to build up any off flavors. And even when it does start tasting like reclaim, it never really gets as bad as one flower hit would make it.
I noticed too, water after one session smells awfull (I only vape flowers, mainly convection)
Differently and worst than reclaim IMO
Maybe a combination of terpens oxydation with microbial development?
certainly a lot of chlorophyll in the left over vaped through water... while using a bottle to pour it into it was green hued and smelled like Grass. But, mostly vape water smells like a lipid took a Shit in thereI believe it's caused by water filtering burnt sugar fumes and the combustion of other non vaporizables present in the dried flower. Also probably oxidized water soluble terpenes and chlorophyll degradation, and likely some microbial stuff going on too eventually as we all know how nasty a water pipe can get.
I started noticing with my flowerpot, that my oil hits would taste good but as soon as I did a single flower hit from the same rig, everything would taste contaminated.

do you know what pressing so hard does to the plant cells ? it would certainly burst their bubble so to speakI just use the rosin press lately to easily remove that exogenous plant material. I think the ancient cultures understood this with their empirical wisdom and hashing traditions.
I find rosin really just combines all of the classic hash making techniques into one - heat, pressure, and separation.
