Can you ?
Same here... doesn't help that I cook with ABV and the ABV bin is made of many strains.edibles in me cause varying levels of medication but nothing like vaping.
Hmmm interesting question.... my impression and experience has been NO.
Why? What makes different strains unique and distinguishes them from each other? The terpene profile does, in addition to the cannabinoid profile.
Most terpenes are more volatile and boil off more easily at lower temperatures compared to most cannabinoids that we're interested in right? Isn't this why it's really smelly when you cook flower or shake material into butter or oil? Isn't that much of your loose terpenes being released from your material?
There's no way of cooking with cannabis that I know of which retains these free terpenes. Also, when I see packaged edibles and drinkables, they almost never say what strain they're made from, and they also tend to hit me "the same way" with a kind of generic high. Occasionally, it might say "indica" or "sativa" on the package, but I've never discerned different or matching effects from them.
You might tell I'm not a huge fan of edibles.
I'm not opposed to them, but for many reasons...
Vape > Eat
The only exception from my postulation would be what looney just mentioned there, with a difference between a CBD rich, THC rich, or with different ratios between the cannabinoids of the input material, and being able to notice the difference in edibles made from those different types of materials.
When I decarb my fresh stuff for a batch of oil, it's always done in a sealed mason jar to reduce airborne odor. If after the oven decarb, the mason jar is allowed to cool back down, shouldn't the terpenes theoretically still be somewhere inside my jar? Most terpenes are more volatile and boil off more easily at lower temperatures compared to most cannabinoids that we're interested in right? This.Yes, I can still detect differences. But when I used to bake it was typically with high quality bud and kief (occasionally hash/oil). You can tell the difference between a brownie made with Cannatonic (16%-6% CBD-THC) and one made with Trainwreck or Purple Grandaddy. 'course you'll have to form that opinion over many hours for each brownie
Thanks for taking one for the team!I found the title of this thread really interesting and decided to test it for myself.
whats better/stronger/tastier/most efficient style to cook with? coconut oil or butter??
I believe that is because animal fats can aborbs (and do it well!) more from the plant's constituents than does the coconut oil.My butter would be my go to for pain relief, coconut oil for energy, and upliftment!!!
