Wow, one single word can really derail a thread, huh?
I looked through bubbler ideas that people have posted in this thread and others. Below, I've listed some of the bubbler ideas/parameters that I've come across. What do y'all think?
- "good, thick, sturdy" glass -- what is "good"? does it need to be made from german glass or something? ; how thick is "thick"? 2mm? 4mm?
- small/short -- stealth; lower cost; minimal filtration needed; 5-7" tall maybe? taller if the mouthpiece is removable?
- GonG -- 19mm preferable over 14mm, unless it's a Dewaar? female joint preferable over male? is one option less expensive to make than the others?
- inexpensive -- less than $100 (yeah, I know--tough to accomplish--but proven to be possible)
- diffusion -- nothing too fancy to keep costs low; what is the best cheaper functional diffusion system? non-removable downstem? removable downstem? showerhead? disc perc? (i have no idea myself)
- clear glass --- to keep costs down (but leaves the option for the blower to make more $ by adding color for people who want it)
Also, I think I may have found a local place to talk to some blowers….
I would honestly talk to some blowers or anyone you know who does glass. I feel like this is the best way to get exactly what you want and of course you will be satisfied with it as well. It is also nice to support a local business and amazing art :
The only issue is that it may be hard to fit the bill but never be afraid to ask about blemished pieces too, I have always had good luck with that

I'd be interested I think they'd sell, and be well promoted by members here.Would need some interest though
You know already what I say about the other points you mention, but I can help with this one in particular:
Good glass = Schott/Duran, EU, Simax, or Corning/Pyrex. Schott being the best and Pyrex the worst.
Thickness starts to feel good at 3mm or more for a 50mm diameter tube. 5mm is gorgeous but hard to work.
Our hydrator mini uses 50mm X 3.5mm Schott and costs $90.
I don't have much time but I'd love to make an FC bubbler pretty much the same as our hydrator except for a fixed showerhead downstem and FC logo. Would need some interest though and an OK from FC.
IMO that little addition, gridding those slits, would improve airflow and diffusion a lot , am I wrong??I'll find out. thank YOU

I like the idea of bare glass. Count with me.Yes they would help make the bubbles smaller and send them out in different directions. The glassblowers I work with tend to bug out when I ask for things that make their life harder or make the part crack during production. But it seems really simple so I'll suggest it
As for the price of a bubbler... basically, if it's made in a small batch just for FC, it will cost more than a production piece, but my guy estimated somewhere at or just below $100 for this:
A bubbler just like the VB Hydrator Mini, except minus the sandblasted artwork (just would be bare glass), modified with a showerhead on the downstem.
To put a fancy FC logo on it I'd need some help from someone to buy the decals. Few hundred bucks for a minimum order.

What a hilarious idea. And what a great way to twist vtac's arm to get him to agree that this is a good idea and that VB should make some bubblers that say "Fuck Combustion".Yeah.... the "Fuck Combustion" would be nice. Normally I hate logos, but I'd make an exception.
Hell, I'll even pitch in to buy the first one off the line for vtac. If we get 10 people, it'll only cost us $10 each. Who's with me?
Thanks, NewVape. That's 2 of us so far. Placetime? You in, too?Heck I'm in for $10 if it'll help this along. The glass market needs more product like this. I'm all in favor of helping fill that niche.
Thanks, OTA. I am hoping that vtac will approve once he gets buttered up with a dotanted bub.I like the idea of giving Vtac a token of appreciation for all the work he does here. You can count me in if it's for one with a FC/FuckCombustion logo. I think he should have a say in how it (the logo) looks like if he decides to agrees with the idea though.
