Got my unit today. I anticipated the delivery and worked from home so that I could test it as soon as it arrived. I got everything out of the packaging and noticed that Chris had included a small whip which I had asked for, but no concentrate bowl or dome screens. Plus I have a red cap when I asked for white, but that is a minor issue.
I plugged everything in including the transformer which works perfectly...however, the control unit didn't seem to be working. I unplugged and plugged and noticed that there was a rattle inside. I picked up the Infinity and it was slightly warm, so that was a good sign that the control unit WAS working! I unscrewed the cover from the control unit and opened it up, and sure enough a wire had come out of a terminal on one of the PCBs inside. I pushed it back in and tightened the screw and voila! A working control unit
So I put the cover back on and cranked the dial to 65v. I prepared a Lotus scoops worth (about 0.05g) and put it in the bowl. Put the Infinity on top and proceeded to take a hit through my Jhanpixel howerhead. Wispy vapour but tasty...cranked the dial to 75v and finished the bowl off to a medium brown colour roast.
Next I loaded the same Lotus scoop amount and cranked the dial to 85v, same bubbler, and this time nice milk, could be thicker and not able to extract everything in one hit. Take a second hit of similar size to finish off the bowl.
For comparison, my Cloud+ on 12pm with the same load and same bubbler gets extracted in one to two hits, the first is nice and milky and the second is more of a blueish vapour.
I then tried a dab on the end of an ELB put in the male end of the bowl and cranked it to max which is 116v for me. Again nice milk and the taste was good, need to experiment more with concentrates and would like to get the proper bowl if possible. But so far I reckon it has serious potential. I like the smack in the face feeling of a TI nail dab so I will be trying to replicate that somehow over the next few days!
After, I went and got some food and chilled out a bit...I was pretty mashed up by this point. I then started to rummage through some adaptors that I have and found a 18F14M from PlanetVape which I then put the EQ dome screen in the female end as a kind of basket. I loaded the same amount of flowers (0.05g) and put the dial back to 85v to test what the extraction would be like as now the load is closer to the heater. Pretty good results, more even extraction and able to mostly cache the load in one hit. I am not sure which bowl I prefer best at the moment, but needless to say I am having fun testing
I have almost burnt myself a couple of times on the bowls and top of the unit, but to be honest I am much better now than I was 6 hours ago when I got it. It is becoming second nature to hold the unit from the bottom and not pick up the bowls too soon or in the wrong place.
I tried the whip that Chris included and it is a double screen version where you sandwich the herb between the screens, I found this not to work very well. But then using an EQ dome screen and the flower bowl inverted, I had good success with this whip and also the Simba frit, Pinnacle and f-Bomb hydratubes I have also work well like this. I feel I need to crank the voltage a bit when using the 'right' way up though.
I have been pulsing the boost on and off and using it to finish loads. I did combust once, but haven't since, you can really milk up pieces using the boost, but it diminishes the taste quite a bit IMO. Boost works well for concentrates as far as I have experienced.
More testing needed, much more
Will report back with more findings soon...
