I do agree with @mewash2 in the selection of which chamber for your thick co2 oil.

I take a different approach however as to the orientation of the pen.
I always keep my VIPs aiming to the sky, and I leave the coil immersed.
If there is some clog, I go ahead and heat/draw/heat/draw to unstick it.

I do take a couple of precautions for the mentioned concerns.
Before putting the pen away, I inhale a number of lengthy breaths through the pen to open the bottom ports and to thicken the oil through cool air.
If it gets badly clogged, I use thumb, index, and middle finger of one hand to seal 3 of the vents, while I pop the other free using heat... then I go around, and remove other hole cover while 3 are still covered... until all 4 run free.

A concern with laying the pen down, with oils, is that in summer's unstable temperatures, the oils will soften, and could find it's way into the bottom-most vent... with no actual stopper on the other exposed vents.. which allows a leak (test this with drinking straw full of water... hold finger on top water stays, remove finger water escapes).
Rather than allow one hole to plug alone, I allow pen to stand so that all 4 vents fill and seal at same level, and oil freezes in that position, and won't seep into the chamber's "inner sanctum"

For that there is a cost....
I must heat and clear the unit as I am taking my next hit. Not an issue... and it keeps all ports breathing uniformly.

There is no right or wrong here....
There is only discovery of which inconveniences in maintaining unit you are more prepared to deal with... and your own preferred coping mechanisms!

Ah...dead thread comes to life. I am Dr. Frankenstein. IT'S ALIVE!

But, seriously. I just bought 2 VIP liquid cartomizer from vapeusa.com as they appear to be going out of business and at $24 / ea, when I am in the market for a pen, um...yeah...gotta go with a 7th floor pen vape over generic pen vape in dispensary.

My question: with proper cleaning, how long will the heating chamber last? What DIY parts can I use on this to Franken it to keep it going if need be? I see that standard pen batteries will probably work, but at $15, I bought a spare. I bought a second pen when I found the heating element itself on another site for $24 and so I went back and ordered another full pen (extra battery, extra cart, extra heating element...for same price)

I just want this for liquid. And I do not like the idea of a fully disposable pen if I can get one that will last for a while. I have a Haze for flower, but I am about to embark on an 8 hr/day 5day/week class and think smoke breaks will be easier with a liquid pen vape. I know the class will be easier with vaping, no question. Helps curb my anxiety over not knowing/getting shit right, and activates my ADD super focus.

Bummed to find out 7th Floor stopped these, but I get why.

ETA: Oh, and I read through the whole thread, but I have no vape DIY experience, so it was all kinda Greek to me. And, admittedly, I was reading at 11pm
