The first three that shipped all have a scheduled delivery of 4/20! We'll see if USPS keeps their word! The top mount and the two red/yellows ones on the right are now off the list!

Vapor Loop, I sent you a message, please get back to me ASAP so I can get yours out!

Only two more to ship after that, the tinted black unit and the one going overseas! Haha, at this point it's almost not too hard to guess which of the 7 I made for myself.

Don't miss out @Vapor Loop

You made it simple math for @Nugg 50/50 for others, I'm guessing it's next to @Snappo that should cover all the bases!

Really looking forward to hearing about what people think of the internal batt model. I'm afraid I sorta cut the line by purchasing a beta version through the Classifieds for what was, as I eventually learned, a fair price. We'll have to compare differences!

I'm definitely interested in the charger for it - that's something I didn't get in my transaction. But I'll be getting one soon enough with my next VK purchase - another Small and Tall (Works). Once I get all my HIs and TTs from Alan (hopefully by the end of summer), I'll have logs and VKs in every prominent room in the house! Gonna smell so good that folks will think that I shit roses up in here.

It's a bit too big for me for "every day" usage - that honor belongs to my Small and Tall (The Works) model. The thing is just adorable.

But I really like my internal batt model. I use it when I go down to the pond and read comics and feed the feral cats. Word must be spreading since there seems to be more of 'em every damn day. Cat Man, they'll call me...

Sometimes I'll just use it on the couch if I'm all wrapped up in blankets and don't want to get up - or risk spilling fried okra chip crumbs, or god forbid my third or fourth or fifth beer of the evening. The house cats certainly *don't* prefer this, since then they can't steal my warm spot...

I have found it to work as flawlessly as any other VK product. Tough to say what's a safer, more solid product - the VK, or the HI? Too close to call!

They ain't cheap, but seem less expensive than you'd expect from a product built to stand the shitty ass test of time, and with impeccable customer service as a nice little bonus.

Right you are!!! When you consider all the time and R&D that went into these beauties, they are a steal at this price!

Currently only have one new battery VK order since the first batch was completed, so if you want in on the 2nd batch, you'd be 2nd in line on said batch. Although, the 2nd batch likely won't be shipping until after all my non-battery VK orders are out, so that's the next mission, complete all the regular VKs now! That list is unfortunately a bit bigger, probably 5-10 orders to get through right now.

Also, now that I've got some notion of a complete parts list for the battery VK, I will start regularly keeping the parts specific to it on hand from now on, I've even got a vendor for the batteries that's been pretty consistent so far, so the next batches should hopefully not really be any different than a standard VK order in terms of wait time. All and all, it's finally come together, it will likely go up on the website soon too, I'm still not sure what the final price will be once it's up on the website, but, it's likely going to be more than everyone just paid for the first batch. It's definitely the pinnacle of the VK product line at this point, well, unless I ever make the battery vk nail!

So I got this cool looking box but seriously no instructions? How bout some do's and don'ts? Also is it supposed to spin a billion times to go up one volt? Seriously, you got to put some kind of instructions bud, I don't feel comfortable just winging expensive electronics with no warranty. I'm guessing on the warranty bc their is nothing but electronics in my package, no paper. Also you mentioned banana clips to run multi dogs, with this setup. All I recieved was a battery charger cord, an extension and power cable with my battery VK. It is fun to look at but c'mon man...

The knob is a multi-turn/10-turn knob, so the behavior you mention with it is correct.

While we did discuss a cable like that was possible, I went through our conversation history and you had never actually actually asked me to make you one nor paid for one, so this must have been a mis-communication somewhere. I can certainly still make such a cable for you if you'd like, I'd need to know how many you'd need (minimum of 3 for 2 devices.)

I post all my instructions and warranty info on my website at this point in time. Maybe some day I'll have custom packaging and warranty slips and the like, but I'm not some big time manufacturer, and I apologize if anyone gave you that impression! At the moment it's a one-man-show with all products being one-off and built-to-order, and definitely targeted more towards the do-it-youeself-er kind of crowd, but I do try to be very responsive to any questions.

However, I am working on an FAQ specific to the battery VK, it's a work in progress, it will go up on the site hopefully sometime this week:

Battery life is usually around 4 hours, give or take.

You can charge it and use the VK at the same time, but you must only charge it with the included battery charger. It will not charge very fast when you do this though, and may not charge to maximum capacity either.

You can also disable the battery completely and just run it off DC power like a standard VK. When the battery switch is turned off, for all intents and purposes, it functions as a standard VK, and is powered purely from the DC input.

When the switch is turned on, the battery is then enabled, the red LED light will turn ON, and the unit is also then able to be charged. The VK switch operates independently of the battery switch and when turned on, the screens will light up and the VK part will function as expected.

The included charger has a light that turns from red to green when the battery is charged. However, if you are using the VK and charging it at the same time, this light will likely stay red, as the VK will always be drawing power, so you will need to turn the VK off in order to know if the charge is complete. You can also monitor the battery voltage using the middle switch position of the VK, a full charge will typically read around 12.6v.

@SSVUN~YAH - as taken from the VK website: "The input port will act as a charge port. The second switch is to enable/disable the battery, and the red LED that illuminates accordingly when the battery is turned on.

I still can't find instructions on website. Also didn't know if your warranty on site applied b/c your not selling these through your website, thx for clearing that up.

A simple note with info that Snappo posted is a good idea, could even write thanks or something, if ya wanted.

Mine is turning on, but that's about all the luck I'm getting it seems. The unit drops wattage to 00 at 12v through the batteries. Got to spin the thing a full revolution for .01v increase. I thought it was a much larger voltage range? Something is wrong man.

@SSVUN~YAH - I believe I understand it's usage pretty well, but don't want to risk confusing you or anyone with poorly stated instructions. I did find some good specific info on the VK website ...see if this helps: http://www.voltagekeeper.com/faq/
"How does the voltage readout work? The VK is equiped with a 4 digit screen for increased accuracy. The power switch has 3 positions total, “off”, and two “on” positions. The first “on” position shows you the input voltage, which is useful if you’re running off of batteries as you can monitor the battery drain. The second position is the more standard voltage output readout, which shows you the output of the device as you’d expect.
  • How does the amperage readout work? The ammeter is setup to show the output amperage of the connected device. Unlike the voltage readout, it is unaffected by the switch. When the ammeter shows 0, it means no power is being drawn, or your device is otherwise disconnected. Most devices used with the VK will be less than 1 amp, so it is typical to have a reading like 0.40 or 0.50, this would be equivalent to 400ma and 500ma accordingly. You can calculate the wattage by multiplying the voltage of the output by the amperage displayed on the ammeter.
  • Why is my unit displaying 0V output voltage? Generally, this is the short-circuit protection kicking in. Check your cables and make sure there’s no problems. If the cable is fine, then the other reason for this is that you’re trying to draw more current than is being input into the device. If that’s the case, try using a higher amperage power adapter or battery. In either case, once you’ve corrected the situation, turning the unit off and back on will reset the protection circuit."

This is not the first time the triple switch has confused someone, I really will try to include a note about that from now on, especially on the battery VK where the one switch is actually two position and the other is three, that is definitely not the most intuitive thing in the world. Glad you got it working though!
