You may want the illuminated switch now...to buy it later is at least double the price!

Hey Tweek,
Wondering if you ever found out why you do not still get to keep the original switch?
Just seems kind of odd.

When I inquired about buying the switch separately they described quite a few parts that came with it, and a hefty price of around $75 bucks if I recall correctly. So my best guess, is the straight swap is cheaper to do, hence you only get one switch.

@jam foreskins lmfao. They did say they will do colors and stuff and it would be reasonable.

Tweek I didn't say them the switch would go up. It is $25 and if you get the regular and then add it alter same price. Unless you think it is cheaper by getting it off the bat so you won't have two but the price is the price.

I really would like the option to have a non-illuminated cap on. I checked the website and the SS lit up caps were listed at $25, so I feel I can hold out for a bit, see what other accessories they come up with in the next couple of months.

That's the thing...it's only $25 dollars if you upgrade now. Later on, an extra switch will be $75 from what I was quoted.

Thanks, good to know. Makes a little more sense too.
Somehow, a mysterious 2nd connection into the unit must be part of it.

PS.
Now Dreamer, you need to get out of the gutter. Your standing on my head. Go ahead and ask for an assembly demo.

Pipes,

I'm not Tweek, but if I were to guess, it would be to keep the cost down. In one of the videos Noah said that the illuminated switch was custom made for TET-this can't be cheap? Might have been $25-50 more expensive if you got an"extra" rather than an "alternative"???

Edit: Boy you guys are fast. Thanks.

Agreed and with more parts involved, some of which might have to be incorporated into the main body and not just the end cap with switch. Might be also possible that once the body is rigged for the illuminated option it will not work with the normal.? Regardless, I'm sure there is a reason as TET is trying to keep our costs down from what I can see. Good stuff.
Thanks,

What are you missing to the assembly? He's taken the battery/switch off, screwed/uncscrewed the core(s) and put the mouthpiece on. Unsure what else there is?

You guys are hilariously demanding. Demanding to know why you can't get two switches. Needing videos of every conceivable type of usage scenario (we forgot about how to use loose leaf w/ keif sprinkles while skydiving upside down!) Needing them to provide someplace to store your cartridge. no wonder mfgrs get scared off.

Well I suppose they will chime in with an answer after they are done playing with the cera to make videos. That is if they can see the screen anymore. My understanding Tweek is that the prices won't go up but if you were told that directly that is new info so I guess they can clear that up as well.

The switch issue isn't really about the price going up or anything. It simply means that if you want a second switch, it will cost you $75. If you do an upgrade at time of purchase, it's $25 extra (you only get one switch). Reason being, with a second switch, you are paying for the components...it's made of stainless steel remember.

Edit: This is what you get when you buy a switch separately: "Entire switch assembly (stainless steel), housing and battery spring."

In that case, I wonder what a non-illuminated switch bought separately in the future will cost (for those who get an illuminated one now).

I still don't get it tweek. Ok most companies give you a discount when you purchase stuff together. From your comment that is what they are doing unless you are saying the reg switch is 50 bucks and for an extra 25 you can have the illuminated one instead. Which would mean for an extra part it would be 50 after order for a reg and 75 for the one with the light. That makes sense normally but you can get an extra switch for 25 as well I believe now. So in reality you can have two switches for 50 bucks and ask them to make one of them the normal one. I am missing some logic somewhere.

It's probably in how the switches are assembled. You probably can't just swap the front piece, without all the internals that power the switch, thus the cost. When you upgrade for 25 bucks more, than you can probably assume the standard switch is 50 dollars, and the illuminated is 75 (50+25 upgrade).

So no, you wouldn't be able to get two switches for 50 dollars.

The first switch is included in the $250 price. If you bought a second, normal switch - I'd guess it's 50 bucks. Upgrade it first go-around, and the base Cera is basically 275. Want a second, lighted switch? It's $75.

I think it's clear that TET isn't giving discounts from their posts.

On the other hand, I wonder if it would be possible to temporarily disable the illumination in the lighted switch should one want to.

They mentioned it a while back, that profit margins are slim. They won't be offering discount codes anymore either, so we all pay the same price, pre-order or not. You will probably see more bundles in the new year I imagine.

Yup, basically that's it. The mouthpiece and cap pull off, the cart unscrews, the endcap likewise and then the battery falls out.

Pretty simple.

How is the ceramic fused to the metal? I'm guessing maybe notched in or crimped to snugness? Or some crazy thermal super paste :whoa:

Which ceramic 'fused' to which metal? The only 'fusing' I can think of is the glue holding the SS ring the tailcap/switch screws into on the body. AFAIK nothing else is attached other than by screws.

Thanks Tweek that clears it up. If we are all wrong Noah will correct it.
