What is a "flowers only" vaporizer?

I know this is a stupid question, but what does "flowers only" mean? Obviously, I know you can't put oils in it, but can someone explain to me precisely what this means? Does it mean you can only use one part of the plant?

Thanks and apologies in advance.

It means its for herbs (the h is silent lol) and not concentrates.

Concentrates require a different approach to vaporization.

the answer is already given, but maybe this adds a bit to that, from a more botanical perspective:

the part of the cannabisplant that is harvested to smoke/vape are the buds. the buds are actually the (female) flowers/flowerclusters of the weedplant. since cannabis is windpollinated it doesn't have colorfull flowers(no insects have to be lured to it), instead cannabis produces lots of tiny flowers, with the pistils hanging out to maximise the chance of pollen reaching it by wind. the pistils are the 'hairs' you see on a bud.

so therefor weed/bud=flower. (hash and hashoil are both concentrates, made from the flowers)

And as concentrates grow in popularity, people have figured out how to sandwich waxes/oils in between flowers. So almost any flowers-only vape can be used with concentrates. A favorite here is the triple candy, oil-infused flowers with kief coating.

Thanks for the warm welcome and information, everyone. Can I still grind a nugget and put it in?

I am trying to decide on a vape. I have a medical marijuana prescription and my doctors do not want me engaging in "combustion."

Welcome to FC @NewYorkNativist .

Zookeeper beat me to your question, so I will ask you one.
Is there a particular vape you were considering that is flowers only?

Everyone sings the praises of the Pax Ploom. I need something I can bring around. Do you have any other ideas? Can it produce a great high? And, should I get one for my house too? If so, which one?

The general consensus is The pax works good but it loses a couple points for flavor.
A lot of people call it the e-blunt

I personally like the arizer solo better for flavor, but it looses points because you need to pack multiple bowls if there is more than one person.

Apparently the pinnacle pro has the best taste compared to most portables, but I don't have any experience with it

I have a few, one being the Pax. It's a great portable, but definitely loses points on flavor, and it can get harsh on the RED setting (Pax has three settings). Also, I don't have it but check out the Firefly vaporizer. A lot of people have liked that one too I think.

For home use, the closest thing I've come to the same feeling as combustion is the VapeXhale Cloud EVO but I urge you to check out the thread and make your own decision about it. They have had trouble with manufacturing, and had to start over, so as of right now, they aren't honoring warranties of Cloud+ (however, you can pay them a fee to trade in your broken Cloud+ to a Cloud EVO). I absolutely love my Cloud EVO though.

I've been perusing some reviews and the Solo keeps coming up. To an extent, I understand their differences.
One complaint about the Solo is that the glass stem doesn't fit snugly. However, that was an earlier review and one person said that the newer batches of them didn't have the problem anymore. It was on someone's personal blog, so I don't know which account is more credible. Does anyone here have experience with the Solo, Pax, and Pinnacle? I only ask because many of you have multiple vaporizers in your description bars below your names!

Thanks again for your patience, kindness, and expertise.

ETA: I will usually be vaping by myself, if that matters.

@NewYorkNativist I haven't used the pax, so I'm unsure. After reading through some of the pax thread it seems to be a overall good performer, just requires a little extra effort from the user to keep it clean. Many owners seem very happy with it from what I have read. Just watch out for unauthorized copies.
The Ascent from DaVinci may be another option in that price range. I think they have gotten most of the kinks out by now. It has a all glass airpath, so the flavor may be better than pax? I haven't got to use either so I'm just forming a educated guess from what other members have posted.
Another is the Arizer solo. It is cheaper than both the ones I mentioned above, has a well placed track record, great flavor, and a loyal following here on FC.
If you plan to vape a lot indoors, then yes I would consider a home unit. But if your mostly out and about a portable may be all you need.
I would reccommend the E-Nano for home use. It is a awesome performer, great price, and delivers awesome flavor. I hope this helps

I have a Silver Surfer at home. Honestly, I'm not 100% thrilled with it. I'm thinking of trying another home unit and I will check out the E-Nano. And, I'm moving more and more towards the Arizer solo. The main issue I have with the Pax is what the mouthpiece looks like. I'm gonna check out those threads. Thank you again.

What was your issue with the silver surfer?

Also the loosening of the stems on the Solo is a normal design feature. People fail to realize this and think its a problem. The stem seal gets broken in after a few uses and thus the stem feels looser when inserted.

As much as I love my E-Nano, just know that there are certain techniques needed to use it properly, honestly. Sometimes I get ridiculous rips, sometimes I don't. Sometimes it chars my herb, sometimes it leaves it light.

That being said, I still love my E-Nano and recommend it for the price. It is truly the best vape that I know of for about $200 bucks.

This thread just wouldn't be complete if I didn't say to check out The Firefly. It's pretty much designed for "solo" use.

See what I did there? :dog:

Now we just need a certain someone to bring up The Lotus. :)

Anyway, since you've said you want something you can bring around and that you mostly use by yourself, it's another option.

I have one too. Used it for years. Also have the nano and Solo, as well as a few pocket portables. Among those, if If had to pare it down to just one, I'd keep the Surfer. It's the best of the bunch for long term reliability and big hits, and a big hitter can always be used for small hits. You don't say what you dislike about the SSV, but the other models won't give you better performance, just maybe some versatility and/or portability.

For good recommendations, you also really need to make it clear whether you're looking for a portable or an AC unit. Portables are always a compromise in some way, vs. home units, in order to allow that portability, especially pocket portables. The Solo is more of an in between design.

I vote checking out a T-Vape if you want to avoid combustion, it will never go to combustion but is still capable of extracting all the goodies out of your herb.
I only mention this as it is a better choice than the PAX in my opinion. But I could see you having an issue with its mp as well, but it could be customized more than the PAX.

But if you're leaning towards a Solo it would be a great decision, I would definitely chose it over a T-Vape and PAX if I wasn't using it everywhere in public.

I should have been more specific regarding the SSV. I am new to vaping and someone gave it to me as a gift. I have a hard time using it because no one showed me how, I have a difficulty putting the temperature at the proper setting, and, one time, I managed to light managed to burn my herbs. It's great thing if you know how to use it. It's fun when a friend comes over because he knows how to make it work well. And, I don't use the whip well easier.

Before you give up completely on your SSV. I think you should check the SSV thread out. It is full of tips, tricks and techniques that could help you master and maybe even fall in love with it. Everything is there. Temp knob positions, draw techniques, packing tips etc.etc.etc...

for the home or out and about, +1 for the solo! (only if ultimate stealth is needed, would I look elsewhere).
