After much more careful sniffing with the unit cool, I am not thinking this is a plastic issue at all. ...
I am almost CERTAIN that much of the "electronic" (or whatever each we Vapir No2 noob) talked about smelling, is related to the screens in their brand new state.. I took my bottom screen out and haven't put it back in, and held the top screen over a lighter to burn off whatever is/was on it. Using the lighter that way, seemed to fume off a noticeable amount of stuff.. some of which was.. no doubt residue from the herbs input up to that point. But since that exercise, I think I can safely say that the hint of metal taste is gone.
If you notice the threads, they (us No2 noobs) consistently go from thinking its plastic, to RE-thinking its more like a metal taste.
Since I managed the screens this way, (now after about 1 month) I've not been noticing anything but the smell and taste of vaped herbs... as I understand the process. (Iolite only experiencer)
On another note.. what a bunch of psychotic conspiracy theorists there are here in this forum! Some of you are so negative WITHOUT any No2 experience, that you come across as SHILLS for competitors YOURSELVES!
After several MONTHS of actual No2 USE.. I am able to report that the unit is holding up to more and more rugged use as I get less and less worried about hurting it.
I compare everything to the Iolite, since it is my only other vape experience, and I now have a new addition to my list of positives on the No2.. No worries about breaking the mouthpiece "stem." I have forgotten to worry about this, as I babied it with the Iolite.
Also, I totally stopped using the clear plastic tube. Although its angle and size makes it more perfect for making it look like you are sipping on a drink!.. I was getting bummed about seeing all the vaped residue building up on the inside of the straw. So thought to myself "I don't want that to go into the straw.. I want it to go into me."
without using the tube, I compare it to the Iolite again, and at the temps i am vaping, 170c.. I notice another benefit, the unit vapor does not burn my mouth as the Iolite did. Iolite was always burning the inside of my mouth on long draws late in the session. The No2, allows you to keep drawing without any need to pull back from getting too hot on the tongue or roof of mouth- as Iolite did.
I might make a video today of the vapor, per request, and post it..
I might also include in that, a video of me taking out a brand new screen, and putting it over a lighter and showing you that it burns off something, which is what causes the initial reaction of "plastic-to-eventual-metalic-conclusions of No2.
I'm trying to add to the knowledge bank of users, Burn the screens first, then try it. Meanwhile, I continue to use the NO2 in bliss! And you conspiracy theorists can/ should beat me up because I have never toked on anything other than an Iolite to compare against. That is all you need to say to discredit me. (I have no real vape experience) But please stop calling ME a shill. I am not reporting to this as a shill.
On a more humorous note.. please tell me how much one can make a shill for either the Vapir company, or as an anti-Vapir-shill for a competing company? And does anyone want to suggest a base line (probably non portable) vaporizer to allow me the insight you have regarding the ultimate experience with the purest vaporology on our planet now? Then I/we can compare it the No2 experience.
