So many nice dogs! #woodporn

I'll be back for another, I can already tell. If @CurryLeafTreehugger hadn't have grabbed that Koa I might not have had the self control just now .

I have wanted an Amboyna Burl for soooooo long, and @underdog fucking delivered! Well, USPS/Canada Post will technically be doing the delivering but you know what I mean :ko: . I am ecstatic right now for my incoming Alpha .

Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggity doooooog.

That is well worth the wait right there!

Oh because *I* was showing such great self-control!

I am not allowed to look at anymore Underdogs any more. What more could one want, than an Alpha and an SC3+ (and my trusty EconoDog doing Yeoman's Service as an essential oil warmer).

Well. There are things. But that's enough for at least the next couple of years!

Hey dogs.....been loving this stem for the alpha.....had this custom kgwoodcrafts stem made for my Z, never loved it with that vape. Figured out a few weeks ago that the hybrid NonG ss fits perfectly (with a couple o-rings) in the stem and it vapes so cool and wide open. Curious why others haven't had wood stems spun for the Nongs and gongs...really enhances the look too. Have a great Friday!

Mine showed up this afternoon too woot woot!
I think I got the technique down on using this. Running at 11.8 and getting full extraction and lots of vapor using the short NonG stem. I’m soooo medicated and thoroughly impressed by this vape.

Less then 24h of ownership and my VAS is telling me to snag an Alpha...

I'm glass all the way. Because:

  • Easy to clean and even sterilize and easiest to SEE when it needs to be cleaned
  • I can see what's going on in there
  • Cools the vapor nicely
  • NO conduction cooking of the material
  • ECONOMICAL
The wood stems are pretty, and if you're a fan of any other opaque style of stem, great choice. But I like to see what's going on and wood is not very sanitary over time. Alan at HI makes some very nice looking wood stems.

@underdog - Heck *I* thought you were waiting until next week and I'd have been fine with that, but I'm just as happy to have it on its way! I just checked in to make sure when it would actually ship because I TEND TO FORGET THESE THINGS and I had better keep myself on a tight leash.

BTW - has anybody here got one of the Redwood Burl Underdogs? I was wondering how those have been holding up with whatever heater core those had ...

Haha alright then lets both take the blame and call it a week! lol

Redwood Burl is pretty and it's awesome but it's a bit soft for the older cores that conduct/radiate quite a bit more heat to the wooden body than
our more modern cores (especially the current generation).. we built a few of them back in the day but the lifespan was always a concern and seemed to be about half what a harder more dense wood delivered. As a result I decided way back then to save what I had left until I had a better core for it.

The new Alpha core or a Founders core (mostly unmentioned/unreleased) should be considerably better suited to those softer woods since it's quite a bit better at not overheating the wood as much or as fast. I'll probably be working a piece of that into a future refresh along with a piece or two of the Giant Sequoia (old growth!) we were lucky enough to acquire. :luv:

"Founders core"...........what is that?

It's basically an SC3+ but on a larger Alpha size/style top plate. They were something I made for some of our 'Founders' who helped us with testing during the redesign after the fire as a thank you gift.

Now I've got a couple dozen left and should sell them but people are already confused enough on the new core variants so I've just left them sitting in a drawer. lol

(just sitting on top of a regular SC3 body for ease of pic taking)

Still no 14mm Alpha NonG and probably won't be anytime soon if ever but we did
manage to change the 18mm Alpha NonG to have a full pass-thru bore. Easier cleaning, better airflow and you can insert screens bowl up or bowl down.

I also discovered that with the addition of a little piece of silicone on the end the SS Lite, Nylon Direct Draw and regular NonGs will all work great with the Alpha. The silicone widens the stem tip enough so that it sits on the stem-stop just above the core screen. Performance is amazing and the Alpha completely extracts all the goodies in one quick rip.. a monster one-hitter. I've been including one of these SS Lites with each recent Alpha that goes out so hopefully people are giving them a spin.

@underdog - WHEW! I think I can successfully resist THAT (cuz functionally not that different). However when and if you are ready to go to the mat with the redwood burls there may be a problem ...
Hmmm... well I definitely have one planned for sometime in the next few refreshes so you might not want to look at the website (or this thread, or our instagram) for a month or two. :brow:

Just opened up my Alpha... It's beautiful. Way to go, Underdog! Now if I can figure out how to post pictures on here you all can see it. If not, catch me on reddit.

Also you can go to the underdog website and search on the serial # of your vape to find the original sale page in the archives

It keeps saying we ran into problems when I try to upload. Regardless, I am super impressed. It's beautiful, and I got some goodies with it. LOVE MY ALPHA. Keep up the good work Underdog team!
Your picture is too big, I can't remember the exact limits but they're somewhere on the upload page. I think its 2MB and either 200x200 or 600x600 .

The error message could definitely be more helpful. More, as in "at all".

Received my very first log vape today - Bloodwood Alpha - and, man, this thing is a beauty and hits like a damn truck.. still dialing in it in and trying to hone my technique but loving every minute of it. Honestly, I had to try out all 5 stems so I'm way too blasted right now to give a coherent review, but let's just say it's love at first bite.. or bark.. or something like that..

Loving the SS Lite stem you included! I agree, its a killer little one hitter with the alpha and nice having a smaller bowl option for a quick hit. Awesome addition. Thanks so much @underdog ! Gonna be hard to resist an SC3+ with all these beauties you've been dropping!
