vaping issues

So after reading around, it seems everyone agrees that vapor quality is greatly influenced by grind consistency and bud moisture. So I recently switched from a cheap 4 stage sweetstone mini to a santa Cruz shredder. The grind is much finer with some buds. But with my newest sativa from dealer (live in fl) the grind isn't much different then the sweet stone and I'm barley getting vapor from it. (Using a mflb with pa, indica vaporizer) the buds are pretty but quite leafy and fairly moist but not unusually so (never had problems with bud of simmilar moisture. The avb also doesn't get dark brown, in the mflb most I accomplish is combustion or a few wimpy hits and that's it. The indica doesn't seem to get much out of it either. Any advice?

It depends. The Magic Flight performance definitely benefits from a fine grind, and that means it's also dry, since a really fine grind is only possible with dry bud. But other models do just fine with a coarser grind and/or moist bud. It could be argued that a little moisture improves the vapor quality, since it allows good flavor from initial hits, while dry bud tends to be more harsh. Some models don't even require you to grind at all.

I suspect that your 'not vaping well' issue has more to do with the particular strain (at least the bud you in particular have on hand) than anything else. Grinder brand would be pretty much irrelevant. The cheapest generic grinder can do a bangup job on dry bud, and sticky, moist bud is always a challenge for the LB. If you can't get it to a finely ground state, you'll need to do lots of stirring/flipping to get it all exposed to the heat.

Is it possible to dry it somehow without losing potency

Leave it open to the air (ie. partially covered jar) ... when you think its dry enough, re-seal the jar and let the moisture re-distribute evenly over a few hours and then check again and repeat if necessary.

Potency won't be lost, but mass will (ie. you paid for water if its overly wet)

Boveda Humidipaks work well to keep an ideal moisture level as well (will add as well as remove moisture to keep it at a stable level)

Would pre grinding help, like grinding and storing

I prefer not to pre-grind, at least not too much in advance ... it will store better/longer if its cured properly unground IMHO ... (I pre-grind occasionally some for when out-and-about for convenience)

If the buds are really moist and uncured, I have noticed that effects improve once it cures more. :2c:

I am with ya Puffers, I feel the same way.

One suggestion, after your initial grind, dump the contents of your Shredder into a bowl, and muddle it until it is the consistency of sand. If is not breaking up that small, leave it out for an hour and try again:)

Is sand consistency OK for the indica? I know mflb is supposed to be good with super fine grind. Ok I won't pre grind, it's a little over a half o. I let it sit out uncovered last night it dried OK and I'm getting better results now. Ty all for the input and help xD
