Like many have said before, I hope everything works out for you @Aimless Ryan! If you don't mind me suggesting some advice, you should focus on getting better first and not get too stressed over all the BS. Easier said than done, but your recovery should be your biggest concern right now and overwhelming yourself with all that negativity will make the healing process that much longer. Once everything is settled and you feel ready, I look forward to another UD video! Definitely keep us posted.

Going back to the raw wood topic, I found some interesting wood on a small hike in LA. I don't know if this was carved by somebody or if the wood is organically designed this way, but I found it very interesting and maybe someone here can identify it and provide some more info? Apologizes for the size of the images. Spoiler to keep it small.

Obviously the patterns would be sanded down, but I don't think I'd mind my next UD to have these striations!

Those are probably Eucalyptus (aka Blue Gum) trees and the grooves are burrowing insect (larva) damage.. possibly/probably the Eucalyptus Longhorned Borer. We have a lot of these trees around here (NorCal) too and borers are a big problem. I milled a dead/down Eucalyptus like that a few years ago so actually have some 'nicely' larva damaged pieces with texture like that.

That's super interesting! You learn something new everyday haha. I may have to start saving up to start expanding my UD family...

Speaking of which... My Ziricote UD has been treating me very nicely! I've accidentally dropped and banged it against the table a couple times, but there's no dents or marks on it. I love being able to load the stems for a night's session. My favorite combo is starting off with the glass and then using the NonG's as a little kicker when needed. I may need to add a couple more stems in the near future to have a full night without having to reload... First world problems, right?

Lastly, IIRC, when using a dimmer, you want the the cords to be in the following order, correct?
Wall wart -> Dimmer -> Extension Cord -> UD

The wall wart to dimmer is still a little short for my setup so I was wondering if there is anything wrong with using the dimmer directly to the UD?

Yep that's the desired cord setup: WW > Dimmer > Ext > UD

RE: "dimmer directly to the UD" - do you mean WW > Dimmer > UD? and leave out the extension cord? If so you could do that but it might be a little 'clunky' and would eliminate one of the biggest pros of the ext cord which is it's being a sacrificial (cheaply replaceable) cord to take the brunt of any cord fatigue that the movement of the vape causes the cord.

Sorry. To clarify, I meant is it ok to do WW -> extension cord -> dimmer -> UD?

I have the dimmer direct at the dog and it works but it is clunky. The box for the dial is constantly banging around on my desk and turning sideways or upside down when I put my dog back down. Slightly annoying but seemed easier than trying to get behind my desk at the outlet everytime I adjust the dimmer switch, which is typically a couple of times per day.

Ha I didn't try it until now and you're right. For some reason, I thought the dimmer's cord was longer than it actually is. I think I'll stick with the recommended order, but good to know there isn't any electrical/functional issues with going with the other method. Thanks @indicandescent and @underdog!

Hey twiddle, congrats on the pup! Trust me I know how you felt when you looked at our Canadian peso vs the American dollar. Hope you enjoy it. . In the interim, you might wanna check out dhgate for a bubbler.

Also if you're looking for a cheap dimmer option let me know via email, don't wanna spam the thread with that info. In any case, I found the same dimmer available on Amazon for $3.95 cdn in vancouver.

Love my pup after 7 months. Waiting sucks, hope you enjoy yours!

I hope I am posting in the right place. So I finally ordered myself an Underdog, the Wild Maple! Woo-hoo! I've been waiting an entire YEAR to buy cause the exchange rate for CDN to U.S. is crazy expensive. I even avoided this forum so I wouldn't be tortured by all of the enthusiasm for it. Seriously.

I'm looking forward to sharing my experience with a vid or something when it arrives as there are not a lot of reviews out there.

I've been looking at some trees that have interesting bark patterns. http://treebarkid.com/
Found this vid of the Rainbow eucalyptues tree.

The cheap dimmer dial one I have actually works well as an extension. But the wiring and plug ends are thick and don't twist. So that might be why. Never used the dimmer function tho.
Has anyone tried the stainless steel stem they have on their website now? I don't remember seeing it before and it says its a limited edition so I just ordered one. Was wondering if anyone's had any experience with it.
I have both SS stems. I like the smaller version that fits inside the heater but I've always been a 1 hitter type of person.

They cool the vapor for nice smooth hits.
Does the narrow one heat up any differently? I was considering that because I thought it might work well preheated.

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
The narrow S/S stem @CuckFumbustion has the same tip as the NonG so no preheating is required. Just load & go .
Was wondering if there was any sort of heat transference to the stem at all. Thinking of a good preheatable wand. Now that I have a simple tamp technique to fill the wands that fit on the inside holder. They seem to work well with the UD upside down with less hassle filling and packing for me. Level it off, set it in the female socket stem side up and place the UD on top. Already close to the engine. So no mucking with that variable. So.. GTG.:brow:

I'm starting to think my 14mm and 18mm NonGs either heat up and/or pack differently. All I do is straw draw until it is filled to the top. Level it off with my SS tool- No tamping. Set it upside down in my glass piece, and perhaps wait a full minute, depending how long Curly D has been warming up.

The 18mm NonG is the cloud machine maker upside down in my water tool.:sherlock: The 14mm seems fainter.:| Even though I use an adapter with the 18mm which means even more inside volume. :hmm:I've noticed different results with my chew-toy and thick walled glass wand, etc. Which changes the the ABV and vapor density.

The 18mm NonG is the DD. With the Thick glass wand good for more convection whip extraction. So I use that when the UD has had some made toast out of my materials successfully with the 18mm. Would using the 14mm more temper the SS and cause it to work better?

I only leave my UD upside down when preheating and heating. Usually it sits well rested at my desk. The dimmer switch has a flat bottom and keeps the WW's cable from being stretched and turning into a rat's nest of wires. I unplug the WW when not in use.

I'm not sure what would cause the difference between 14mm and 18mm but I have noticed that the stems that go around the heater provide a 'cooler'(lower temp extraction) than the stems that fit inside the heater. I usually crank up my vvps a little when using the 'around the heater' stems. There is some transfer of heat to the smaller SS stem. You can feel it warm up as you use it so I will inhale as I pull the stem out to help cool it off between hits.

...I do the exact same thing and use the wide stems exclusively both direct and thru water...there are times I literally cannot believe the clouds density,..and mass w/ out any irritation...it's very cool and comfortable...as are the fatty glass stems..I love em.
I do use the screen as a platform tho vs. a bucket...I just grommet off the screen position to the load and again from the load to the heater...
Perfect guides.

Does anyone here use the Vapexhale Cloud Evo in addition to their Underdog? Or at least have expierence with both? I like the idea of log vapes. The effiency and aesthetics particularly. I consume by myself up and with several other people depending on the particular day. The log seems to be more fitted for personal use. However, as I own a Cloud Evo I am having a hard time rationalizing why I would need a log or what role it would fill. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

The UD could be kept on throughout the day so it's ready to go when you are. Plus, if you don't have a huge tolerance, you can conserve herb, at least I do compared to using my Cloud +. Keep the EVO for the 'party' situation and the UD for everyday personal use? Welcome to the thread.

I do use both.

I use the Underdog for better efficiency. The NonG's really help me rationalize and I love taking a nice "snap" that's what they remind me of.

I use the EVO for groups & special occasions when I want to get stupid high. The ELBs hold more than a glass stem and you can prepack them.

I also use the EVO always when I get a new strain to taste it. I find I'm able to get a few tasty hit at the top, and then whitewall. The way I use my Underdogs, I get usually 1 or 2 hits with an overall more complete taste, if that makes senses.

I use the dogs more for convenience and effects :) I only bust the EVO out when I know I am not gonna be functional.

Also, the logs are beautiful and I have them on assorted tables and counters around my house. The EVO is something I stash away after every use.

Aimless Ryan

Came to read about grinders; fucked combustion
I saw my home and my empty vape station today for the first time in two weeks, when I fell and broke my leg. Went there with my PT and OT. While I was there, vapeless and weedless, Ohio lawmakers apparently took the first major step in preventing others from experiencing the nightmare I've recently experienced. That is, the first step in legalizing medical use (vaping only). I don't know how to feel. I don't even really know what happened yet.

EDIT: If my room (room 81, 7th floor of Mount Carmel Hospital) was on the other side of the hallway, I could probably see the statehouse. Regardless, I'm only a couple miles from where it happened.

EDIT 2: Thanks to the videos I've made lately, I have lots of footage of my home that proves the police report and search warrant and all that crap was very obviously illegal, and a lot more. I don't want to reveal any details right now, but I think I may be able to make those scumbags wish they had never fucked with me.

I will never call 911 from Grove City again. I am legitimately afraid to, for multiple legitimate reasons. And that may be worth some money. Instead of helping me with my femur that was broken into at least three pieces, one paramedic decided it was his job to search my home. So much more.

Hey Dogs, starting the process of gearing up for the Birthday Sale at the end of summer.. and yeah, it does take that long for us to get things ready lol.

Part of that process is 'spring cleaning' and includes finding homes for a bunch of odds-and-ends Dogs. We've got some Lost Dogs, Shorty Dogs (smaller than normal Dogs but not quite Mini size), Dogs that used to be part of a pair and no longer are, misc Dogs leftover from the 4/20 sale, misc Dogs left over from other batches, etc, etc, etc.

I can pretty much guarantee these are the lowest prices you'll find on regular (non Vape Special) Dogs until December when we usually discount regular and custom Dogs. The Birthday Sale will focus on Vape Specials (just FYI) instead.

http://underdogvapes.com/vaporizers/vapes-available

I'll also be throwing in a couple extra (Direct Draw, Nylon or NonG) stems (so 6 total) with each (non Vape Special) Dog while (stem) supplies last, just make a note of your bonus stem preferences in the order comments.

That's all, nothing to see here, carry on.

@Twiddlebug One of the best moves you will make IN YOUR LIFETIME!
Let it heat up (1/2 hour preferable) Less is more. Air flow is of primary importance.

Feeling the love over here. Thanks everyone! But I'm so old, I can't figure out how to start a new post. I don want to interrupt someone else's again. I've been lurking for a while so a lot of names seem familiar to me already.

I can't believe it, but the UD is at my post office already! That's just three days ... and now the UD shall rise! I will be posting my experience once I get acquainted. (If someone can explain how start a post, please guide me ... I feel soooo old)

RUDE BOY

Space is the Place
@Twiddlebug you can't start a new post/thread in the plug-in or portable vaporizer sections (or the Classified thread yet) but you can in Ask FC and then in the general vaporization discussion section and most areas of the FC community section.

Near the top of the page right under the headers and above the list of threads in each section there is a Blue rectangle(if your using the fc default style to view the page) that says 'post new thread' click on that to start a thread. But if you have questions or just want to post anything you have to say related to your Underdog the best place to post 'em is here on the UD thread where we'll all see what you post since those of us in the "dog pound" watch this thread.

It's cool/OK to post something totally unrelated to my post right after I do as long as it has to do with the UD.

Hope that helps some... Oh And welcome to the Pack, Enjoy your new 'Dog.
