Discontinued ThermoVape Evolution

The Evo in its standard configuration doesn't work well for a few of us (me included), requiring one to put the mouthpiece directly into the top of the Evo core, and either not using the delrin insulating sleeve (which makes it all to easy to burn yourself), or modifying the core by cutting off the top and the built in UFO.

just pop the UFO out of the sleeve and run a dome screen on top of the herb. its not necessary to cut the sleeve at all.

It doesn't work as well (for me) to just remove the UFO from the sleeve. I actually ordered two extra sleeves from TV with the UFO's not installed (TV even included them loose in the container). The absolute best experience for me with my Evo is to use an extended delrin mouthpiece with a UFO pressed in it going directly into the Evo core, with a modified sleeve on the outside to prevent me from burning my fingers when I'm too medicated to take care of myself.

Note that I made a typo in my previous message (since corrected with an edit). Where I said "or modifying the core by cutting off the top and the built in UFO." I really meant sleeve, not core. No one should cut their core. :)

I ordered the SV Rev and Evo Cart can't wait to get it. I'm going to be using it mostly as just a portable vape so if I can get a couple of decent bowls I will be happy

I haven't heard of people having to make any mods to the Evo but I haven't really read much of this thread hope I don't have any problems, and how does removing the insulation help doesn't it help keep the heat in

Don't assume that you'll have any problem at all with the Evo. There are only a few of us that felt it "necessary" to make the mod. Try things out the way they were designed to be used first. And expect the best. Really.

There have been extensive discussions in this thread about the modifications. I suggest you first check out the tips for getting the most out of your Evo/Revo, rather than the mods you can make. I know the threads are long, but you do have a little time before your package arrives. :)

I just ordered a DART. I came into some PureGold this past week, and I've never done this kind of concentrate. So I've been skimming and re-reading the Revo thread.

Search is also your friend. If you're interested in the sleeve stuff, search this thread for posts by OF (who had a nice discussion about the effects of an insulating sleeve). Jam and I first started talking about alternative methods of using the Evo, such as putting the mouthpiece directly into the Evo core, quite a while ago; you could search on my posts or hers. Or search on the keyword "sleeve".

Or just read/skim through the whole thread before it gets to 100 pages. :)

I sent an email last night to TV with a request to make a "universal extender/adapter" that would act as a "middle man" so that all mouthpieces could be used with all devices, as well as providing some cooling distance...

Greetings-
Could you guys machine up an extender piece, made of the high-temp PTFE (i.e., capable of being used directly with Evolution), about the length
of the extended mouth piece, or whatever works given these requests-
- have it be capable, at both it's male and female ends, to allow anything to connect to it and be functional (e.g., UFO mouthpiece).
- open bore.
Use cases
T1 -> extender -> UFO mouthpiece
T1 -> smooth-flow -> extender -> UFO mouthpiece
Evolution (unsheathed) -> extender -> UFO mouthpiece
Revolution -> extender -> Pure-flow
etc.

I like this idea as well. While I can use the Evo in its' "standard" comfiguration, I personally prefer using the "UFO PTFE" mouthpiece directly attached to the Evo core. However, the PTFE mouthpiece gets VERY HOT by the end of my load. If an extension isn't possible, what's the chance of adding a 'longer' UFO PTFE mouthpiece to the ThermoVape lineup?

BTW, I am also wondering if the slight ceramic rattling in my smooth flow mouthpiece is of any concern? I have two smooth flows-but only one rattles. I've not been able to find a response to this question in this thread (or in other TV-related threads) but I often miss the obvious (lol). TIA for any info.

With the extender idea I had you could put a smooth flow after it, and hopefully that would help alleviate over-heating issues at the user's end.

use case-
(unsheathed) Evo -> directly attached PTFE extender idea -> smooth-flow (or any other mouthpiece)

FWIW, I've got a rattle in both my smooth- and pure-flow mouthpieces.

Agree-the extension idea would seemingly allow for the use of any TV mouthpiece and might prove to be a 'handy extra for the tool kit'.
Re: smooth flow rattling-it doesn't seem to interfere with the intended use, so I'm not overly concerned at this point (unless the ceramic comes completely loose). Thanks again.

We like the Universal Extender idea... wheels are spinning.

A little rattle in the ceramic is normal/no issue. The goal is simply to trap the ceramic, but not to put any compressive force on it.

It will be good to go, just as it is. Forever.

Cheers,

Great Scott!
An interesting update on my rattling smooth flow. It was replaced with one that rattled. That very same one now doesn't rattle at all most days, but every now and then does. It seems as though something is expanding and contracting but what and how?

Its been working fine and doesn't seem to break off at all. I'm happy with it just curious at this point.

You might have seen my post in the Revolution thread but I found the 510 extension also dramatically improves the lv evolution: warm up time is shorter, performance is incredible, and battery barely warms up...

I'm sorry if I missed this in a previous post. I just saw the AC Power Supply for the T1. Is there going to be an AC Power supply for the Low Voltage Evolution?

They are currently working on sourcing a reliable 12V DC Adapter for use from a vehicle, as well as a Low Voltage Adapter for 3.7-4.2V vaporization. No ETA right now.

Burning your lips like the mouthpiece is getting too hot? Try a smooth-flow filter or extended mouthpiece to space it out and cool it down.

Or burning your throat from the hot air? You could try a smooth-flow but flower vapor is always a bit harsh, I would try concentrate vapes if this is the case.

The mouthpiece burns my lips and it's very uncomfortable, I understand that it gets hot but I find it unusual that burns me, right?

I have been planning on getting one of these and I had decided on the evo LV. When I saw the coupon code posted the other day I went to order one and couldn't find the lv model on the site any longer. I had even saved the link for later and it says product not found or something similar. Will it return? If so; in time to use the code?

I guess I won't be getting one :( at least not with the discount.

It will get hot if you pull enough hot air thorough it, that's how it heats your herb to 400 degrees a fraction of an inch away, right? It's a matter of degrees (sorry, couldn't resist....). The harder you pull and the less time you leave between hits the hotter it will get. As has been said, longer mouthpieces will help but most guys don't want the extra size.....we tend to pace ourselves instead.

The very nature of the machine (over hot heat core, convection to vaping temperature for use) means they all are basically the same in use. I'm confident your's is is not abnormal.

I guess I won't be getting one :( at least not with the discount.

I wouldn't give up all hope. Provided you can stand the wait, I bet TV will run another holiday 'customer appreciation sale' before fall..... As a piece of advice, next time you can't find what you know should be hidden in there somewhere on that web page, contact them directly?

Meanwhile, I guess the rest of us will just have to keep testing for you? No need to thank us, I'm sure you'd be doing the same for others were the situation reversed....

speaking of cooling, just thinking, but some type of extendable sleeve like those found on drill bits so you can allign your screw, would make an excellent heat shield if a custom one was machined that could fit to the bottom, close to the air holes, maybe o-ringed like the current sleeve is. Then when needed, the user would slide it out twice it's size and have that extra heat insulation from the element.

Ced, with a lot of vapes people tend to add tubing or some other kind of attachment to make the vapor cooler when it hits the mouth. If you've got some tubing or something equivalent lying around you can make use of that.

I might just have to use the 10% FC discount when I see it available again. I'm not very good at waiting. Need to get one to help with the testing; it's not fair that you have to do all the work. :spliff:
