Vapor Brownies (ABV Cannaoil)

I'm about to try this method for the first time and was wondering if it's possible with smaller amounts of AVB? I see that most people have been using about 25g + of the stuff, and unfortunately I only have about 5g of it, to which I can add another few gs of un-vaped skunk, totalling just under 10g. These will be just for solo-consumption however, not for sale or anything like that.

I tried a few years back to make oil with slightly less than this and remember that the resulting brownies had no effects at all. That may well have been due to not really understanding the cooking-technique however..

Basically can I just scale-down the original instructions and it'll still work?

This is quite a pressing need because I have come down with a bad case of Man-Flu and hitting my SSV makes my throat really, really raw and mucus-filled for a while after, and so I've figured the illness will go away a lot quicker if I discontinue inhaling hot vapour while I'm sick.

Despite this I obviously still want to get medicated. In fact even more so now that I feel like an elephant has shat on my head! Advice would be much appreciated thank-you please.

How does Man-Flu differ from the common Girly-Flu?
Seriously I guess if you proportion it down to a mini brownie mix it should work OK.
I've thought of the same thing for personal sessions but never tried it.
There's also cookie mix recipes that call for less ABV.
What about - if you don't mind me throwing you a curve - forget ABV and
use some fresh bud for firecrackers?
That ought to get you a little high.....or something.
Hope you feel better.

Haha well Man-flu is restricted to males firstly, and it's not real flu, just a cold with a whole lot of bite I suppose. Edit: see - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_flu

Thanks very much for the well-wishes and the firecracker recipe, I'd read the posts on them with interest already but unfortunately I hate peanut butter/Nutella etc. Would it work as well with plain chocolate spread do you think? Also don't they taste really strongly of herb if you literally just stick it in the middle of some crackers like that recipe suggests?

To be honest I'm gonna struggle just to make it across the road to the local Newsagents which only has the usual basic stuff you'd find there (although they do sell brownie mix... probably because they're surrounded by college students) and they definitely don't have crackers or the like.

Having to stay in and miss a concert for which I bought tickets two months ago! Bloody typical

If I am just throwing my AVB into the mix and cooking, what temperature should I use? I'm unsure whether or not that will make a difference, but I'd like to be sure. I plan on putting coconut shavings in to mix up the leafy taste

325 is Vtac's instructions and I've followed that dutifully. I don't think I'd recommend just throwing the AVB into the brownie mix without simmering with oil.
Colly go to the *first* article in this thread and follow it to the T (except for the straining part at the end; not necessary) - you will not be disappointed.

That's actually what I was planning on doing from the start. Though I wanted to make sure of the temp to use in case I don't get all the supplies for the oil cooking and have to just throw it in. I'd much rather do the oil though. I have about 3 or 4 grams, ya think I should save up for a bit longer?

Used around 28g of brown well-vaped (darker than all the ABV in this thread) ABV + 2g of fresh herb.

Split the 8x8 pan into 4 big pieces. 2 people ate their whole pieces. Me and another person ate around a half a piece. Never had a body buzz like this before. So intense that we had no desire to vape/smoke for 5-6 hours.

If you thoroughly vape your herb, wait till you have at least an oz or more. I added 2g of fresh herb just incase the ABV wasn't enough. Cheesecloth works well, but next time I will also use a garlic press to squeeze every last drop. Thanks to VTAC for this awesome recipe.

Hey guys this may be a stupid question but could I just take my weed/abv/keif and mix it right into my brownie mix?

Yes you *can* but without a proper 'fusion/extraction' into your oil (or otherwise fat) you will be disappointed.

Take the extra time and use the cooking method or the leeching method beforehand and you will be greatly rewarded :)

And regardless of my preferred method, I personally dont strain. Just add more stuff to help cover it up :)

Leeching will allow you to bypass the strong odor emitted from simmering bud and oil. However, there will be smell baking the brownies, maybe even moreso than if you simmered the oil instead. Don't think there's any way around that unfortunately. Maybe a portable oven you can use outside of the dorm or something like that?

So AGBeer, you leech, simmer, and just put the oil and AVB into the mix without straining? Are there any pros or cons to that besides not doing the extra work of straining it? Also, how long did you leech it for? Would a mason jar be suited for leeching?

I noticed no difference in potency, just taste, when not straining the abv.

I absolutely prefer butter to oil now tho

Hello, new to this forum. Great info here:) I was searching on cooking with vap material. I am searching for answers and have not had any success yet. I have cooked in past many times (I'm old) but wasn't that happy with it. A friend gave me a vap brownie that was truly amazing. So, I made some using about 1/2 oz leftovers, and not sucked dry, just vaped till the taste got funky. I powder the vap (as instructed), and didn't really extract in butter, but just mixed it in. It was explained that it was already heat treated. Well, those were the best brownies I have ever had. Since then I have made 2 batches with fresh bud, same plants too, but not vaped. A whole brownie (1/16 a batch) was probably weaker than 1/2 the pre-vaped brownie. That doesn't sound right, but true, and I don't understand. It is high quality bud.. first rate. One batch was made in the traditional way, butter.. w/alcohol extracted on simmer for 25 min, powdered, not strained, and the 2nd batch I pre "toasted" the ground bud at 175 for 15 min. (based on info I found somewhere that sound intelligent) and prepared like the vap batch.

So, I don't understand what is going on here. The vaped batch was stronger (2x at least), same stuff, same amount. I would rather eat than vap actually, but would like to figure out how to process it to get the best results. I also wonder if having brownies every day for a month or so is effecting my judgement (tolerance), but my wife is completely having the same experience.

Thanks for any input.

ps, excuse my ignorance, but what does ABV stand for?

yesIam,
First post, here it goes.

I found this thread a few months ago and put some ABV in some Soybean Oil. I don't know how well this will work but Soy but we will find out. Has anyone else used regular Vegetable Oil made from Soy?

Since it's been a few months since I found this thread, it's been about a month that I've had some ABV sitting in some Oil. The length wasn't on purpose, I kinda forgot. I didn't put in any vinegar or salt, though I may do so before cooking.

I've also got some ABV simmering in some oil on the burner right now. I was thinking about mixing the two, so that nothing gets left behind and I have the best of both worlds. Would there be anything negative about doing this?

Also, in the with simmering oil/ABV, I put in a little butter and I might add a little whole cream (that I recently bought from a local farmer. It should be full of fat, right?). I thought maybe if I upped the different kinds of fats, it would increase the places the THC has to go.

I also bought some Soy Lecithin. So with Oil, Butter, Cream, and Soy Lecithin, I should be getting something, right?

Oh and thanks to vtac for the inspiration.

Hi yesiam and keltone7 - i heard soy lecithin is good to mix with brownie oil although i've never tried it. ABV means "already been vaped."
i leech for four or five days and I don't strain out of laziness but there's no issue with taste if you don't.
go to the first post in this thread - Vtac has a great recipe. down the line some of us have tweeked and modified it but his recipe is the foundation.

jeffp,
This may have been answered already but would I be able to use a different oil? Especially something more healthy/accessible/delicious?

I know that olive oil has a low smoke point and would add flavor to the brownies, so that may be out of the question.

Thanks in advance! I really look forward to trying this recipe.

Not sure if olive oil is advised; however there's talk about cocoanut oil being fantastic - might be worth researching.

I remember as a young girl my hippie mom made special brownies & gave me one...boy was I feeling REAL good! A few years later she taught me how to make them & ever since I have been baking up a storm ;)

Made these using coconut oil, 20g ABV (premium buds) from my Myrtlezap and iolite basically using the original recipe from this thread with a few tweaks, which I thought I'd make note of.

Reading through these threads, it seems people (myself included) were confused as to the ratio of oil to ABV. While the original post seems to indicate that an approximate 1:1 ratio should be used, this is problematic, as volume for liquids is different from the solids (the bud). You can't just measure a cup of bud and say that's equal to a cup of oil.

For instance, before using an electric coffee grinder to powderize my ABV, there was approximately one cup of bud, but after the grinding, it was a little less than 1/3 cup. I basically used an electric coffee grinder to turn my 20g ABV to powder, and used a bit more oil than my brownie recipe called for (in this case around 1/3 cup oil rather than 1/4 cup like the recipe called for to ensure there was enough to absorb the good stuff). Also, I didn't bother straining the bud after simmering on the stove for an hour...I just let it cool a few minutes and dumped it in my brownie mix with the other ingredients and mixed it up. They still tasted delicious to me...

I found that I also needed to add a bit more water than my recipe called for, as the 20g of ABV seems to sop up a lot of the liquids. Also, as others have mentioned, while the recipe called to bake at 350, I chose to bake a 320 and added more time, checking every few minutes with a toothpick to make sure they were done.

In the end, I came up with 9 brownies (I used a 9x9 pan), which would be a little more than 2g ABV per brownie. After consuming one last night, I can say they certainly worked, and some people may be able to get by on 1/2 a brownie or even less depending on your tolerance. I was looking for a nice narcotic couch lock, and that's what I got.

Just figured people might find my experience useful when making their treats. Any questions I'll be glad to respond.

Cheers,
mud

You're so lucky! I grew up hiding all that stuff from my parents and my grandmother who lived with us.
Grandmother used to say, "you can put it over on your mother and your father but you can't put it over on me! i know what you're doing, you're smoking that rat gut!"
"Aw leave me alone man."
"Don't man me!"

Ive been saving my leftovers since I started vaping and now have abt 2 ozs of VERY dark fine powder that has been vaped up to 3 times with the final run at 404 degrees F.
I have made a lot of butter in the past, always from leaves and stems. My preferred way of cooking is to put a saucepan containing the butter and weed inside a slightly larger saucepan with enough simmering water to heat the mix and then keep an eye on it for 2-3 hours...topping up the water in the outer pan as needed, then straining ( Hint: your g/f's old pantyhose makes a perfect sieve/strainer) and baking...

My problem is I'm wondering if there could possibly be anything worthwhile left in material that has been so thoroughly vaped at high temp.

Has anyone cooked with ABV that was little more than fine really dark brown powder with specks of black and got a good result?

Or will I only get CBD's that will just knock me out? :ko:

Old_Hippy,
I just finished baking a batch of these puppies. I found that it has taken approx. 45 mins to achieve a good consistency in the Brownies. I was unsure if my ABV was going to make potent cooking oil, so I added about a gram of herbage, and a small amount of kief; on top of about 5 grams of ABV. Holy crap....these are POTENT! :D They taste amazing as well, and I've found that there is almost no herb taste. GREAT SUCCESS!

Edit: The cooking time was extended since I live in a high altitude area, and had to change the recipe accordingly. I was fairly medicated when I posted this originally, but later on the effect was almost overwhelming. Very fun, but I will definitely be watching how much I eat at a time.
