if the Apollo heater is AC, then an X-10 appliance module would work swell (good up to 300watt), plus you can get a wireless remote control. Total about $30 USD. Or computer control software.

.................. Anyone considering modifying or over riding the Subs in line power controller should be very cautious. The warranty on your Sub will of coarse be over and you will be circumventing built in safety features. The simple looking in line power controller acts as a thermal break should anything go wrong further down the line, it also is modified to limit power output to the Apollo. Without this limited power output to the Apollo, you will be at high risk to over heat your Sub causing irreversible damage as well as a serious safety risk..........................

^^ all noted...... However, my concern with 'safety' is the lack of a grounded (cord to metal handle) on a device used with line voltage in and around WATER (and on top of that -MEDICATED-), which would have been very simple to have been incorporated into the device in the first place, let alone a much better visual AND physical means of power connection then a '2-wire lamp cord'. Not 'everyone' is wearing isolated footwear, and considering it only take 20 mA to both start AND stop your heart, it certainly (and unnecessarily) leads to a sense of responsible thoughts.

Do I love my Sub ? = HELL YES !
Do I love my life ? = HELL YES !
Am I a questioning person in general about everything ? = YOU BET'CHA, almost to the point of being pessimistic !

Still love me ? = Ha, you don't have a choice... I'm your customer with da interwebs ;)

We completely agree with you smokum, grounding certainly is a great idea here, you have some excellent points that should be looked into. We made that post just as a cautionary warning that modifying or over riding the Subs in line power controller could also be dangerous. We want everyone to be Sub'in as safely as possible too.

Of course we still love you and very much appreciate any feedback, especially where safety is concerned.

This thread sure could use some more videos:shrug::p.
I know someone's out there sub'n wanting to show off some clouds.:brow:

I was thinking about this power readout thing, and I remember someone saying that "if the wheels were marked, an 8/10 on this unit may not be the same as 8/10 on someone else's unit" (IIRC). Would adding some sort of simple digital readout be any different? Say along the same lines as a VVPS that would read out the voltages adjusted by the already present wheel/dial. Or would 12V on one unit not produce the same temp as 12V on another? Just curious, as this might be the way to go about that sweet-spot dilemma, and I can't imagine just a simple display adding an awful lot to the price tag? Then again I am no inventor.

Looks like Lev's bubbler is doing a nice job holding the sub. Was curious about smaller pieces and the weight of the unit.

So is everyone running the sub dry? Maybe it's because I'm only a year off combusting, but seems like I would miss the pull of the water in the hit, especially if it's comparable to bong rips. Do dry rips seem to be superior, or just easier not to deal with water?

Oh, and in case you couldn't tell, I'm jealous as shit:p.

That Lev bub is just barely adequate for the Sub, and I really don't use it like that all the time. I use the other one in the frame, with water and the cloudbuddy... I was just doing a dry hit vid for the hell of it, and that piece was ready and clean. It does work, but I wouldn't leave the Sub just sitting on it, still a bit top heavy. I certainly would not go any smaller.

**notice I'm holding onto the bottom of that Lev piece in the video for stability.

I've found myself reading many a thread on here over the course of the past eight years or so - but up until now, mostly on account of the fact that the multitude of educated personalities have always asked and answered every possible question I could think of, I hadn't taken the time out to actually register an account.

The sheer awesomeness, innovation and intrigue the Sublimator has created changed all that.

I've taken the time out over the course of the past few days to read each post in this extremely lengthy thread in an effort to educate myself as much as possible.

I'd like to articulate the great respect and admiration I have for both Enrico and Planet Vape (whose attention to customer service I have already experienced and appreciated first-hand), for having had an open door policy and having taken out the time to air out each individual concern to the best of their abilities.

I had a question with regards to what would qualify as an ideal glass-piece to complement the Adopt-a-Bong Sublimator?

It seems the inclination is towards a small bubbler without any 'bells and whistles' so to speak.

Is this merely on account of the fact that since people have predominantly been using their glassware 'dry', there isn't anything to be gained by using a larger bong as opposed to a small bubbler - or, what concerns me, is there actually a disadvantage to using a large piece for some reason?

The reason I ask is because I own a Hoss Build-a-Bong with a ten-arm percolator in the base, an eigh arm percolator attachment, and a separate ash-catcher with a shower-head percolator.

Essentially,

Plus

Plus

And then obviously there's a short straight tube with the mouthpiece that attaches to the eight-arm.

I'm wondering if this setup would hinder performance for some reason?

I am itching to complete the order and have the shipping process commence - in an ideal world I'd love to drive up and pick it up so that I can have it ASAP - given I live in the Toronto area.

Thanks for the insight - and thank you everyone for doing such an exceptionally wonderful job dissecting every possible angle of the hobby I so enjoy.

The main reason I like to use a small bubbler is because I use very small amounts of herb and like to concentrate the vapor into a smaller space with a greater vapor to air ratio. And like you said, I use it dry so diffusion properties aren't important. I also want a center mount joint for balance and strength, especially with a smaller piece that can be tipsy. PLus I don't want to risk breaking a big expensive bubbler by clunking down with the heavy mass of the Sub (although that can be controlled ... usually).

I really don't believe there can be an 'ideal' glass piece, as its all personal preference and attraction.

The only common necessity is balance and stability... essentially, a heavy 'base' or 'mounted' assembly. As well, as satyrday mentions... "a center mount joint for balance and strength" would certainly be a plus, or at least a connection tight to the body and vertical to take the weight.

I'm holding out until PV gets some add on or complimenting Sub 'play toys', while in the meantime I've been using a dangerously small macro that makes paying attention a necessity, and stoner ninja skill mandatory ;)

Edit: Oooops, forgot to say what I orginally was going to respond.... hehe ' I be SUBLIMATED '

I'm also one to take very small amounts for hits as my bronchs and lungs are long done with bronchitis/asthma. I prefer 'wet' with warm water, as I spasm with dry air just breathing, even though a dry hit from the Sub was definitely 'smoother' than anything else I've tried, but its just not for me.

^ did you mean 45 deg? cuz 90 would be a t-intersection....

LoL.... I think a better phrase would have been a vertical joint or just 90 degree with no reference to the body.

For gawdsakes.... don't make me think a the moment please :ko:

Edit: fix the referred to post so to not mislead.

Is there an argument to be made that a larger bong would result in more vapour ending up sticking to the sides as honey than with something with a smaller chamber?

I can clear a chamber pretty damn quick with the aforementioned bong.

*** something I forgot to specify in the previous post

Here is the picture of our power dial marking. Mark is at the sweet spot for herbs on our unit, repeatable every time, it is about 1/4 turn back from full power.

Not sure why, but we seem to notice buildup a little on the walls of smaller pieces and not any on larger pieces yet, more testing needs to be done....

by george, I have been sublimated!

I bought the 18mm adapt a bong kit after reading most of this thread. I would like to add I ordered this thing yesterday morning, and 26h later the mail man handed it to me! thx PV! my reasoning for this was I intend to get the launcher (http://www.sublimator.ca/img/p/29-81-thickbox.jpg) and a GG bong shaft like the gear one he has eventually. I will want something without logos though, I dislike all the flash and am a minimalist at heart!

been gone awhile and what do I come back to see? a new canadian vape has hit the scene? cool! it's very low profile and I like the little metal stand it came with.
I don't know about you guys but, you store yours (both pieces, apollo, and atomizer) together and then in the stand right? it's working great for me. that way I don't leave it sitting in my bong, at risk of my dog knocking it over. but i still keep the atomizer part up to temp at all times too.

so i did the burn off until I could not see or smell any more vapors coming off of it. then i turned it down to 50% the vapor was tasty, but not cloudy as you see in the videos. I did this 3 or 4 times, using about half a solo bowl's worth of herb.

the screen was a pain in the butt! It was very solid and well built but didn't fit in the cone as I read it should be. so i have a scoopula. I used that to stab at the screen gently on the edges where it wouldn't go in. after about 5 min of fiddling with it I got it to bend a little bit and now it fits in there snugly. so glad i did that as it's no longer difficult to work with.

so then I decided to turn it up a bit. i'd say i am at 75% now 2 bowls of that and oh boy!!! :whoa:

2 bowls of that and I am indeed in orbit! I believe my LVS is going to be packed up and put on standby for the time being. doing it waterless like suggested, and it's true that it's not harsh! I am impressed! there must be something to this atomizer thing. I don't understand the physics behind how it changes things, but I sure would like to! it's just brings up so many questions. and gets my head tingling just beginning to think about it :)

more specific things to come as i become more familiar with this great new device! I am really glad it doesn't have a timer on it. will any of the future models have a shut off feature? the timer was a PP of mine regarding the cloud. the mail man woke me up and I was only 2 h into my sleep for the day, so I am heading off again! ttyl FC! I missed this place!

@ Enrico, how come the apollo is made of Steel, but the e-nail is Ti? why isn't the apollo Ti also? I am just curious :) I love your product so far man! great job!

also as a upgrade suggestion, is there a way we could get a light on the box to indicate the machine is on? It's not super important, but since there is no shut off timer (thank you!) the reminder of a light would be nice to have.

I think the OVNI and sputnik are very cool too! I could see bouting the OVNI just for times when three are power outs or I am in my back yard!

Enrico said it was not a good idea to store both the atomizer and apollo top in the stand together, that the stand was meant for the apollo only, but I think they are working on a stand to allow for both. He posted earlier in the thread...

I figured it's about time I show off my humble little rig. It is a "before" picture as my new bubbler is arriving today. I was going to clean up for a glamour shot, but people like it down and dirty. And to keep it even more real, I decided to snap it with my cheap ass cell phone instead of hauling out my more deluxe camera.

subrig_25p_zps71307b1e.jpg

Note the pyrex dish that helps contain any mishaps and doubles as a lazy man's duff tray. Unseen below is my GFCI strip that the Apollo's plugged into. But to show that au naturel, I'd have to expose the tangle of cords I have down there, which may be a hazard in and of itself and not a good example to set.

Here's a little finger dish I picked up at a pottery in Harmony, CA during a trip down PCH 1. It is the perfect size to mix a little herb in and dump into the Sub chamber. Finally found a use for it!

harmony_25_zps13cf2e27.jpg

And no, I haven't yet left any melted forehead skin on the Sub while bending over for some love. And yes I did paint out something too revealing in that second drawer.

Enjoy a little corner of my life! (maybe not so little)
