I know that it's a spin-off of Jack Herer but can someone give me a bit more detail into the genetics?

Ok, buddy (I'd like to use a stronger word here than "buddy" but I'd be breaking some FC rules). Yes, I Google all the time and yes, I Googled YDK Jack before I posted my original post and yes, I already saw those two pages which was the exact reason why I came here to ask the question that I asked in the first place. What those two pages did NOT offer me was the answer to the original question that I asked which was, what are the genetics of YDK Jack.

So in response to your condescendingly helpful post, let me respond to you with this. Reading and comprehending what is asked in the original post before responding is an amazing thing to do.

(Achhhhh...........why do I even bother to respond to posts like this? I should know better....)

As Rowan and Martin used to say "Sock it to me":tup::lol:
Sorry @lwien, i never intended to be insulting. Good natured sarcasm just doesn't translate well in black and white text.

I guess it's a pretty obscure strain since our internet info sources - Google, Leafly, SCLabs - have nothing more on it. You are right, maybe someone here on the forum has personal experience growing it and may have some genetic information. I assume you have some of it. Does it have sativa-like effects?

Nope. Don't have any yet. Thinking of getting some but I wanted a bit more info before I do.

I have no doubt that it has sativa like affects being that the second link that you posted up from High Times stated that YDK Jack was the first place winner as the best sativa flower in the 2015 Cannabis Cup and I think it's also safe to assume that Jack Herer is part of it's genetic profile.

Lwien - at the risk of being unhelpful, if this YDK Jack strain is at the dispensary you recommended to me last year, you should just ask them about it. The knowledge in that building seems to go both wide and deep.

Otherwise, sorry, strain names are getting ever more nichey and ridiculous and it's getting harder to tell what's real and what's just slapped onto the latest crop of bagseed.

Naw, it's from a dispensary that I've never been to before. But your'e right. If it was from CornerStone, I'd be on the phone with them right away.

lwien,
A review found on page 4 of a Google search. The guy says it has sativa effects http://420potreviews.wixsite.com/ho...-Review---Sativa---420PR-000004---Studio-City

"YDK Jack is a very nice sativa strain. You get a nice head high, smooth and consistent potency. I feel very in control of my thoughts with this strain. Almost a heaviness to it but it's not an og. A very philosophical strain seemed to be smoked by brainiacs smoking out of Sherlock Holmes pipes and holding debates. The high makes you want to think, maybe a good strain to work on that mid-term paper especially if you need the sativa aspect to keep you up late. Long lasting, smooth high.

High: 9

Taste: 9

Potency: 8.5

Bud Formation: 8

Overall: 8.6"

Thought widely accepted as a cross of three strains, is JH confirmed? Saw a bit saying genetics are a secret. And that they have a few different phenotypes. If that's the case, probably a real PitA to find out.

That said, I DM'd Lorax Labs and asked what the genetics are, will see what they say.

I am puffing XJ-13 right now actually and it's great. Another offspring of the JH

Thanks @HellsWindStaff. JH is not confirmed. Just an assumption on my part.

btw, J1 is another JH spinoff that I've heard is pretty good as well.

Seriously thinking about picking up some Durbin Poison that my go-to dispensary just got in. Never had it before. I love sativa's but I don't want it to be too racy.

Sativas or sativa dominate hybrids that are my favorite so far is White Widow, Kilimanjaro, Jack Herer, SSH. Tried Neville Haze but it was a little too edgy for me. Had to cut it with some Tahoe OG to tame it down a bit.

I just posted this poll up...... http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/favorite-sativa-poll.23210/

Durban Poison is one of my, or maybe is, my all time favorite daytime productive high. It can be very intense and racy if you consume too much.

For me, a lightweight, a tiny nug, no more, produces a clear headed, let's getter done, high.

Really good bud to keep you going and never a munchy coming down.

You see Durban Poison in some very popular Hybrids like the Girl Scout Cookie strain that has branched out into several strains now. The Mint GSC is good too and one of the parents is Durban Poison.

Yup, DB's been a great parent. Raised some great offspring that really made a name for themselves.
