Underdog Log Vapes

I apologize if this question has been answered elsewhere. :)

I'm a very happy UD user, but am really wanting to do some kind of water filtration. I've found that since quitting smoking, I'm really noticing the dryness involved in vaporizing. I've done a little research on here, but most of the suggestions for water attachments have basically involved travel beakers or flat-out bongs. Are there any more discreet options that would work for the UD (or even an Arizer Solo)? I've seen the Aquavape pieces that are supposed to work with whip-type delivery systems...I'm thinking something like that. Basically, I want something that could be stored easily. I have a kid and really don't like having obvious paraphernalia lying around. However, I medicate multiple times daily and don't like having to deal with setting up a whole mess of stuff every time. That's exactly why I like the UD...it's discreet, always out, always on, simple.

Are my hopes too high? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, guys. I hope everyone is having a mellow night. :)

I think this would meet your needs. It is high quality and only about 5 inches tall. I don't have one, but wish I did! Folks here have picked them up for about $95 using the "place a bid" option.

Can't get too much more discrete than my Flex Glass Mini Rig (female joint). All you need is a WonG.

The SSFG Travel Beaker works great with the UD as well, and is only 8 inches.

Does anyone here just load a fat stem and then take hits from it all day rather than loading a small bowl each time? My situation is such that I have to keep my herb locked up and it's a real pain to get it out each time, but I do have the option of keeping a prefilled stem in a much more accessible place, so if it doesn't sacrafice efficiency by doing it that way it'd be much more convenient for me.

In the opinions of people on this forum, what are the benefits and drawbacks of packing multiple bowls per day versus just packing one big bowl?

Ideally, your herb would degrade less sealed up in your stash. But it would be so minor, I wouldn't worry about leaving a bowl out all day if that's what your situation calls for. You could also put the little stem cork on to cover up your bowl if you are concerned about dust particles, or something.

New package in the mail today . Backup power supply on deck, and a brand new Koa Stem! It's not one of the tapered meant for water use (already have one of those) but holy shit. Dogette had mentioned that it was an iridescent (sp? looks wrong) piece but I wasn't quite expecting the shine. Not sure if this was an especially awesome piece or all of the Koa turns out like this, but it's kick ass. And it's more ergonomic than the straight wooden stem tapered down. I dig it.

I'll try to sneak someone's camera later, mine is a POS that won't come close to doing the stem justice.

@ Chinaboy and loading fat stems - that is actually what I've been doing. It takes a good 2-3 stems to get me up to par, but at the end of that I usually have some left over. I use the small cork that came with the 'starter kit' that came with the vape exactly like Peloton mentioned. Once I'm good, I just plug it up, tuck the stem away in a drawer, and come back to it when I need to. It just saves a lot of emptying/filling/packing repetition through the day. I also feel like a little more herb in the stem helps to block the hot air and pull the product a little further along. Just be careful not too scorch it or get too hot - it's not exactly EASY to combust but it's still a possibility, especially with fuller loads.

The only advantage of small, multiple bowls VS one big one is that you can achieve slightly more even heating with less stirring.

However, if you have it down where you can move the herbs around and extract a sufficient amount, then go for the more convenient large bowls :)

Myself, my ideal UD bowl is packed just enough where you don't see ANY of the metal screen. It's probably around .05g-.08[gram]!

Hey Dogs how are all your Sunday going?

Things going smoothly here, had an UD stop by this morning and visit for a bit which was nice.

Just finishing the last 5 Pups for the coming refresh, still waiting on those damned screens to come in and then we'll be ready. :freak:

Hello all!

I've done some searches on this thread and I haven't found anything about temperatures for vaping kief. I have a MVPS, so changing the voltage isn't a problem. Does kief have to be vaped at a higher temperature?

I tried this afternoon at 12v and I didn't get much vapor. I also noticed that it seemed pretty difficult to draw.

Thanks!

I wouldn't pack more kief than around 1/3rd the length of a fingernail. Put too much in and it will clump up and restrict it real bad.

But you definitely can do kief by itself.

This video was with the original stock power supply(not variable).
It says 13.5V but I think that might be lower on a VVPS..13.0-13.4 maybe?

SD_Haze, thanks for the information. That sure was a lot of vapor being produced through that bong.

If the voltage should be up to 13, I was definitely doing it too low. I will try it higher next time. And I did notice that the kief was clumping up and restricting airflow, but I had packed it down as well. I'll try it without packing next time.

Glad to see I am not the only one cranking that VVPS. My usual voltage is ~12.6-12.8. End up a nice deep chocolate brown. Chinaboy - don't pack it down, but try to leave some air space between your heat port and the top of the keif. I've overpacked and ended up wasting some because it gets stuck to the heater and just burns off in the air. Such a waste:\.

For the life of me, I can not get this new stem to photograph well. Definitely my new go-to though.

Dave, any right angle adapter cords for the power supply? I've noticed where it plugs into the unit ends up twisting/warping and I'm thinking maybe that's why my last supply failed. Who knows. But, seems like it would be easier on the electronics to have the plug on 90deg so it can hang straight down.

@ thg - We have both 90° extension cords and 90° VVPS cords but I notice that neither are listed on the website.. guess they never got put on after the server transition, oops. Will add them along with the other stuff soon here. Price wise they're the same as the non-90° cords so in the meantime if someone wants to order one they can just order a standard cord of the type they want and indicate in the comments to make it a 90° one.

Looks like the screens we've been holding the refresh for have finally shipped today so I should have them in a day or two. That means we should get the refresh (finally!) up this weekend along with the newer items mentioned previously, etc.

I know what I'm picking up next re-up for screens/stems :D.

'new items mentioned previously' -- Did I miss something big? Or is this the updated model you hinted at earlier?

Well... Right Angle or Straight Plug has been an option for the extension cord. I just added this option to the VVPS cords as well.

For anyone who's buying a vape with a VVPS and wants to switch out the straight plug for a right angle one - they'll have to specify that in the comment section of the order, otherwise it'll just be too many options to require Underdogs to fill out when trying to order a vape. Hope that helps!

I usually vape kief at the same temp as weed, but atthe same temp it does get a bit darker. so if you want the same color abv I would vape it at a slightly lower temp.
make sure that if you load kief the heatport won't compress it as you put the dog on, and as mentioned earlier don't load to much. both can lead to it becoming compressed and hard to draw through. and i it still gets compacted, after a few hits for example, just stir.

My "Sleep Number" for flowers is ~13V, and for bubble on cotton it is ~13.5V. The bubble on cotton is "Whoah".

i want to check if the power supply is acting up, but the only other one i have is a switching adapter... would it be a problem to use it for a little while... the dog seems to get cool randomly and heat up again randomly lately..

INPUT:100-240V
50/60Hz 0.5Amax
OUTPUT: 12V----------1250mA

Randomly cooling/heating usually points to a failing power supply, unfortunately something that's all to common these days with the quality of consumer electronics in continual decline.

That being said you should be able to use a switching adapter (12v) with the Dog just fine, though it probably won't get it as hot as the stock power supply and if used for a long period of time will be hard on the power supply.

thanks for the quick responses shredhead and underdog...

i wanted to test another power supply but the Switching Adapter is the only other 12V power supply i have in front of me...
also the plug is more wobbly than i remember, not really loose enough to fall out though... but i have been watching that close for about a week now and still can't keep the heat consistent.

i'm gonna go test that switching adapter then and see if it balances out... i think the UD power supply is pretty old by now anyway
