Discontinued The Sublimator

I've been trying to keep mine around 34watts, but have seen it go up to 36 or so and still not getting any combustion at the higher end, just darker abv. I did notice an oil trail on the underside of the heater, so it is running a little at that temp/wattage. I have not tried bumping it up any higher for oil, just because the oil hits I get in the 34-36 zone are plenty adequate.

It seems everyone started out at the lower end of the spectrum; around 24-28 watts, and have progressively increased their temperatures to the 32-36 watt region...

My observations are flowers only temperatures.

Temp, as we have seen, is always going to be a personal choice. I am happy in the 25 watt range for daily use...but others may like higher.

Oils will run into the bowl if not hot enough. So I stick to around 35 watts.

Do people put a smaller amount of herb in when they do dabs with the apollo or no herb at all or the standard .15 amount?

Take a small pinch from your herb and put it in the atomizer with screen. It should be between like 5 or 10 pieces of fine herb.

What my friend usually does with my original sublimator is to put enough to cover the screen (I have the iolite so I'm not sure how big the original is edit: forgot I had some in my ti nail one, I'll head home to check)

But my preference is a small pinch. I'll scale out what it comes out to

My neighbor just tried to buy the Mercury Kit from the main site and no payment options were available. I'm assuming they are still working on the site?

I was reading the last few pages and somebody said UFO might be a little better than the sputnik because of metal mass and is able to retain heat longer. Usage would be strictly Torches though. No campfires here!

Option 1) Mercury Kit or

Option 2) Get UFO+Atomizer now and wait for the load base to be released!

Any pros/cons ( other than any price difference ) that make one favorable over the other? If this was the choice "you" were faced with, what would "you" pick...and may I know "your" reason? :D :D

I don't even measure anymore...I just take a healthy pinch, drop it in and then slam myself to the other side (not for everyone of course)...I will say, I love that about the sub. Being able to dab and hit herb at the same time, is alot of fun :ko:

Enrico refers to them as ' double deckers ' when doing herbs and dabs at the same time .
That was one freaky bus ride , I tell ya .

Went for my 2nd test drive last night .
I just want to retract my statement about NO taste/flavor with the Sub .
I got to try out the Whip mode last night , where you can sip thru the whip .
You can def . taste the flavor better than using the open bong tube hits .
I find you can savor the taste better when sipping the whip than hard vacuum suction inhales .
It actually reminds me of the 1st filled bag from a fresh bowl on the Volcano .

I also had to try smaller pinches , so I can finish all of it in just 1 hit .
Most of testing had to be finished off with a 2nd hit , but I was still enjoying the first inhale .

The LED temp control was very helpful in finding your sweet spot , and transferring to dabbing temps
and back . I think that was my fav Beta piece , hope it gets released soon .

I give it 3 thumbs up .

Too bad the LED didn't come out the first round...but I find the meter helps with gauging my sweet spot either way.

Would love to pick up the parts for the tube set up (especially glass)...wonder if these will be available for purchase separately for those of us who purchased the adapt a bong?

Talk to Planetvape Super Tweek .
There was a beta 7mm glass tube on a beta Titanium stand for testing .
Very solid piece of glass , and probably release before the Ti stand . imo

So some subs draw as much as 60 watts, and some max out at 45?
Interesting to say the least

I found another screen for consideration: the cupped vapocane screens drop right in and sit on the top ridge perfectly. They fit even better than the factory grill I have, dropping right into place 100% of the time (as long as it's right side up).

I'm about to give it a try. Thoughts?

I am not sure it is much to worry about. Anything above 35-40 watts is heading toward combustion. Perhaps PV or Enrico can chime in?

Those screens are what I have been looking for. Interested in hearing feedback...nice find

Anyone know where to purchase this screen individually or in large quantities? I couldn't find it on PV.

I heard someone mention that they broke their Mobius with the Apollo. Could anyone elaborate on this? ive been looking to purchase the Mobius 60 mm stereo matrix piece and im hesitant to do so until I know more.

I LOOOVVEE my sublimator t-shirt btw

I don't think it is exclusive to the Mobius, as much as there is a risk of cracking your glass if you do not have a stable set up. So in that case, you may not want to use your most expensive glass for the Sublimator...unless you know for sure you are not a klutz like me (broke my bong the other day) :D

Sure...that was me. You can read all about it in this thread...just look for the sad pic. Bottom line is I wasn't careful enough. I can think of three things I was doing wrong while in a hurry to get that hit. If you are careful and get your routine set before going on autopilot, you should have no problem. But I wouldn't bother pairing a matrix with the Sub. I like it better out of my cheap dry tube and the matrix perc with water in it added nothing to the experience. In fact, my friend who tested this rig out with me before I broke it like it better dry as well.

Very very very helpful information sticks thanks a lot man for real. So if you were to buy a wicked glass piece for this unit to go with a sub-buddy what would it be? would you wait on PV sub-specific bong yourself or do you have any glass for it you could recommend? I love my pre-sale edition but im always looking for new toys lol. And honestly the glass we have in Canada is awful, at least in Calgary. We get glass at least 6-12 months after it has already been out. Since ive come on this forum I feel like ive moved up so much in the world in terms of smoking, the hemp-store market is so limited.

Don't go ordering those vapocane screens just yet, the jury's still out on them.
More sooner than later:popcorn:

So the issue with the vapocane screens definitely isn't fit, they fit absolutely perfect. What concerns me is their concave properties, the dose isn't spread out as widely so it leaves less surface area exposed to the heat. It extracts fine but needs just a touch higher setting and maybe a bit of a pause before hitting. With the slight adjustment in technique the vapor is just as milky as before. I'm still not sure how I feel about them but this is all in the launchpad tube, I will try it with water next.

Edit: They're a perfect fit but overall not worth seeking out. Another issue is they don't empty that easy. I'm sticking with the stock grills for now.

Vapocane screens work great in the vapocane though, which is highly recommended for when the power goes out and your ufo hasn't arrived yet :science:

Heya mnd99,

Yeah i had same problem on their website.

UFO and Sputnik are the same thing Planetvape said a few pages back can't say exactly where. In the videos u can see diffference tho but i guess this has been improved somehow.

I shall just give you the answer as to why i took the UFO:
1. Campfire AND torch possibility
2. Since i would still need a bong of somesort I opted for the UFO + Atomizer as i was going for Adapt-a-bong in future. First thought was Mercury kit and Adapt-a-bong so i could use both heating elements on the mercury kit base. Seemed like a nice combo at first to carry around as well! I was trying to cheap out generally :D
3. The mercury kit maybe a little bit more interesting when it comes to reclaiming oils, as it looks to me u can disassemble the base for easy cleaning but im not sure about that one. Think i saw Enrico do it in one of his videos.

There u go hope this helps.

greetz and happy vaping
