What box mod are you using / recommending for on-demand convection 510 vapes?

I know several of you got the wismec 2/3. Just wondering how you like it and if you've had any trouble with the battery cover.

I don't have the 2/3 but I do have the slightly updated "RX Gen3" which is a full-time 3-battery mod that has a few upgrades over the 2/3 like 2A balance charging. It is amazingly small for a 3-battery mod and it has excellent build quality - feels really solid. I have been using it with my iHeat with ArcticFox firmware and I am really happy with it. I am running straight TC, no preheat or anything.

Wismec has also released a 21700 and 20700 version of the RX series as well, if big batteries are your thing.

I think I am going to pull the trigger on this mod.

They have it on sale for $99.99. I know @Other Side recommeded it in the splinter thread.
Yeah buddy!

One thing to note here. That link takes you to a slightly older model with a different display and button configuration. It works the same as the newer one in my experience but the display and menu are nicer and easier to navigate in the newer model. That said you will probably have to pay an extra $20-30 to get that so may not be worth it to some.

I think I would like it way more if the side had a design and the screen was a normal small non touch screen though...

Then it wouldn't be a touch screen. ..LOL
seems like nothing more than a gimmick to me. It isn't like you'll be navigating web pages and swiping around apps and stuff on it. You change like 3 settings and that's about it lol.
Perhaps you're right......but my eye sight is not what it used to be so I kinda appreciate the large screen.

Any GeekVape Aegis 100w users here?
Linky

It's about $44 after you add the code MAP at the moment and should be a lil cheaper next month with their Chinese new year sale code

Since the disappearance of the cheap Vapedroid dna devices from their store the Aegis has moved to the top of my list so I thought it best to ask you guys before I pull the trigger.

General feedback on the FastTech forum is good (they can be quite brutal on there lol) and lots of videos of people testing the dustproof, waterproof, shockproof claims online that seem to be having a lot of fun trying to destroy the mod with little success, which is a definite plus for me :)

Can this DNA mod be set without using Escribe? Like can you choose your own TCR settings from the box or do you have to hook it up to a computer and add in TCR presets? I have a DNA 250 mod that only works through the computer and creating TCR profiles in escribe is more than difficult for me since I dont have a home computer.

Does the newer model go by the same name or is there another way to easily differentiate? Just want to make sure I order the right one if I pull the trigger!

if i remember correctly one of the 8 stock profiles was set to TCR so i want to say yes, but the first thing i did was replace the stock profiles so i cannot guarantee it. escribe is very easy to use imo. not having a computer certainly makes that irrelevant tho.

Volcanoecig.com had them for 39 bucks before going oos :(

yeah i know. i got mine from VapeNW for $45, but still even at $60 that is a great deal. this mod is easily worth the $100 price point it started out at. im still considering getting another.

the newer model of the Therion is the Paranormal. its basically the same device, but features a bottom hinged battery door of which most feel is an improvement. its also slightly larger, but only by a mm or two here and there. i dont think youll find them as cheap as the Therions as they replaced the Therion, but imo the Therion looks a bit nicer. both are great from what i understand. and both can be had in DNA75 versions of which is more than enough for cannabis vaping use.

I tried creating a couple of profiles in escribe on my work computer but being it is at work I cannot spend a lot of time on it nor can I test out the settings right away. I also do not understand how to create a custom TCR in escribe. If you can elaborate on how to set a custom TCR, I probably could get on fine with the device I have. Let's say I want to use the Amigo L9 cart. I have had good success with this cart using a TCR value of 200 at 8 watts and 400F on my Evic VTC Mini 60W mod. How do I create something for this cart in escribe?

Want to add to the chorus for any DNA 75 mod - I just switched from a evic VTC Mini 75w to a DNA 75 kit-built mod (milled copper enclosure, it's hefty and ridiculous and beautiful) for use w/ my RBT Splinter, and the upgrade was profound. Just running w/ the base software, and it's simple and awesome, TC mode is super reliable, no 10sec shutoff, just hold fire button and draw. I guess this board is getting older, which also means it's very supported, I'm so happy w/ it that I immediately ordered parts for another (lighter aluminum enclosure this time but w/ a 26650 battery).

Edit: quick pic

you can get the DNA75 board for $50 directly from Evolv.

idea! maybe we should do an FC designed mod enclosure. start a thread and start sharing designs. could design different brackets for dif MFGs chips.

I'm finding the board, 3D printed board mount, custom buttons, 510 connection, and battery sled, all for $50 total, and you can google "DNA CNC" to find a few different enclosures already drilled which is the worst part of the labor. The rest is just 10 solder joints and a little gluing, most folks could handle it. A custom enclosure wouldn't be too hard to model or get milled in small batches.

@Fat Freddy Many mods are programmed w a 10 second auto-shutoff (ie button needs to be re-pressed after 10 seconds), which isn't a big deal, just one more thing to think about or to explain to the person you're handing it to, especially when you consider preheat and draw time together are usually longer than 10 seconds. Some mods you can update the software and get around this, in my case the base DNA 75 doesn't have a shutoff, so just fire and go.

So is the shutoff function programmed to protect the coils in traditional box mods or is it that the DNA somehow makes the shutoff unnecessary? Kinda curious is all?

TIA!

Don't want to pretend that I know for sure - maybe there's a shutoff in power mode that I'm not seeing in TC mode, just my interest in learning more is totally satisfied by the new status quo. But yes, it's a safety measure, but kind of an arbitrary one, and there are other safeties, and coils are way more delicate than RBT heaters, and...

can you link me to what you listed for $50? specifically the board, board mount, and buttons. thanks!

EDIT: @Fat Freddy the 10 sec shutoff is to dummy proof a device from being misused to the point where it could be dangerous. in situations where the battery is being abused. Evolv knows that if youre not a total dipshit then theres not much to worry about. its also about not overheating the coil, but with TC thats a non issue.

i will say i LOVE not having the 10 sec cutoff. or love not having to think about it ever again at least.
