Has anyone considered hooking up their dog through their computer?
Computer PSU's run most of your drives and accessories at 12v.

So getting or making a 12v molex to 2.1mm DC connector would theoretically allow me to run my dog directly from the computer, without using the wall-wart. I'm planning on using my dog mostly at my desk, so it would be the perfect setup for me.

I tried doing a search but couldn't find anyone who's done it. Any thoughts or concerns?

I've done it, both using a PC power supply on it's own (not in a computer) and using one in a running PC.

I did find that some power supplies/computers were sensitive to the Log being plugged/unplugged and that it could cause some PS/computer glitches.

I had best results with and ended up using one of these along with a car adapter for a year or so.

With a suitably stable PS/computer I don't see any reason you couldn't make a direct molex/2.1mm connector though. :2c:

Thanks for your input, I think I'll give it a try. I have some space power connectors and molex cords laying around, so it's worth a shot. I'm going to take a loot at my voltages first to make sure they're not too high or erratic.

Another thing I've been thinking about is high quality power cables for these things. It feels kind of strange to use this beautiful art piece of a vape with such a cheap looking/feeling cord. I've been trying to find some high quality 2.1mm cords, but no luck yet. I want something that feels more inline with high end audio cables or the more vintage braided/cloth style cords.

A nice soft, cloth, braided cable would make me so happy.

I also spent time trying to find thicker gauge braided cables, but with no luck. If you find anything I'd be super interested to see.

My dog arrived! So tiny! They look much larger, even though I can see the size comparison on the site, on the website.

I could not wait, so I plugged him in, using the extension since the instructions said that will save my power cord. I waited 25 minutes before taking a hit...

Whoa...

That was powerful. Also too hot, so I got the body high I was not looking for and it made me cough. Clearly it will take more finesse to get it right. This is one powerful, yet simple, device.

I am very pleased and look forward to practicing!

What kind of stem did you use?

I've been digging for a while but with no luck, and I can understand why. The kind of electronics that use these cables usually don't demand that type of fit and finish from their users. I'm thinking the only option other than settling is to make my own cables. I found some nice metal connectors from jaycar and there are a number of sellers on ebay and amazon selling "vintage" style cloth covered wires, usually marketted as lamp cord but I don't see why it couldn't work for this. I wish I could find more sources for connectors though, as shipping from jaycar is a bit much for how little I'd be ordering.

The easier diy solution is using a paracord and some heat shrink tubing as shown here, but it's not quite what I'm looking for. Still, it would have a much better feel to it than the stock wire.

Nice, glad it arrived in time for the weekend. The new Dogs are running pretty hot these days, if you want to drop the temp more than the (included) extension cord does then a dimmer is a good way to go and is <$10. We've used these ones to good success: http://www.amazon.com/HitLights-Lig...sim_60_16?ie=UTF8&refRID=0VB3PYPGZK8EQS0HD4D3

Yeah I've been looking (off and on) for nice cables for years and haven't really found anything. I have made a few of my own out of nice fabric covered cable but it was thick and heavy enough to do things like drag smaller vapes off the table, etc on occasion. A larger size vape might not have that problem though. Here's the place I was getting cable from: http://www.sundialwire.com/cloth-coveredwiregauge.aspx#category

I can't think of any nice metal connectors since I prefer to use plastic ones but I'll keep an eye out for metal ones for you.

By how much do the extension cords included with pups lower the voltage? is it a reliable change? If its something on the order of 0.1v to 0.2v, using my mobile power bank with the extension could open up new voltage to me since i can only use increments of 0.5v.

Underdogette is finishing up the refresh.. should be up within an hour. She'll post when it's live.

Varies a bit from cord to cord and by length but .1v to .2v wouldn't be out of line for a 10' cord.

I was reluctant about nylon at first, it just wasn't a material I'm used to for smoking/vaping and it seemed unappealing.

But man that nylon/ss glass adapter is incredible. What an incredibly efficient one hitter.

Glad you've seen the light of the Nylon Stems... :brow:
