Tornado by Vestratto

So Vestratto got back to me. Offered me 10% of my next order instead of retroactively applying the code. I think this was a good compromise.

The reply took awhile, but it is the black Friday shipping period, so I think I was being overly harsh before. My apologies to Vestratto.

Thanks @ScruffyWoofers for getting our adapters in the mail so quick, I already got a shipment to Australia for a few of us.

I'm really, really enjoying the Tornado on the Revolve Gen 2. The airflow options of the Gen 2 compliment the Tornado so well, and IMO the quick heat up of the Tornado makes it so suited to being a portable device.

I do think the o-ring grooves needed to be the tiniest fraction of a mil deeper - the whole set up is too tight on both ends of the adapters, the o-rings "bend" out of their groove when you put the Tornado and/or Revolve stem on it, which is ultimately going to end up mashing them. It seals, there's no wobble, it functions exactly as it's supposed to - from that perspective I'm friggen stoked!

But it's going to be really hard on the o-rings if you want to use the Tornado on both the stem and the WPA, or if you want to use your Revolve Gen 2 with multiple device heads on it.

Lubricating the o-rings the tiniest little bit made it much easier to seat the tornado and stem into their respective sides

Hey, thanks for the feedback. I will slightly increase the depth of the O-ring retaining grooves accordingly. If you're finding that the O-rings are getting torn up, you could try using NBR (nitrile) O-rings in place of the FKM (Viton) ones supplied, as these have better abrasion resistance.

Santa came early this year, his name is @ScruffyWoofers. I just had my first native Tornado bowl, it was truly as gorgeous as this stem looks and feels. And now please excuse me while I kiss the sky 🧚

Looks really great!
*sigh*

I would've been enjoying an early Xmas too but the Postal strike didn't even leave me a lump of coal in my mailbox. 🙁
At least I know the stem experience is good!

Has the community reached a consensus on best practice for cleaning in the short time the tornado has been out?

I can’t be sure, but I suspect there is some build up of material behind the screen that I can’t reach with qtips

I think I remember reading somewhere about how soaking isn’t necessary. Idk how it would affect the o-rings and I don’t want to be taking them on and off so I’d rather not go the soaking route out of convenience anyway

So far what I've been using is a pipe-cleaner soaked in iso. I fold it up a couple of times and push it up the stem and it can reach right up to the screen.

I never use screens. I too use a pipe cleaner + iso. One of the beauties of the Tornado is that cleaning it is so simple.

Appreciate the advice about using pipe cleaners. Luckily for me I already had a stash of those on hand.

Sorry, I’m not sure what you mean when you said that you never use screens
You’re not worried about pot falling out of the bowl at all once it’s threaded on?

I tear off nugs, never happened that way. My anvil is screenless too

Can you reinsert the screen? It’s in there pretty good. Thinking I might mangle it too much :shrug:First couple bowls with the inductor have been awesome btw
I've managed to remove and replace mine a couple of times without messing it up. Just try to push it with something as wide as possible to even out the pressure. Maybe warm it up a bit if it's stuck in there with residue.
