So... I fell asleep... woke up a couple hours later and tried to figure out what was creating an almost yogurty smell in my room... Fast forward 10 minutes, I give up, sit down and start grinding some herb. I pack the nong, and realise I don't see my Dog... Peculiar.

I look next to me and see the cord leading under the pillow I had fell asleep on.
Yuuup, my underdog was self kiln-ing itself for a couple hours.

Good news is that the underdog survived, and it looks badass (and no fire thank dog)
Bad news is that my pillow smells weird and my extension cord died the following week.

First post on this forum! I love my underdog, it's my daily driver and I own a few good vapes.

Thanks so much underdog and underdogette, you guys rock. I've even had a few of my buddies buy from you already.

But... I did something stupid...
I stayed up way later than I should have and crashed hard while watching tv and vaping on the couch...

Woke up a couple hours later... Loaded a bowl and I couldn't find my underdog... My stomach dropped when I realized what I had done. I had fallen asleep with my underdog literally under my pillow.
Good news and bad news though.
Good news is, I didn't wake up to my face being on fire, better news is I now have an even more unique Dog.
Bad news is, the Red Gum wood smells pretty strange now that it is slightly more charcoal-y and my minorly charred pillow smells even worse, haha.

This was good humor, first I was laughing at you like suuuuure someone's high and imagining things. Then see the other posts to see it's quite the opposite and I get to laugh at myself. Doesn't hurt that I've had a little bit of the Blue Dream a few minutes ago to mellow things out this evening, mild giggles, perhaps a chortle may ensue as well.

so to answer your question (kinda haha) the quickest (hottest) ones are the small pieces like: http://www.underdogvapes.com/index.php/catalog/11527/ which gets up to temp in as little as 15-20 minutes vs the large side mount Tortuga: http://www.underdogvapes.com/index.php/catalog/11484/ which can take close to an hour.

I hope it's ok to refer to posts this old. Any chance there are photos around of these historical pieces? I would like to see them, I imagine a lot of other people would also. I looked through the archives but haven't been able to find these for sure.

I'm not completely new to vaporizers, but I have never truly gotten into glass before. I'd like to pick up a "starter" glass piece of sorts to use with the Underdog. I have the 14mm GonG and NonG at the moment. Is there a good piece out there that I could get started with, something basic and moderately priced?

Lots of glass will work with your new vape. I have some cheap Chinese knockoffs that work well. A fc-711 and a fc-187. But there are many more available. You may want to check out the cheap glass thread on this site for more info.

There are a heap of options available @BlazeInTheNorthernSky. If you can get to a LHS I would suggest having a look at straight tubes 10-12" as a good starter piece or maybe a simple bubbler. Something sturdy & does not provide too much diffusion will do the trick. Even if you find the perfect piece & it is 18mm you can buy a adapter to convert it cheap enough.

BTW for anyone looking for a carbed adapter I spotted these at TAG for $9.99 & you can get them in all sizes.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction on some glass, everyone. I poked around a bit on DHGate and am going to have a look in a local shop today. I ordered a dimmer as the new Dog has been running a bit hot, so hoping that gets delivered today as I'm picking out my new glass.

Is there a different thread for posting pics of setups, or is this the right place?

I would suggest supporting your local glass blowers. Since you probably don't know any if you are new to glass, check out your local headshops. If nothing there interests you I'd suggest you check online. I'd avoid China glass for MANY reasons which I don't want to get into in an underdog thread, but lets just say this vaporizer deserves at least one real SAFE piece of glass to vaporize out of.

There are websites where you can buy used glass as well. I've gotten a very nice mobius used on the forums here, and my original mobius I got on another glass trading forum. It feels really good knowing that you supported actual artists, and that you have glass that is made out of what it is supposed to be. I know we all like to think glass is glass, but glass CAN have waste/chemicals in it and still look the same. Whats worse is that a lot of the dangerous chemicals alleged to have been found in China glass, are the most dangerous/leaching in standing water....

Go to your local headshop. Tell them you have a 14mm vaporizer bowl you want to use, and you need some suggestions for beginner glass to use with it. They will have many options in every budget, and you can see and feel it.

You have to be careful at headshops too though. Out of the 4 or so near me, only 1 is american only, the others have a ton of cheap chinese glass marked way above what the same pieces are at dhgate.

Make sure what you're getting is actually locally made.

Buck/Boost has enhanced my dog experience beyond what I thought possible. Although economy is not of first import to me, this little vape will get the most out of your herb. Also like the warm feel of the UD and it's ease of use. Compact and the only desk top unit I've been able to get along with.

Hi SSVUN, I had right about 1/4 cup in a muslin bag. It was a 'warm' wash not straight hot, and yes, unfortunately, the part that bothers me the most about trying to use it still, there was detergent.

@BlazeInTheNorthernSky Welcome BITNS! Nice to meet you, I'm also a new addition to the UD community and FC forums. I just picked up and used my first vape ever a month ago. With the right set up, on a normal'ish day (when PTSD or nausea isn't going full bore) I would estimate my herb usage is close to 75% less than I was using when smoking as efficiently as I could manage.

I would like to see pics of your UD dude. I'm going to link pics of my dog and a couple of bubblers in my sig like I see the pros on here doing. Looking forward to hearing about your UD and vaping experiences bro.

If it makes you feel any better @Lemmings I sprinkled 200g+ of ABV on my garden as fertilizer & lost over a oz to mold (only one was deliberate). Don't sweat it mate. You will have plenty more ABV in time but I advise you save the story as a mildly amusing anecdote rather than any attempt to rescue what is ruined .

As you said your herb usage is close to 75% of when you were blazing so you are already ahead of the game. Please post your set up as we all love to see a pup at play.

So a few weeks ago I finally decided to step it up. It feels like I have finally matured as a Cannabis connoisseur and it feels great. Going from a whip to hand carved warm wood is something else I tell ya!

@Tang Tonic (or anyone else with experience) Would you or someone who has used both a log and a whip style vape, of comparable quality, be willing to give a comparison or a pro/con of the two?

I was torn between the log stye I picked up and something more hands free, with a whip. With my lack of experience I decided to go with the highest quality log (underdog ofc) for efficiency rather than ease of whip use.

Of course now every time I hit a rough patch (you know when it seems like no matter what you're trying you can't get the dozen or so variables right to get your weedies fix?) I worry that I should have tried the other style.

This post gives me some peace of mind hearing how much you like your dog when you already owned a whip. If possible I would love to get some detailed comparison of the two styles from someone on here who knows what they're talking about and not some joker I googled.
