I contacted them since my Forge got bricked and fixed to see if i could use it with the tornado since it got fixed. They told me not to use it with the tornado till they do the recall. So not sure if the first fix was not enough or they gave me a generic answer.

Just wish they would communicate a timetable but it vestratto so they went radio silence after the last post.

If I remember correctly, yours was thought to have been bricked from overheating while using the Anvil, and was fixed before the recall issue was confirmed or diagnosed. I heard they're hoping to be able to start shipping the replacements within the next couple months or so.

I placed my order on 9/26 and got tracking info last Thursday. I thought I'd be seeing this on Tuesday as there's usually no mail service on Remembrance Day, but I got a rare Sunday Canada Post delivery:
tornado1.jpg

On inspection, I immediately noticed the larger WPA hole. In this pic from top to bottom is my older 14mm WPA, the new Tornado 14mm WPA and the older 18mm. I had another older 14mm that was identical to the one on top as well.
tornado2.jpg

Does anyone know when they made this design change? Definitely going to do some testing as I'm curious to see if there are any performance differences between the two.

Also, this is completely nit-picking and has no bearing on anything of significance, but I prefer the look of the black o-rings over the newer brown ones. Outside of the larger WPA hole, that was the other thing that stood out the most.
tornado3.jpg

I haven't been watching this one like I did the Anvil and I wasn't really sure what sort of heating technique to employ. I think I recall seeing something @Whiff posted a while back, but not too much else. To be honest, I wasn't as excited for this one as I was with the Anvil and my first impressions are sort of in line with that. Similar to my first Anvil session, I decided to record my first use of the Tornado. I weighed the bowl at 0.18, coarse grind, no tamp other than to press my finger on the rim of the bowl to flatten the material poking out. Effects were great, vapour also seemed to be thicker than what I produce with the Anvil using the same material, but I think putting in about 50% more in to the Tornado bowl probably plays a not-insignificant factor in that as well. My heating technique definitely needs work as my first couple of sessions had a much darker roast than I prefer and I haven't really noticed the smoothness that people have been mentioning as a result. I've included a link to my first Anvil session too. Both videos are timestamped to when I start to inhale, so playing them simultaneously can give you something of a comparison.

Nice vids! Really showed the thickness of the vapor.

I read someone say that going through water would undo the atomization of the vapor, which would undo that smoothness. I'd try it without water and see if it feels different.

Appreciate the tip! I'll give that a go tomorrow with some clean glass. I probably would have taken a few weeks to get to the point where I'd even consider doing that.

Sort of related, I recall reading somewhere that the older, non-integrated stems might be compatible with the Tornado, but it doesn't seem like mine is a seamless fit. I've got the airflow valve down as far as I can get it, basically in the wide open setting, but there's still a gap. Just in case anyone is trying to hunt one of these down as a solution while they wait for an official stem:

remove the air valve and it'll fit.

Thanks for this, I really enjoy the detail oriented nature of your posts and the added media to give a visual idea of what you’re talking about. It’s interesting that the first wave of owners were talking about this as if it was a real upgrade on the Anvil, whereas most of the owners coming in now seem more along the lines of it being fairly similar to the Anvil in terms of performance.

I am so conflicted on this vape. I can never quite silence my VAS about it, but at the same time there’s not that obvious game changing nature to it that the Anvil and owner comments gave off so strongly. It’s been a much quieter launch with a much wider range of opinions.

I know I’ll end up with one just to know for myself what it’s like, but I think this purchase will be more “well I suppose I’d better try it for myself” rather than the excited anticipation that I had when ordering the Anvil.

If you put aside the atomisation, which some people might not notice, you are left with it essentially being a big Anvil. To some people that doesn't offer huge value. You can see this in how many people choose to do small bowls with it.

Personally I would love a big Anvil, so I'm really excited.

Not the first time you've written a post like this. Only thing I can say: try one, and you'll know. Coming from the Anvil, I've had to unlearn most of what I knew about that vaporiser and it was my daily driver

I'm not sure why people get so defensive with me. I can't wait to pick one up. I was just answering the post above me. As I said, I won't know about the atomisation until I try it. But it doesn't matter because I would love a big Anvil regardless. Not sure how people see this as a negative attack.

I'll give you a hint, I got mine today and I could see with the first oven why people keep pushing back on your insistence that this is just a big anvil - and it has nothing to do with any possible changes in effect or strength per gram either.

My point is more that, if it's just a big Anvil, then that is amazing. I'm not sure how that isn't coming across.

it could be, that if you liked the Anvil for what it is, namely a heavy hitter capable of complete extraction in 1 heating round, you'll like the Tornado.

If you didn't like the Anvil, this Tornado may not enchant you either, as it retains the basic and strong principles of the Anvil, with a few subtleties added (in size, alloy, 2nd atty...). Not a revolutionary product, but an impressive evolution of the Anvil.

As for the expression “big Anvil”, I remember, maybe wrongly, that it was expressed pejoratively at first “oh, if it's just a big anvil..."

Anyone feel free to scour my comments. Anytime I said it was a big Anvil, I said that was awesome. Which it is. It's a big Anvil. That's why I want it.

Do we really have to pretend we want it because of an atomisation effect that might be subtle to an individual user?

I want big Anvil. Big Anvil good.

EDIT When I get it, maybe I'll be converted to thr atomiser, and think it's the main draw. But we can't expect people who haven't used it yet to care much about that aspect. I think an even bigger draw is how it has such a big bowl, but has the same heat up time as the 0.1g bowl Anvil.

i think it’s the know-it-all tone you write with without having the device yourself. You ask questions like we don’t know what we’re doing

I'm shocked how few of you are actually filling the bowl. The large bowl kind of seemed like the whole point. Is everyone just intimidated?
