Tiny Storage Containers

Hey storage pros! I have recently developed SAS (Strain Acquisition Syndrome) and now have dozens of strains but they are all in 1g mini-zip baggies. I am on a break from cannabis so need to store them for several months, and possibly 6-12months. I usually use 250ml mason jars for ounces, and 125ml for 1/2's, 75ml for 1/4's, but I need something that will be good for 1/8th's and 1g's that is cost effective since I am sitting on such a surplus ATM.

Should I just keep them in the little zips and put them in a mason jar with boveda packs? I was hoping for very some very small 1-2g plastic containers but haven't had any luck with PV, PIU, and some other retailers. Was wondering if thinking outside of the weed box may help...maybe at a craft or hardware store? I just wanna be able to store them nice and organized, label them, without the buds degrading.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Zips leak air over time. Mason jars with Boveda packs is the way to go. Keep your stash in a cool, dark, place. Depending on cure, occasional burping may be required but don't sweat it. You can always go with metal canisters if you wish. Their advantage is they don't break like glass. More portable. Also more expensive.

Thanks @t-dub ! The problem is, I can't have a few dozen tiny mason jars with only 1g of bud in each. So was thinking about just putting them zipped in their little baggies in a jar with boveda. I know it's not ideal, but what else can I do? There has to be something out there for tiny storage that isn't super expensive?

I do exactly as you say for 1/4's and up. Actually I will even use the small size for 1/8ths, but not for just 1g, as I believe too much "space" in the jar isn't good either...too much air I suppose. I have seen o2 packs as well...is that a good idea to add with the boveda pack?

What about something like this?

Have you looked into the @JyARz storage options? They're tiny, air tight, and glass lined

Perfect, but way too expensive for 3 dozen strains lol I guess I may invest in some though for my 1/8's..

for the single grammers, i'm not overly concerned about having the perfect storage, so perhaps those space vacs or other containers i posted should fit the bill.

O2 absorbers could help, honestly I have never tried them with anything but storable food, but its an interesting thought.

The zips in a larger container with a Boveda will work. Like I said, the zips are more gas permeable than folks would like to believe. That means you could store lots of little zips in a larger glass vessel, utilizing proper head space, with a large Boveda pack to keep RH under control. My only reservation about this approach would be flavor transfer between the zips.

Precisely... but a sacrifice i'm willing to take. The grammers aren't super high end connoisseur level buds, so not too concerned, but the 1/8's and up I want to be perfect due to the quantity. Thanks again for your advice bro!

It was @Squiby in another thread mentioned the o2 packs + boveda w/ vaccuum sealed jars.

Any time my friend . . . happy 4/20 . . . :leaf:

Edit: Thinking more about the O2 absorber . ... . first thought, if you open up the jar just a few times then the O2 absorber is spent. Very short life span on those. Basically they are just a rust, or oxide, reaction which pulls some O2 out of nearby atmosphere and generates a small amount of heat as a byproduct. Its the same reaction we use to make hand warmers.

This one's easy, get 5 or 10cc Centrifuge tubes. Plenty cheap, air tight, secure cap....what's not to like?

Like these:

BTW, most versions have a roughened spot to write a label (like strain name?).

Thank you! Looks i'll like pickup a 100! lol Only thing with those might be the diameter for some of my grammer nugs, but it's not really an issue to break them up I suppose.

You guys are fricken awesome! One thing I never do on this forum is start new threads, or ask questions in Ask FC, because of fear of not reading/searching enough or sounding stupid (wish that would stop me from posting in vape threads lol), but that's gotta change because the the speed and quality of responses here is off the hook!

Bless you all my friends! :peace:

I use Doob tubes , love them , i think @OF had put me on to them in the past , amazing for different strains , i keep them color coordinated and usually grind up what i'd like to use for the week in them. - https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=doob+tube&rh=i:aps,k:doob+tube

Busted again.....should not have used my real name when I came to town...... PV sells them as well.

They hold maybe twice as much and cost several times more, but do a fine job as well?

Almost all the dispensaries I know have moved to ziplock mylar bags. They are dirt cheap, easy to store and label, and seemingly smell-proof.

These kind of bags: https://www.amazon.com/Mylar-Ziplock-Storage-Silver-100pcs/dp/B018I0SWLW

The top shelf stuff is still sold in glass jars, but I've kept strains for almost a year in the mylar ziplocks and they work great! No noticeable degradation or smell leakage

Thanks @JoeKickass ! Many of my 1/8th's come in those professionally, so I can just let them be! Just need to get the cooljarz for the 1g sizes, although i've read that they are only good for a couple of weeks in there, and not longer term. Maybe i'll pick up some of these mylar bags! Thanks for your post!!

EDIT: Found this! What do you guys think?

Why not look at 20 or 30g makeup jars? Wide mouthed & a cheap enough

Thanks man, I was leaning on the side of glass after reading negative reviews about the cooljarz due to plastic smell. I think I may pick some of these up just for fun, although they don't mention the size of the 20g? I assume it would be good for a gram or two?

What about a prescription pill organizer?

I don't think they are air tight? Do you have a link? Thanks!

Thanks for that, but is it airtight between the individual compartments? Looks like one big seal all around.
