osage orange. dave mentioned a while back that it ages to a darker color, and with my twig that's definatly the case.
My HI is from the same kind of wood, it will turn out beautifull like yours after a few months.

yes if I remember the differemt cores correctlyWow djonkoman that Pup has really darkened, not just from aging either you can really see the heat affected zone as well.. it does look really cool, thanks for sharing! That's one of the original 24/7 cores too huh, not one of the insulated ones?
yes I think mine is a year old now, I now I got it in january or so(after christmas and new year)My HI is from the same kind of wood, it will turn out beautifull like yours after a few months.
Unfortunately I can't do that Crohnie or you'd be the first to have just such a cable. The problem is the vape you're talking about is a high-voltage AC (well, 120V, so relatively speaking that is) type vs a 12-13v DC type for the UD so it's not just a matter of the cord. I have a prototype UD of that style (from long before our days on FC) but ended up going with the classic 12v DC resistor design in the end. All that being said revisiting an AC model design is on my R&D list for this year so keep your fingers crossed and maybe we'll get there. That being said I think there's pros and cons to both types and even if we make an AC one we'll probably still make DC ones as well.. just totally different creatures.
so what are the general pro's and con's of the AC vs DC set-ups?
Nice refresh! IMO this is the coolest group with the most variety I've seen yet. There's even a Dog made from Lignum Vitae!! Lignum Vitae is the hardest, heaviest, most dense wood there is. It is also VERY rare and expensive. Both Black Walnut Dogs and the Rustic Black Oak Dog are g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s! I'm a sucker for dark wood. Hmm...just noticed that I used "sucker" and "wood" in the same sentence.
I really like the bocote twig lost dog, it's gorgeous. I can't tell in the pic what makes it a lost dog. Is just a small scratch? I might have to pick it up.... Edit: is it the crack below the power jack? Will this compromise the integrity of the wood or is it just cosmetic? If it's purely cosmetic I wouldn't mind some character, I just wouldn't want it to crack after a year or two.....
As a side note the way the orange Osage aged is really cool. What other underdog woods take on different characteristics as they age? Can anyone enlighten me?
