The Tempest by Mad Heaters & Phatpiggie

A few questions if I may?
How did you clean it when you first received it?
What did you use in it, have you used that in another vape?
How did you use it - flame or IH, and how did you apply them?
How was the taste and smell when you used it?
1. First IPA ultrasonice bath then rinse with water then water ultrasonic bath and then I dried it.
2. Self Grown yes I have used it many times before in my pax mini.
3. IH I used the adapter and followed the instructions on madheaters website then I promptly reduced the temperature setting to 250 C.
4. Taste and smell was well amazing (didn't notice anything different)

I also showed it to a friend that used to work in the metal industry he said it might be some residue from the machining that corroded (he used german terms I didn't really undertstand and can't really translate) and that I should just try to clean it out as good as I can (Q-Tip and IPA) and it shouldn't return (as long it's pure titanium).

Looking at it from a taste and feeling side, it's definitely a significant upgrade to the DynaVap.
I think I'm gonna have to say it's even a significant upgrade from V1 of the Tempest. Only been playing with it two days now, and it is a noticeable improvement. Especially at the low temps for flavor. I got a flavorful hit that really surprised me. I've got maybe a dozen DynaVaps of various design and vintage and I love them. But the Tempest is just a lot more vape.

Oh yeah, sorry, kind of forgot about it with all the rust paranoia going on :D
First of my experience so far using Vaporizers has been that I have a pax mini and I tried different DynaVap products with friends I also once tried the Tempest 1.
I don't have the ideal settings down yet (using a wand for heating), but the hits where I got it mostly right were pretty incredible. It felt like I could really taste the Terpenes the mouthfeel of the vapor was also fuller in a way (it's hard to describe). I also really like the handling and design of the Tempest it's a really well made product especially side by side with the DynaVap.

Design, manufacturing and handling of the device are barely comparable. The Tempest just feels like a properly finished product in every way where the DynaVap feels like a work in progress.
Reading this it sounds like the DynaVap is just some cheap low end product, but on its own the DynaVap is still really good and if I already owned one I don't know if I would make the jump because the DynaVap still is really nice to hit and tastes really good and is still a quality product.

You mentioned that you value the terpenes when consuming, so if you have the money and you really want to upgrade, I'd suggest getting the Tempest. Tastewise, there is a noticeable difference, although it's not as drastic as the jump from a joint to a dynavap.

Anyway, these are just my thoughts after testing it a few times, and I wrote them down kind of unstructured. I hope this helps you in your decision-making process.
Thank you for the detailed report. It all sumps up that I need a tempest - sooner or later. But as you stated, that the difference is not so big as from joint to vaping, I may wait until next year and keep experimenting with my BallR until then.

Went out today and brought an 8th inch flathead that gave me more leverage, but I still can't get that screw undone. Looks like my head setting stays fully open for now.

That's odd; from your description and experience that would appear to be worth contacting MH about for possible defect claim. Mine didn't really need much force to initially loosen (it's such a tiny screw and head, how much force can one exert?) just a clean fit which the end on the spiral cooling stem provides. I'm sure your screwdriver provides an even better purchase on the head so if it isn't budging something is amiss. Now even though I can get mine loose I still don't really understand the adjustment process so I can't tell you what you're missing.

last resort I would try:

put 1 drop of wd-40 on the screw head and stand head upright to let it soak in for like 10min then try to unscrew it.

of course clean the head in iso and do burn off regardless if u get it to move or not.

I recently received my v2 tempest and I have no idea how to adjust the airflow of the stem. I also don't understand how to detatch the bowl from the stem or the mouth piece where the cooling unit is. I have tried turning and pulling but the components are not coming apart. I don't see on their website the instructions for this on the v2. I tried searching this forum some but there is so much content and I have not found anything yet. I am trying to detatch whatever components to clean the bowl, stem, and mouthpiece. Like how am I supposed to access the metal cooling unit.

It's probably simple but I don't want to break anything by pulling apart or twisting pieces that I shouldn't. Hoping some one here can help. Thanks

I'm new to the V2 as well but I believe you loosen the mouthpiece (by twisting it), set the airflow of the stem, then screw the mouthpiece back on. The bowl IS like a Dynavap tip, attached with 2 O-rings so you can pull and twist it out.

Just loosen the mouthpiece, don't unscrew completely or it will come out.
And pull the head at 2. The knurled part at 1 is part of the stem and won't come off.

Was it there when you first got it?

It seems a handful of Tempest 2 units, including mine, don't provide two clicks (only one click) - mine is one of them. I just answered this a couple days ago, but I don't really need the audible clues for effectively using it. I bought a Tempest 1 in the early release early last year (maybe 2023? I forget), so I am very comfortable using it. You'll get comfortable pretty quickly too, especially if you're using an IH. Once you dial it in, you can easily get away with a single click, the VI, and a feel for it.

If you want two clicks, there are ways to disassemble the head and make sure everything is correctly in place, but I wouldn't worry too much about that yet unless it really bothers you. Also, the cooldown click happening 5-10 mins after you've set it down isn't unusual.
Mine w as like that too. First only, one click and the cooldown click took minutes, using a Reload magnet. But after using it for a couple dozen of bowls a second click emerged and the cool-down clicks take 10-30 seconds at most.
