Do the little pups have the same core as a standard underdog? what is different? Im about to snag one up for sure.

The Mini-Dogs do not have the same core as the standard ones. I'll post the description from the product detail here, so there's hopefully no confusion!

From UD Website:
This Mini-Dog is the size of a shotglass and fits in the palm of your hand! It's got a super low-mass, resisitor powered core, heating up in just a few minutes, and runs on only half the power of a normal UD log vape. As a result, this little pup is perfect to travel with and run from a battery pack. These are NOT for 24/7 use. Please see last paragraph.

The Mini-Dog is a novelty treat (or collectable) for experienced UD users only! Which is why it does not come with any kit (no power supply, nor stems, nor warranty) and why we will verify that you are an UD owner before shipping. (We will cancel any unverified orders). Please use the required text field to help us verify your ownership (you can write in an order number or description of where and how you got your UD vape, etc).

Due to their tiny nature, these vapes will suffer heat fatigue fairly rapidly, and as such, will have a correspondingly short lifespan. While there is no warranty, we will rebuild it for you for a $25 rebuild fee if/when you want. Enjoy!

Hey Dogs, almost ready for 4/20 but a quick question first... We're adding some special vapes to the website that have limited quantities on hand but that I can make more of as needed.

> Should we limit sales of these special vapes to the stock on hand OR should we allow backorders?

In this case backorders would be built and ship within a week.
I think it would be nice to offer the backorder option for once the small batch runs out

Hope everyone enjoys the special pieces! We're going to shut down here in a minute and start up our 4/20 party.. see y'all on the other side.

Is a portable "dog" a possibility ?

Definitely, any UD (besides the new Econo-Dog) will run great with a battery pack and the new Mini-Dogs even more so for short sessions. For someone wanting a portable UD for regular/heavy use a standard model or a custom slightly-less-Mini-Dog would be best. The Minis will give almost twice the battery life compared to the standard.

With a battery powered VK, yes.

The VKs are great that's for sure. I've also been having great luck with my inexpensive (even after adding the batteries) battery pack off eBay though it only adjusts in .5v increments: http://www.ebay.com/itm/221261755654?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Here's a group shot of all my 4/20 participants, excluding the Versa and Hammer. Can't wait for wait to use the mini UD on the drive to work.

In two minutes, I'm pulling some light vapor and can see the core glow. In five its ready play if you haven't been toying with it. Definitely meant for short sessions I can't see anyone wanting to run this for more than 30 minutes. Its not the ideal piece for long heavy hits or fast hits. You definitely do have the super low mass core like mentioned, there is no heat retention. As soon as it gets unplugged it cools down in minutes, in seconds you'll see the core fade.

Can you smell the difference in heat too? Struggles to fill my 187 with long hits like my regular UD's do with ease. However, I'm still getting very nice rips dry. Wouldn't be a problem with a smaller piece or ash catcher I'm assuming.

@paytonpenn have you tried blocking the slits to get a fast hit?

Couldn't finish my order before I got out of the door this morning,on my way to mayo clinic.so I pulled the trigger flying down 95 at about 85 Mph.
I'm sure @underdog & @underdogette will pick out a nice one. I'm kinda thinking the one with big whole, open heart surgery. Lol
As soon as I get to mayo pulling trigger on Chinese Batt. V/k until I can afford real deal. Just for mini...

Whats slits. I get fast hits but vapor goes out the window with that draw.

Whenever I look at when I hit the core is glowing after 8 seconds of inhaling the glow is gone. It hits great with SS tips.

Hi Joel! Your Air Core vape has a 12 volt resistor, not 17 volt. This is the first time that 17 volt vapes have been released. Hope that helps!

Great Scott!
IDK why I don't get updates to JUST this thread. Figured you were all being quiet and happy. I happen to check and theres now mini dogs AND 17 volt dogs? DAMN. I gotta save up and start being a hoarder. I don't know that I NEED a mini dog, but for that price might be nice to have as an option.

The 17v must be crazy too.

Huh, weird about the lack of updates.. on the bright side it probably saves you money. :brow:

Keep in mind the heating element is sized to match the 17v power supply so it's not as crazy as you might imagine though it is pretty hot. I'd say it's probably comparable to a regular heating element (resistor) Dog at 13.5v to 14v.. so right near the edge of combustion.

@underdog can you recommend any battery types for that voltage controler.
And what's a good voltage for mini pup?
And why is 17v pup for newbs easier to get vapor?
Would it be good for concentrate's?

I got the good unprotected Panasonics for my ebay battery pack and they seem to run good, lots of power. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C26OWGS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

For the mini Pup I think most people will find 12v to 12.5v to be a good spot for the intended SS tipped stems (Nylon and NonGs). The minis aren't really meant to be used with glass stems but can be though it might require a little extra power. We don't recommend that though because the heat will tear them up even faster with the voltage higher. I think @paytonpenn is our resident expert in pushing minis to their limits (or beyond lol).

Re: the 17v Econo-Dogs - It's not so much that it's easier for newbs, they just run hotter than a normal Dog which most people new to vaping seem to like as they transition from combustion. I'm sure experienced users would like them as well, they just need to make sure they keep that 17v power supply way far away from their normal Dogs as it'd wreck them.

As a bit of backstory on the 17v Econo-Dogs: A year or two back I bought a big lot of oddball power supplies (17v ones) that I didn't have a use for but just couldn't pass up because of the price. We used some for the fairly short lived UD VVPS project and I've just been sitting on the rest ever since so I decided to spec a heating element to suit the power supply and build them into Dogs until I run out. Since I got such a great deal on the power supplies I was able to run the price lower than normal and let you guys benefit as well. Win-win. Once the power supplies are all gone we'll either close the book on Econo-Dogs or adjust the heating element back to suit 12v and raise the price a bit to adjust for the more expensive power supply. :freak:

Hey everyone,

Long time lurker and just got around to creating an account. I've been looking around for a quality vaporizer for sometime and finally decided that the Underdog fit the bill. I picked one today made with European Plum wood and can't wait to see it in person. Everything I've been reading about the vaporizer has really got me excited and I'm looking forward to sitting down with it when it arrives.

So my question please. I see that it takes some time for the vaporizer to heat up. Has anyone tried using something like this in conjunction with the UD? I would think it would make preheating much more convenient, but I obviously don't want to lose power or have to wait even longer for it to reach the appropriate temp. Any thoughts on this?

Many thanks and keep on being excellent to each other!
