Nice one SM. I have to say, its nice to see the Cloud on a smaller piece of glass that isn't a Hydratube. Also, very cool VXC to recessed joint fit.

I had a dream the other night about the Cloud being released and the units trickling out due to the sheer volume of orders. There was a discussion that somehow got started on FC about whether VapeXhale should hypothetically allow people who make $1,000 donation to order a Cloud at full price via buy-it-now/delivers-today. People said "yes", knowing that it would help VapeXhale get the capital they need to grow if anyone actually did it (and wouldn't delay orders much more than they already were). People thought no one except for the rare high-roller would do it, but the donation orders came flooding in. VapeXhale used the income to expand and meet demand while working on new projects. I was on some board or panel or something? and about to see all of their new vaporizer design proposals, and....

Then I woke up. :(

Nice Mbius! :D

This could be something that was brought up in past pages of this galaxy of a thread...But, what's the deal with the bent gong connection coming out of the cloud? I thought it was always straight in the past, but this recent video, shows it being at a slight angle. would this cause tension on the glass vapor path, or at least the protruding gong male piece? Please excuse my ignorance if this has been covered, I just noticed the angle for the first time. :peace:

About time!

I was really hoping it would be something like that! :brow: let's just say I like symmetry, so things that are crooked, look really wrong to me... :uhoh: ...BUT, if it serves a purpose, and a cool purpose at that, it's ok. :peace:

Edit* saw your edit, and that reminded me...I try not to read into those little posts, cause now that you reminded me of it, all I can think is, how many days until production begins?! :uhoh:

I asked SM about the angled GonG connector a couple weeks ago when I was trying it out. I believe he said it had been caused by an overheating problem that had since been fixed. He assured me that it will be straight in the production models. Vtac's comment has me wondering if that really happened but I'm pretty sure it did.

Sorry there isn't some really interesting explanation for the crookedness but VapeArts hit the nail on the head. The Cloud that I have been using is a beta unit, including the enclosure. What happened was one night, we removed the limiter on the VXC and I left it on overnight to see what would happen. One of my dogs then knocked over the unit while it was at its maximum setting. It spent a few hours on its side and it ended up warping the glass. The good news is, the temp range that I had it on what several hundred degrees hotter than what the maximum temp will be on the VXC so no will have to worry about any warping on the production units.

This is the sound of the air being sucked thru the glass tube, the lighter you hit the vxc the less loud the sound will be.

They are definitely winding down. We are fast approaching an agreement and I will be happy to tell everyone what the next steps are once the ink is dry...

To answer your question, the sound you heard is the air turbulence that is taking place inside the VXC. Due to the increased air turbulence, the herb gets cooked much more evenly. Probably not the best for the stealthy vaporists but given the performance advantages, the pros outweigh the cons.

So it would make that sound with the standard glass also? Does it ever become annoying when vaping?

I can only speak for myself, and all the others that have tried the Cloud in my presence, no one has ever brought up the noise being annoying or taking away from the experience.

Think of it this way, you can't have Ferrari performance if you have a quiet 4 cylinder engine. If silence is your main criteria, the Cloud is NOT for you.

If huge, tasty clouds are your thing, you won't even notice the sound once you start using the vape.

what temperature do you figure it got up to? Also, can't you super glue a BBQ thermometer onto it?

oh yeah im not I know this vape has the main criteria covers. taste, minimal drag, big clouds. i will sacrifice stealth for those :p my mflb and omicron fill the stealth genre nicely :p

/me blows on the ink trying to make it dry faster! hehe

Thanks to SM55 for meeting me for a demo last week.

I am on deadline right now but will post my one-word Cloud review now: AWESOME. :o :o :o :o :o

SM55 couldn't have been more gracious and professional (in a good way! :-) ), so I had to pop in here and thank him profusely even though I don't have time to write much at the moment.

More soon when my hair isn't on fire.

That whistling is certainly a bit of a bummer, but worth it for those monster clouds (and holy crap are they monster!). My wife always nags on me for the little annoying noises I make while vaping in the kitchen (exhaust fan) but this won't be any worse than the bubbling sound of a HT anyway.

Surely such awesome airflow is going to cause a whistling/swirling sound. Even my wife would complain that it sounded like "wind blowing/howling" when I would inhale the whip of my EQ, and that is from across the room! lol

One of the things I love about my HerbalAire is the fact that those 18 little jets are at an angle. That way it makes a little mini convection, tornado, that is great for vaporizing medicine. I suspect this is a big part of the reason they say you do not need to grind. So that whistling sound on the Cloud, for me, is the sweet sound of a vortex being created. Combine that with the mesh bowl and a good grind . . . this is going to be fun.

Edit: At least I think a vortex is being created by the Cloud. Anyone with direct experience please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, if VTAC was hinting at what I thought he was, it's that this is a testament to the strength, durability, and build quality of the Cloud. If the beta unit can be cranked up a few hundred degrees, left on for hours, knocked over by a dog, and still suffer such minimal damage that the vape can still function fine, then this vape is gonna be fairly party friendly. Not expecting a tank, especially considering the quality of the hits, etc...but is seems like it would fair better than my q if they both fell off of my desk.

It has the potential to get hot enough to melt the glass, yet the exterior stays relatively cool... Nope, nothing to see here.

I wouldn't want to drop it on a hard surface, but with all the glass (except for the protruding joint) armored with two layers of thick aluminum it's a very rugged design.
