The Thunderbolt 202 is an untethered, coil-heated metal-free ball injector coming in fused quartz (potential European manufacturing TBC!) and the obligatory high-tech ceramic...

The TB-202 leaves behind the inefficient and problematic side-heating of fitted coils, while remaining true to the metal-free airpath required of my designs.

The TB-202 does not require a custom coil, coil stretching or fitting.

Uniquely, the TB also works with most standard 19mm AND 14mm adapters or injector bowls.

The same injector will work properly with BOTH 19mm and 14mm bowls without using a one-size-fits-all nozzle (as seen in some nails and bangers) which would compromise performance, and WITHOUT using a very shallow joint which would endanger the piece...
The injector fits with the bowl securely- there is no need to hold it in place. The heater balls are held securely in the injector by highly perforated (non-metal) screens at both ends.

Like its torch-driven brother - (Quartz Thunderbolt, made to order), the TD holds enough heat to thoroughly vaporise the contents of your bowl without the need to reheat (depending on amounts and inhalation speed) and without the need for a coil attached to the piece.

There is no need to buy a special (and expensive) coil or controller. There are no recommended coils or proprietary deals- anything that works will work.

Bare bones fused quartz injector (with gems) expected to cost €170. High-tech ceramic version: pricing TBC...

This design is the pinnacle of evolution in injectors and offers unmatched versatility and performance.
The metal-free airpath delivers the purest possible flavour and the quartz balls added to other balls in the heater energize your vapour for maximum effect.

PM or post here to express your interest. Photos of the quartz and possibly high-tech ceramic prototype will be posted in the next few weeks.

I would have preferred to wait until I have those photos before this announcement, but here we are... I will not bore you with a drawing of a tube!

Stay tuned- stay untethered :)

I have just seen the quartz prototype and things are looking good... It should be here for testing in a week or two.

The TB-202 is a machined item and will be produced in a small batch rather than made to order as in the case of the largely hand-made torch-based Quartz Thunderbolt.

The *hi-tech ceramics* factory has OK'd the design and I'm awaiting for a quote for a small batch.

I will only post a very quick peak of the functionality until pieces are ready to roll. More details will for now be sent via PM to interested forum members.

I want to sell what I can before the thing gets copied so there will not be a lot of detail revealed here until the project is really rollling.... Everything posted in the OP is for real! This project represents significant time and money investment and would not be happening if it did not have new features not available elsewhere..

I am really excited about the results of yesterday's brainstorming session!

I have solved a major conundrum with the design to simplify manufacturing and produce a more durable, versatile product. This may also potentially enable the quartz manufacturing to be done here in Spain without a massive price increase...

The "hi-tech ceramic" HTC version will take a little longer as I'm just learning how to deal with the Asian factories... The concept is cutting edge and I am waiting for the material to actually materialise!!

Hey folks.

After some pretty interesting testing I am pleased to announce I finally have an impressive 25mm coil-powered quartz prototype (no metal screens) working with the performance I was looking for :)

There are some very cool upgrades to the usual injector tech here, some of which are mentioned above, and there are no gemstones.

I can confirm that the TB-202 is Dab Ready-Ready!
(If you have a Dab Ready and are interested please PM)

PM for details and links to videos of working prototype if interested....

Videos will be posted here after the first batch of 10 units is ready to roll out.

I will (unless otherwise requested) keep a tab of who has bought from me and offer discounts in future projects and upgrades in the pipeline and generally try to make it worthwhile for people to stick with the designer that did this first and not opt for a lesser imitation.... hot metal tubes filled with rubies will not deliver the delicious purity and buzz of quartz and the performance of the material used for the TB-202 heater core, and any quartz copy would have to be pretty exact to match what is offered here.

I cannot even recover the cost of time in R&D poured into this project with the first batch!

Early adopters will get discounts on accessories to come. More of the lovely double wall glass bowls in both 19mm and 14mm, as seen on the Quartz Thunderbolt thread, are in the post.

The guy I have is sloooow..... help me out and get a great deal !
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-The "HiTechCeramic" TB-202 version is on hold - both factories OK'd the design to then turn around and say they are sourcing the unobtainium!

I have to get back to testing- it has been exhausting. The cloudy video I just made disappeared in the Android void and I have to shoot another one but a man can only blast through so much herb in one day...

People who think that the 14mm injector will help them save weed might have to watch out as this is really quite more-ish! :)

After a lot of thought on coil compatibility I have decided I will have to offer the TB-202 in two sizes:

-A standard version to work efficiently with the standard 25mm axial coils widely (and cheaply) available : 710 coils, Disorderly Conduction, Graveda, b2cvape (AliExpress) etc; The Graveda controller and coil I am using cost €80 and is quickly rigged up with a pipe cleaner and two ceramic coffee cups to hold it in place. (these are just two cups I found lying around and not part of the product!) Notches can be cut into the rims of the cups with a diamond disc, to further stabilize the setup, but it works fine like that so long as the cable is not likely to get pulled accidentally. The kevlar sheath can be flattened on the table and it will tend to stay in position once settled. Nothing should touch the coil or the stem very near the coil.

IMG20230402183328.jpg

-A BB (Big Boy) version to work efficiently with extra deep coils such as the $299 Dab Ready.

Old-Head-Dab-Ready-with-Coffee-maker.jpg

Both versions will come with 19mm and 14mm bowl compatibility.

The BB size will work with a standard coil turned up to almost maximum temperature but it would not deliver the efficient performance I am aiming for.
The standard size may just work with the Dab Ready with an easy adaptation- TBC.

The Dab Ready seems to be a pretty neat (*but expensive) device and uses a twice-as-deep coil, which means more power.

I would only buy a coil machine that has an automatic shut -off timer.

The Graveda coil controller uses about 70W and is likely lower power than the Dab Ready- so these devices will increase your electricity bill if left on 24/7 and it is just not a good idea for the longevity of the device. Idling at a low temperature is probably the optimal.

The TB-202-Big Boy  may be the largest all-quartz injector around; certainly the most powerful/ longest heat retaining!

This lack of standard coil sizes is unfortunate (for me especially) but I have no control over this coil business... The depth of the Dab Ready coil requires an injector that is much larger than really needed (when designed properly) to totally roast a full 19mm bowl.... but perhaps may be the ticket for heavy users wanting to mix flower with concentrates!

I am currently getting more solid interest in the TB-202 by Dab Ready owners so If i cannot produce both sizes with the first batch, then the first batch is looking like it will be the BB version unless a bunch of PMs comes in now to ask me otherwise!

I am sending the order to the factory by end of this week so now is the time to let me know what size you would prefer...

Please pre-order to help this project take off!

For those wandering what all this is about- it is about obtaining effects comparable to vaporising oil, using only flowers, while actually tasting the full aroma of your flowers. Whereas other kinds of vapes will deliver a light but flavourful vapour at first, followed by denser but harsh vapor after, the Thunderbolts will deliver both flavour and vapor density in one mouthwatering inhalation.... This may sound like marketing blah but I am offering these vapes because they are really really good, and are the only thing I use at home- the money is not looking great here!

The Thunderbolt 202 requires no technique once you have found your preferred temperature so there is very little learning curve.

These vapes are simply the best vaporisers for herb in terms of vapor quality and speed of delivery. There are no hot spots, un-vaped herb , no wispy hits- just consistent and thorough vaporisation of whatever you put in your bowl, producing dense enough vapour to satisfy chronic smokers!

The effects of these vapes are on another level because of the rapid delivery and vapor density (as well as the quartz) and they are simply the best you can currently get if you decide you no longer want to inhale through hot metal.

Metal vapes or vapes using metal screens in the heater core are a-plenty and easy to make....

Smaller all-glass vapes exist but they do not deliver this kind of effect from bud -and glass is not quartz. A quartz piece will last you much longer and perform better as quartz has significantly higher thermal conductivity than glass...:myday:

I want to see this thing, but it's a fucking riddle your thing lol.
I'm not really convinced by the quartz... for the performance of a bead vape.
Titanium and zircon will always perform better man.
Change material sir

Zirconia was chosen because of its thermal similarities to quartz. Quartz is actually still ideal from a performance perspective despite being a bit more fragile

All you got to do is ask !

Some more tidbits: The TB-202 slides in and out of those coils smooth as butter- heat up time of the standard size is no more than 5 minutes. If using the 14mm bowl, the thermal mass can be reduced, reducing the heat-up time.
The handle is designed to minimise thermal losses and mechanical stress on the quartz.

There is another version in the pipeline using maybe this or that material but it isn't going to be cheaper :)

Both quartz and zirconia will take the heat of these coils- zirconia is physically tougher but the thermal properties are similar.

Also, I have now been firing my Quartz Thunderbolt 0.1 prototype with a torch at least once every day since end of December and there is no sign of wear on the quartz...

Pictures would help. I think he was asking for pictures, maybe videos.

What sets your pure air path apart from the pure air path of every other ball vape out there? Seems like it's just another ball vape from my perspective. But I haven't seen any pictures or video so I don't know

Yep, as soon as the first batch is in, there will be a video.

The main difference here in terms of functionality is that the vape does not have a cable attached to it, you don't have to worry about coil fitting, and you don't need to buy a second injector to use 19mm or 14mm bowl sizes.

In terms of purity- there is no metal in the airpath. So it isn't any more pure than the Zaroma or Qaroma and cannot be- but here you don't have a coil wrapped around a fragile head- you could even heat the injector on any sufficiently hot surface.

As for materials - This is based on my research. I stopped looking at what other people are using.

Hi Mister Haze, just had a thought about wanting my Ceroma handle to be able to be detached from the cable for a "wireless" experience... and I found this thread!! 😍

Please do put my name down for pre-order if not too late!

As for size, I'm medical, up to about 2~3g daily, so not exactly the heaviest of users. I guess on that basis I should go for the standard version. I'm pretty happy with the normal sized Ceroma at about 580~600f (found out today I can make the PID go Centigrade!).

Thanks!

Hey there. I am still a few pre-orders short and super busy with real work and life so ETA is not fixed.

People who go through 2-3g daily are definitely within the target demographic for this :)

A bit more on sizes.

I have now confirmed there is no standard 25mm axial coil depth. I have seen so far 3 different coil depths: about 13mm (as in the Graveda kit), about 17mm-19mm (Dab Ready) and around 22mm.

The BB size will cover the Dab Ready size and will be the only size for now- similar size coil with controller can be found for less than half the price if you want to make your own base for it...

Controllers cost up to $150 but can be found for less than $100.

The controller from the Ceroma kit (or any other e-nail PID controller) will work with the right coil.

Coils can be found in the US from @710Coils ( who is also in this forum), Disorderly Conduction and others. Speak to the vendor about your controller so they can wire the coil correctly. Outside the US, if you just want to buy a coil it looks like you have to order one from the US or China (Aliexpress, b2cvape- about $35 for a custom BB-size coil). Of course some vendors of overpriced kits will not tell you how their controller is wired to prevent you from buying a coil from anyone else.... Do not give them your money.

More details via PM :)

Great info here and in pms. Thank you.

To be 100% clear:
You supply the head, handle and balls (and optional bowl and base.
We source the coil and PID separately?

If so and as I’ve already got a Qaroma PID - their coils come in 20mm and 30mm, which size would you recommend?

I have contacted b2cvape to see if they can make a deeper coil for the Graveda. The Graveda coil is a bit too short for the BB size (17mm-19mm deep) injector so it needs to be run at a high temperature to get good results.

The kit from Recommended Vape Supplies looks like it has the same coil as the Graveda kit, which is the shallowest 25mm coil around so far... If you are going to buy a full kit you may as well buy one with a deeper coil (no real price difference) unless you know you don't need to vape big loads.

The factory will not do variations; I have to order a batch following a single design and the deeper 17-19mm coils as in the Dab Ready and the b2cvape kit are the ones that will work best for the size being made. The shallow coils will work if run at a high temperature setting (near the maximum).
