A friend just got back from Calif and a shop sold him a 100 mg choc bar and advised to "only" eat 25 mg or 1/4.
My initial response was, that seems like a lot for a starter dose. He went on to say he was totally immobilized for several
hours.
So, 40 mg and nothing (or 70 mg) seems odd but edibles really are soooo difficult to predict as results vary immensely. A lightweight vaper can eat huge edible amounts and nothing, while a huge stoner can get totally zonked on a tiny edible...
Edibles are the trickiest. 5-15mg is the (should be) the starter dose. Wait an hour and then do 5-10mg, rinse and repeat. It's all tied to the individual's metabolism, so widely varies.
My wife, for example, can eat 15-20mg of one edible and be on a good body high; whereas, 50mg of another just puts her to sleep. I can eat 15mg and nothing, but if I eat 20mg (or more) I get a body high that's too much. I'll be high for at least 12 hours regardless when I take it.
I made some ABV banana bread that was amazing, and the recipe called for 7 grams of ABV. I used 10 grams. I ate a 2 inch chuck of the bread, waited an hour and nothing. As I was eating the second 2 inch chunk it hit me like a freight train. I couldn't (chose not to) finish the 1/4 of bread in my hand. I was on a super body high from about 8pm on a Friday night through 4-5pm the following Saturday.
Long story short, no more edibles!
