Hey guys, has anyone else had some trouble with removing the spinning mouthpiece when swapping the airflow tubes out? I am probably doing something wrong, because I feel like I'm having to use a ton of force to get it off. After my last cleaning yesterday it feels extremely stuck on there to the point that I am a bit worried about my next cleaning/airflow swap. Probably need to grab some sort of oil for the o-rings soon..
Mine was extremely hard to pull off first couple times you do really gotta use a good amount of force. Someone mentioned somewhere in the thread it’s meant to be pretty secure so it’s not detaching from the body when pulling from the wand, reload or out of cases I think? I appreciate it when using a leather sleeve I have for it, as it’s pretty snug and I gotta pull at the mouthpiece a good amount to pull the whole thing out.

I have put some Dynawax on them after cleaning but only a tiny bit and wipe away pretty well before reconnecting cause it should stay secure enough. But I noticed it didn’t feel quite so rough after the first few times switching.

I second this, and will add that it's not required to remove the flow tube for cleaning. So only bother removing if you want to switch flow tube type.

I'll echo the other responses. Just went through this scenario yesterday myself and like yours it was stuck stuck. Thought I was doing something wrong but finally got it apart. That recessed o-ring of the cooling helix apparently needed some Dynawax to make things good.

Just a little Tempest story. I had to step away from the desk for a sec. Came back and I saw the Tempest sitting in the Wand.. The Wand was off but I vaguely remembered packing the bowl. So I thought, did I heat it? If I told you I pulled it out and looked at the VI to see if it was hot I would be lying. You can guess what stupid move I did.

How do you mod the CU mesh? *curious*

Same here. The mouthpiece was SUPER hard to remove.

I got a flat plastic spudger (like the 2nd from far right here on Amazon), and slowly wedged it up enough to finally pull it apart.

After having done that 2 or 3 times, I replaced the o ring down inside the stem (the little one) with super fine tweezers. That seemed to make pulling it apart so much easier. Time will tell, though.

Some fron aliexpress and others from a friend who sell ptglass vapes on EU, stunner and balls.

I did find the best for herb bowl (full and half) is a modified tinymight CU mesh. and if you want a solid screen for half bowl...the wolkenfraft fx mini spare screens (not the one which comes with the silicon)
Thank you! Ironically, I can't seem to find my spare TM screens, hah.

Brenyo actually said it first, I was a parrot later, but that's the one thing about changing the o-ring, waxing or removing it, when the official case is released the friction of the o-ring against the mouthpiece is to enable you to pull it out of the leather sleave/magnet combo

While its not an issue now, just keep it in mind later if you get the case

Are there any other options for a portable battery operated IH other than the wand that will be good with the Tempest? While the wand may work fine I want something closer to the Yll 2. Never have liked the look of the wand and I like the wattage options on the Yll and the simple small block design.
Maybe the Forge (january), I know that BFG is working on a IH, the Camouflet IH, maybe a new Yllvape too?

I use the Tempest on the wand and I don't care about any of the indicators at the moment, I'm waiting for them to be properly calibrated before I do. I go right up to the wand's time-out and get very pleasant, consistent and repeated results. Like others, I've noticed that oil is accumulating in the glass reducer, soiling the top of the head.

I like to use it with an @Aezhenn stem, which also cools the vapor well, and with the ScruffyWoofers cooling Stand I've just received (fits perfectly), I can easily chain bowls together.

I don't really like the bowl screen, which get dirty too quickly (compared to those on the Fusion or Anvil, which never have to be removed and cleaned). Are there any plans to have this kind of screen on the final version, or will it come with a mesh one?.

Last detail, there's a small gap at the bottom of the heatshield which causes a little rattle that's not very pleasant. I hope the wood version will fit better.

Well, it's a very pleasant and versatile device, and the well-calibrated final version will be wonderful for a whole host of different users.

I actually love the bowl screen. Keeps clean for ages. Never falls out. I never use half bowl setting though, so I understand potential complaints from those who do.
My bowl screen wasn’t soildly seated in the half bowl notch, so I popped it out and put it back in using the Reload gen 2. It’s been fine since.

I use lots of stuff in my bowl and the screen has never actually got clogged , I am also curious what you are using?

Now I want that stem and stand... I was trying to not buy more this year but apparently I need them now :) mind letting me know where you got the stand... I'll search anyway but helps to ask..

I also agree about the screen never clogging. These are probably the only screens I’ve had that go so long without having to be cleaned. Sometimes I feel like the helix gets more clogged with honey than my screen does.

Also have seen a couple people mention heat shields loose? Don’t know if I did something wrong with mine but it’s like rock solid on mine, I actually wouldn’t even know how to remove mine or loosen it if I wanted too. Any specific trick?

mine is rock solid too, I think its the o-ring between different releases changing, Brenyo mentioned something a bit back about them. As for removing it - I trend to hold the heat shield, I push on the silver part above the airport that is sticking out from behind the heat shield until the o-ring releases, sometimes a little twist helps to get it started.

(I just did it 3 times to remember how I did it lol)

Strange, mine doesn't get dirty or blocked at all, are you using super finely ground material?

Okay, okay, guys... what am I doing wrong😂? i use it in 1hitter mode with medium grind, and no H or concentrates...
I also often notice that the bottom of the bowl is less roasted than the rest. ideas?

About the heathshield, mine moves near the mouthpioece, at the opposite side of the o-ring. I tried to make a video to see and hear.

I’ve noticed mine has just a bit of wiggle too. Every so often can hear it while spinning. Mine’s definitely due for a cleaning, can’t remember if that helps.

Make sure the heat shield is firmly pressed down over the radiator sleeve o-ring down by the bowl. As I'm sure you know there is a small bump-out in the inner part of the heatshield that lines up with the groove of the radiator sleeve up by the air path control dial. I'll get that same 'play' you have if it's not seated firmly.

yes I do. There's only one access path for the heatsheild with this slot, then it's pressed all the way up and wedges into the notches. That's fine for the top part, which is well fixed and held, my problem is with the bottom part.

My radiator sleeve is ever so slightly recessed into the heatshield by the o-ring. In that position there is no play but if it's flush I get slight play as shown in your video..

I’m on the same boat. I took out my click disc and don’t even look at the VI. An improvement to the wand would be to have a smaller coil so that it sits closer to the tempest head for better induction efficiency. Could even tighten the size of the tempest head if the indicators are removed.

Honestly, indicators aren’t needed with an IH that has a timed auto shut off. Given that the batteries are fresh, my first hits have been incredibly consistent using the wand.

Torch is another story obviously

I made a video that might help. I used to get that rattle sometimes, until I followed certain assembly steps. The video didn't pick up the sound well, but it is rattling like yours at the start of the video.

I then take it apart and assemble it. Notice at each step I point to something. This is indicating where you need to add pressure while pushing in the next component. Let me know if this doesn't make sense and I will try to explain better. If you follow those steps it should alleviate the loose rattle, and the whole unit will feel completely solid.
