VIP from SSV

It works if used with the glass partition/screen.
The glass itself becomes the heat source.
It only has room for a small load, and it does medicate.
It gives a few hits per fill.
Those that have it here use it for dry herb like it.
There are a number of patients here that use it as their only herb vape.

While I did test the device to see finally that the dry herb chamber functioned,
And... I do endorse the fact that the chamber can be used for flower, I do not use
my VIP1 for herb.
Personally I use my pens for oils only.

I have corrected my words to say a few.... I was not trying to be exact.
One can do as many hits as they choose.
After 2 or 3 hits, I stop.
My herb is sufficiently tan for me.

Essence vape pen has arrived.
It is a slim nice design, that is more pocket friendly than I imagined.. with an easy protection mode. There is no screwing on this unit at all. the element plugs in to unit, as does accesory top (for globe use) The mouthpiece also pops on and off.. no screwing.

I can fit a very decent sized dab in there, and it gets totally consumed.
The funnel like shape of the inner housing that leads up to the element, allow the dab to remain moving in a direction toward the element.

Hey guys, early thoughts on my VIP2.

I love it! I don't take large hits so packing the small heater with wax keeps me going for longer than I had anticipated.

I second Vitolo's thoughts about it being somewhat challenging to pack. Vitolo I have a question for you about that. I noticed that the mouthpiece ends fairly close to the heater and since we took the cap and wick off for concentrates the mouthpiece is open ended. Have you ever tried to lightly stick a ball or dab at the bottom lip area of the mouthpiece and allowed the heat to being it down into the heater?

I have not tried the VIP2 in that way.
I do not because then, inside of unit will get residue, which would touch the joint/space where the shell meets that small Atomizer. Residues when hot are thin and get everywhere, and consequently could hamper the atomizers actual contact.. making a sticky cleanup for you later.
I do always remove the "needle" tip. on each atomizer, to make packing easy, and then load from atomizer lip.

Great vid Vitolo! Can you give us an idea of how long the battery on the essence lasts when fully charged? Can the essence take a load the size that the VIP 1 can take? Thanks!

The Battery on the Essence is heating a smaller amount of wire, and a more efficient core.
I think that although smaller, it lasts as long as the VIP1 (VIP2 a different ballgame.. externally charged AAAs)
The VIP1 can fit a larger load, like a half gram.
The Essence can fit a pea sized dab, but it is easier to use smaller dabs.
You must be prepared as with most pens to let the gathered pool of concentrate warm so that you can suck air flow through it when it first hardens. ("popping" a clog)
Good taste, and easy to 'pop' the clog.
Nice slim profile, and nice slim price.

I recently bought a SSV VIP 1.3 cartomizer kit for smoking e-liquids a couple weeks back. It worked great initially but now after 2 weeks, it is getting really hard to pull the smoke out of the vape. Do you think it may be clogged or there is a defect in the device. I haven't cleaned it since I got it. Did anyone have a similar experience? How often do you clean your vaporizer and how do you do it?

My heaters eventually build up a layer of black shit on the coils. I burn it off by doing multiple empty cycles with a fully charged battery. I would love to find a better way.

Use Iso (91%)
Use it in brief spurts....
fill doctor's syringe if you can....
hold the coils upside down and forcefully shoot up at it.
Avoid the "scabbing" by replenishing the wax/oil in the chamber well before it starts to get low... it prevents that shell.

at least "on" the coils.... so you can see a sheen.
I fill as the hits just begin to weaken.
that is when the oils start to dry up.. or "scab over'
above the coil is good, as long as it is not so deep that you must work hard to get the air flow going with heat.

Has anyone tried using CO2 oil in the cartridge/mouthpiece? I'm curious if it is too thick to flow through the wick into the heater core.

The wick leading into a core on the VIP2 is for vaping ejuice
to use CO2 oil, it needs to be dissolved to stay in suspension with an ejuice medium (glycerin)
If the CO2 oil is wax.. and thick you would pull out the center post of atomizer and put the oil in directly.
In a post at http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/vip-from-ssv.8905/page-11#post-381817 there is a video...

If you use something like this > http://www.amazon.com/Liquidizer-EJmix/dp/B00HG01FI8 you could mix ejuice from the oil which would vape in the cartridge provided and the posts would be left intact on atomizers.

If the CO2 oil is very thin already, like honey oil, then it could go directly into the cartridges provided, and vaped just as it is, but this can set you up for waste, as it can leak, and become messy. Honey oils (CO2 and otherwise).. while being a delightfully clean treat are notoriously runny and do like to find ways to escape their confinement.

I am finding waxes to be too sticky and the glycerin based tincture from my dispensary is too weak.

The CO2 "oil" I am thinking about comes in a syringe. I don't know if it is honey oil ,or even oil for that matter, seems there are a lot of different terms for similar products.

I have an extraction that I made using grain alcohol and decarboxylated flowers. Perhaps I can add that to the glycerin tincture and allow the alcohol to gas off. If not I'll try the carrier you linked to. Again, thanks!!!

If my main needs for a vape pen is to be able to fill it and not have to continue to load it is the VIP a good fit?

I know I can get a dome and continue to fill loads, but I'm mainly looking to fill it with oil and just leave it in there for day/weeks and be able to just use it.

In your "VIP changes" video towards the end the cartomizer is that filled with cannabis oil? Can it use oil that has a thicker consistency?

It was filled with glycerin tincture.
You would want to "dab" the thicker oil... or use one of the new mixes (EJmix) to make it more "wick friendly" to use in the cart.
While "Pure Gold" alone could work, it also could leak a bit, and it is a costly leak if this is the case.

Which vip1.3 would you guys recommend for thick gooey non cut co2 oil? I was under the impression the original vip1 was ok to just dump wax/oil into, but with the vip1.3, all I see is a flower chamber that looks like it might work for wax/thick oils.

I want something i can fill and use all day, i was not impressed with the way i had to reload the dabbler every few hits, ect.

any advice on which vip1.3 would be best for a good ammount of thick co2 oil?

You want the dry herb heating chamber. It doesn't work great for herb, but it is great for oil. You can load it up with a lot of oil, but there are a few things you need to do differently than when you use it with small amounts. When the oil level is well above the coil, I hold the VIP horizontally like a cigar when I hit it not upright like a bong. This allows a portion of the coil to be exposed and above the oil level. Also when I am done with a session and there is a substantial amount left I lay the pen down on it's side rather than standing it up. The oil will cool and harden on the side wall of the chamber and not seal up the air hole. This is just my opinion. Vitolo is the pen expert around here and his advice is as solid as it gets.
