Underdog Log Vapes

here for the chicks
For most, I'd say its only necessary if you vaporize a lot of hash

Sorry mate, but I have to disagree there.

There are several benefits to be gained from temp control. You can tune it down a little to reduce throat irritation for instance, or simply to make you bowl last a little longer, or because you're using other herbs with different temperature needs. You can also turn it up for more/quicker CBD release or just to have thicker fatter hits. I also vary a little per strain/weed quality to still get consistent results.

I think every control freak out there should have one, I really can't imagine using my logs at an equal 12V any more.

So do you guys think ill be fine without a VV for a while? I haven't gone looking locally yet and im hoping my dog can satisfy my needs for a while without. Maybe someone has a video without a VV? I thought i read that they run at 13.5v off the normal power supply. Correct me if im wrong?

I would say try it for a few weeks and if you think you need more juice, buy one. You can adjust the screen depth as well to get more heat to the material. I've toyed with the idea of VV, but never had a problem with the stock supply so I save my cash. It really comes down to personal preference and until you try, you will never know. :2c:

you'll be fine(actually, way above fine, high in the clouds), but once you do get a VVPS, you'll notice the many benefits it has and will never go back.
dave has said that the stock adapter provides 13.25-13.75(depending on the local powernet etc, can sometimes even change per outlet in the same house apparently), but if you live in europe it's different, since the stock adfapter with europlugs provides sometimes closer to or a bit under 12 volts. but even living in europe I was satisfied for months with that lower temp before I finally got a vvps, I just couldn't blow out big clouds, but I got plenty high.
but I'm glad I did get a vvps eventually, it provides more flexibility in temp, for example sometimes I come home and don't want to wait too long for it to warm up so I set it at 14 volts for 10 minutes to warm up quicker. and some strains give more throatirritation on higher temp and so are more enjoyable on a lower temp.
also if I vape weed, I often turn down the temp at night(to 12,6-12,8), so that the effect is more high and I don't fall asleep while watching tv(wich happens surprisingly often, especially on fridays when I have a lack of sleep build up troughout the week)
usually I keep it at 13-13,2 for weed(but sometimes 13,4-13,5 if I want big clouds and/or I don't have much time but still want to get a nice high going before leaving to a party or friend's house or so)
for hash my usual temp is now 13,5-13,6(and not different temps for nights, since I mostly vape nepalhash wich is high enough on this temp)

and an extra added benefit of the vvps is that it has a display with volts+amps, and if the amps are 0,00 it means the UD is not connected. so if the plug slides out a bit for example, I immediatly see it's not making a connection(with the stockadapter I sometimes had that I grabbed the UD to vape and it was suddenly cold because the plug slipped out a bit)
and a nice long cord, but ofcourse you could add an extension cord to the stockadapter too.

I use the power supply that came directly from Dave - I have had no problems, my dog is like a f*cking chimney - personally I couldn't imagine giving more juice without puking after every pull! In my mind it must be like giving an ax murderer a chainsaw.

the need for a VVPS is definitely determined by situation. when i was still at college the stock power supply worked just fine and was able to get my ABV to the darkness i wanted. however, after i graduated and moved back home, only 40 minutes away, i noticed a pretty big difference in the power. at home, i could just get to a golden/still bits of green type of ABV so that's when i pulled the trigger on a VVPS. like others have said, you should give it a week or two with your dog when you first get it to determine your decision.

Ya i think ill wait till i play around with screen depth and such first. Rock my dog as it was meant to be, then immerse myself in VVPS log vape heaven

Exactly - do what works best for you. Sometimes when I read through pages here I look at what other people have and feel like my equipment/collection is inadequate - its almost like walking walking through pottery barn and realizing that you need to go home and redecorate the house...hence why I have about 10 vaporizers collecting dust in my laundry room - take it from me - find what works for you. My wife makes jokes all the time when I bring things home, she says - "let me guess, that's the best vape ever!" Damn VAS!!!

I always suggest people give things a shot with the stock power supply first.. for most (maybe 80-90%) it ends up being all they need. Of course once you have a vvps it's hard to go back to not having one but that's a different matter lol.

Just brought some more B-day Pups in from the shop in addition to some high-end pieces: Spalted B&W Ebony, Amboyna Burl, Indian Rosewood, Dyer Oak, Blue Mahoe.

I use the stock power supply and vape hash almost exclusively. It works fine. The thing I don't like is power waste. My twig seems to waste a lot of power through heat dissipation. When I use the little copper cup for oil, the oil evaporates within an hour or two. The power supply itself gets warm too. It would be nice to keep it on a lower temp and turn it up for a few minutes for a vape session.

However, call me an art snob but a big device with digital display kinda ruins the elegance of the log aesthetic, IMO. It's quite tacky. I That's why I am opposed to the vvps and cannot support the use of one. Good day sir.

i have 3 different 12v power supply adapters and suprisingly found out that each has a slight difference in 'top heat' level. maybe 'small' difference but definitely enough to make me consider switching to the hottest one when i am looking for maximum heat. blazedrunner said the vvps is "a big device with digital display kinda ruins the elegance of the log aesthetic", yes, unfortunately for some of us but any new user should certainly play around with the UD first before considering any moding.
