Tornado by Vestratto

Big and Bouncy
I reached out and was told no free shipping due to postal strike and using postal carriers instead.
Argh! This postal strike is killing me. Week 3 and counting.

I'm waiting on a beautiful rosewood BFG long stem along with adapters from Scruffy to use with my precious Tornado. These items, along with a shiny new Bowle 2 are probably in a Canada Post warehouse not far from my house.

That kind of nagging imperfection would bother me for the price. I don't mind waiting for a fix or different model.
I hear you. I think if there was a fix he would have done it surely. Feels like it's just the reality of having so much heat mass.

If there is a fix, we have no idea how long it could take. Tough choice.

If you’re waiting for JV to magically turn a corner and become the most customer centric, feedback driven people pleaser on earth, don’t hold your breath.

It’s clear he listens to no one. He makes the things he wants, the way he wants. If you want it another way, find it somewhere else.

There is nothing wrong with this device. It's no wonder Vestratto does not participate in this forum. Some of you guys need to just stay on Reddit.

This thing is a atom bomb the size of a chapstick container. There is nothing defective about this device. It is a feat of engineering that anybody that actually uses it would agree with.

@ScruffyWoofers I noticed today that the adapter o rings supplied (Tornado end @ 8mm x 1mm) are for my Tornado at least just a little too big because I'm now noticing that the o rings are being shoved/stretched out of the adapter o ring recess when inserting the adapter into the Tornado. I happened to have two 7mm x 1mm o rings that are working perfect. Tried the 6mm x 1mm o rings supplied but they were not snug enough fit wise between adapter and Tornado.

Anyone else with the adapter noticing this?

It’s a jacketed copper thermal battery with a cavity protected bowl and a narrow vapor aperture. It’s a small evolution on shit he’s already made, which is well within the stream of all the other devices that all the other people make.

I have it. It’s good. I like it. It is neither special relativity, nor general relativity. It is a device that is well made, by someone who doesn’t care about any feedback from you. If you like it, buy it. If you don’t, don’t.

Totally agreed, I have never felt the need to shake the tornado around and listen to the click disks lol. I use it to vape weed.

Heat lock is also not an issue if you follow the advice to back it off a hair, the bowl doesn't rattle, it's the click disks, if the bowl is rattling you have backed it off way too far.

But the way I see it, leaves more stock for us :brow:

Both my discs and the bowl with the slightest looseness rattle but I never noticed it until I read about it and tried it myself. Not a flaw at all as far as I can tell unless having to back off bothers you. As others have suggested it may be unavoidable with the copper's expansion. What I'm curious about it why the variation in the neck joint? Why doesn't it fit just like the Anvil does? I don't really intend to use mine on a stem but I haven't seen an explanation.

In any case it's a pretty sweet vape. Definitely does the job!

That's funny, because I presumed the overly defensive, toxic, sometimes straight up bullying I've seen in Vestratto threads were indicative of Redditors crossing over.

Because I think you will find discussing a vapes positives and potential drawbacks/improvements are extremely charactaristic of FC in general.

Vapes are not football teams. I have multiple vapes. I don't need to pretend a vape is perfect in order to buy it. So I will patiently wait for my Tornado delivery while hopefully hearing honest feedback and discussion, including doubts.

Planned obsolescence would be my guess, to separate the product line between the Tornado and Anvil, this is capitalism after all :D
I believe it's an engineer's tunnel vision and focus on the technical solution, which is an impressive one. I believe that's what tripped Vestratto up with the Forge too. Electronics is such a different ballgame. And it needed to do all kind of complicated things. That's a tall order to get right. Same with the joint to the WPA. I honestly think they were only focused on the device itself and kind of forgot this requirement as development and then prototyping progressed. I'm in a software development environment and this happens all the time.

That being said, it would be fantastic if John would consider collaborating with Camouflet to develop a dedicated head for the Tornado that can plug into the Inductor power supply. Fingers crossed.

I stuck my Tornado on an OG Anvil stem. Not ideal, but there are already adapters and there will be people producing other stuff for it too.

And I don't mind too much, because to me, it's just a brilliant device. It suits my style and needs so well. Must say, I could only unlock its potential fully with the Inductor. Tornado shines most when it gets lots of power.

I also think John just doesn't take consumer cost or compatibility into mind as mentioned above either, hes pretty affluent so he probably couldnt care less about the customer perspective of buying another WPA or stem, but if he did would we have ended up with a worse product? Who knows.. all I know is what I have in my hands completely satisfies what I require from a DHV (SOMEHOW) more than the anvil did... and the smoothness of the vapor screams medical level quality.

I encourage anyone who hasn't to read through the original Vestratto Sunday Post's to do so, it will give you a good insight into how his mind operates.

Lol. That sly dog!

This is what I guessed, so hopefully that's something that will be fixed. Maybe the aftermarket adapters will be less necessary than nice cooling stems.

What is interesting is it seems the beta unit Whiff was given had a neck that was short enough to fit existing USA and anvil stem, but the versions shipped in 420 orders had the longer neck.

Pictures from around October from Whiff on Discord of the tornado fitting on the USA and Stem, which mine doesn't.

How it fits on my USA:

From the pictures the external of the neck looks almost the same size, so maybe he had a different USA or stem? Or the internal dimensions of the neck were shifted?
