Im sorry if I missed it but what are the temp settings? Im into the low temp dabs and I really dont want to be dabbing at 1000°f
VB2 can be turned down to low temperatures as some pros prefer, but the result could be wispy, slow, lame, and even taste burned. This is just my opinion/observation, but it seems more likely that with a low temp heater, the oils melt into the heater, bubble and cook, creating funky tastes that I don't like. You'd be riding that fine line between getting no hit at all and overcooking it. You're welcome to try
I think we confuse a lot of people by listing the heater's temperature - and maybe shouldn't anymore.
I know this is anti intuitive. Here's my simplest explanation so far: People assume quite understandably that for their oils to vaporize at let's say 365F, the heater needs to be around the same, perhaps 400 or 500F at the most. But to use my turkey analogy, that would be like putting a turkey in a 200F oven because turkey is overcooked above 165F. But in a 200F oven the turkey won't cook fast enough before it spoils or dries out. To make a good turkey, you need to use a much higher temperature, say 350-400F so that there is heat being transferred to the turkey quickly. Once the turkey rises to 165F it's removed from the oven. There is no overcooking even though the oven was set to 350F. Just like with the turkey, you need a significantly higher temperature if you want your oils to vaporize in a reasonable amount of time.
When we say our heater runs at 700 or 950 degrees, we are quoting the ceramic's surface temperature, nothing close to what the oils themselves will experience. When oils fall onto our ceramic plate they rapidly boil in the air a fraction of a millimeter above the surface. When oil reaches its vaporization point it leaves the heater and is inhaled by you. The only burning going on is at the end of the hit when the heater cleans itself back to a pure white.
All that said, anybody's welcome to set the VB2 lower using a jeweler's screwdriver on the bottom (we will show you how). Or tell us during your order that you'd like us to set the "Medium" setting to the temperature you want. We'll keep your info and followup with you- I'd like to gather as much feedback as I can.
